WSBT-TV: Saving Money By Going Green

Here is today's segment from WSBT-TV. We talked about decisions we made to save money, that also had a positive impact on our environment.

"We changed out our light bulbs to CPF. The mercury in them isn't very green, but it definitely have saved us money. I purchased mine wholesale at Costco."

"I hang my clothes on the line instead of using the dryer. Use cloth napkins instead of paper napkins to cut down on garbage. I use wash clothes instead of wipes. Do all of my errands on the same date to cut down on gas use."

"We cloth diaper, use cloth napkins, rags and towels instead of paper towels, even use "mama cloth"... line dry about 85% of the time... keep an eye out for phantom power by completely powering down the entertainment system and computer at night (everything is plugged in to surge protectors that I shut off)... program the thermostat on my heating/cooling system... use reusable bottles for water

I want to start switching to CPF bulbs next. :)"
