What Do You Use Your FoodSaver For?

My recent trip to Goodwill was well worth the effort. While browsing through the housewares, I ran across a donated FoodSaver. I paid my five dollars, picked up some bags at Walmart, and brought it home.

I am looking for any ideas for how you use your FoodSaver- conventional & unconventional. If you have one of these handy little gadgets (and would like to share), please click on the comments and share your FoodSaver experience.

"I use mine for just about everything you could ever want to put in the freezer, but also some pantry items too. For instance, when a box of cereal is nearly gone, not enough left for a whole bowl, I swirl it in a food processor till it's really small & crumbly, then put in in a BIG foodsaver bag. I always put a long piece of paper towel between the crumbs and the sealer, because if the crumbs get sucked into the machine, you've got bIG trouble! Then the sealed bag goes into my pantry and comes out whenever a recipe calls for breadcrumbs. Next time we have leftover cereal, it gets added to the bag - all those different kinds all mixed up in there make for awesome bread crumbs!
By the way, you'll want to use the paper towel trick when you seal wet things, too - drops of water in the motor are even worse than crumbs! Have fun!
