  1. no paper towels here-we use microfiber towels and hang them on the line after washing-they dry very quickly and are great for pet and kid cleanups.

  2. One thing we do in our home to keep it clean and green is recycling, it teaches our children about reusing things for other purposes and not putting so much in the trash! We also use vinegar with water for most of our cleaning! Thanks for the opportunity!!!

  4. I use a steamer mop which has eliminated my need to put chemicals on my floor and my floor feels cleaner than it ever did.

  5. We’ve mostly gotten rid of paper towels, too. It was a hard push at first to get the beau to quit taking a paper towel for everything but now he’s far more likely to reach for a microfiber cloth or a dish rag. Success!

    We make our own dishwashing detergent and all-purpose cleaner. We’re also experimenting with using reusable baby wipes (but not for the poo diapers…I just can’t go there!)

  8. We’ve been using homemade daily shower cleaner and I Just made my first batch of all purpose cleaner too. And after we run out of paper towels, that will be the last roll that we buy.

  10. This would be awesome! I’m never sure what to use to clean the floor when our dog or a child has an accident!

    I mop with water, Borax and a splash of lemon essential oil. Especially now that my daughter’s crawling, I don’t want toxic stuff coating the floor!

  12. We only use cloth napkins and wash them instead of paper towels. We also compost, recycle everything under the sun and only produce 1 kitchen garbage bag of trash a week!

  16. We recycle and reuse anything we can. I clean my shower with old toothbrushes and dryer sheets I already used in the laundry. We also use energy efficient appliances.

  17. I use vinegar as a cleaner but also as my detergent softener rinse in my front load washer. Not only does it save on pollutants put into the waste system it is great for cutting the soap out of our clothes.

    This product sounds wonderful. We have 2 little girls, a cat, dog and guinea pig in our house so it sounds like something that I need to try.

  31. I use socks with holes to clean nasty things I do not want to wash out of rags, then toss. I use vinegar in the washing machine and as a cleaner and we are seriously using less paper towels.

  36. I am always looking for natural products in my cupboards I can use. Baking soda, borax, vinegar, all used in a variety of ways: laundry booster, dishwasher rinse aid, floor cleaner, etc. Love non-toxic products!

    When I’m running hot water, I collect the cold that comes out first (I think my pipes take the scenic route!) and use it for watering the plants.

  45. i reuse the sponges that i wash dishes with for messier jobs once they are worn out. i also reuse toothbrushes for scrubbing difficult places. vinegar is something i clean with sometimes. thanks or the chance!!!

  46. We use vinegar for fabric softener, use baking soda or vinegar for much cleaning. Watching garage sales for cloth napkins. Bought used/slightly damaged front load washer! Some of these products we’d keep, some we’d donate to a friend who is starting a pet rescue and as of yet, it’s still in her house!

  47. We use as many ‘chemical free’ cleaners as I’m able to afford–my favorite are good sponges and old toothbrushes for scrubbers. I like the ‘magic erasers,’ I hope they are chemical free–I think they are?!?

  48. Vinegar for fabric softener, deoderizer. Baking soda or vinegar for cleaning. Cloth napkins purchased from garage sales slowly replacing paper napkins. Steaming carpets with water only. Water savers on all shower heads. Heat pump on water heater. Fireplace during colder months instead of cranking thermostat.

  49. I’m big on the reusable shopping bags, I won’t use plastic at all anymore. We also don’t use paper towels, I use cloth instead on cleaning pretty much everything in the house, that way I can wash it and reuse.

  51. To keep our home ‘clean & green’ we recycle, use a compost pile to create mulch for our flower beds and have been trying to incorporate more ‘green cleaning supplies’ into our routines – like vinegar, baking soda, etc.

  59. When I can’t fully remove the remains of baked-on food from a glass pot or pan, I partially fill it with white vinegar, zap it for a couple of minutes in the microwave, let it soak for about ten minutes, and THEN scrub.

  62. Since I have a newborm in the house, I have become sensitive to the fumes used in everyday cleaning products. Instead of using dusting spray, I use the attatchment on my vaccum cleaner to dust EVERYTHING. It not only helps the environment but our budget as well.

  65. One thing my family and i do is recycle and reuse everthing, cutting the tops off plastic bottles works great as cylinders and the bottoms are good for storing things, we use cold water whenever possiable and donate what others can use.. every little bit counts..

  67. I couldn’t live without my vinegar, baking soda & EO’s. Reusable shopping bags are the greatest. Clean green would be great for my house as we have an aging kitty who is not liking his litter box anymore. I can’t find anything to help clean his new “potty” spot in the basement.

  68. One thing I do to keep my home clean AND green is using old t-shirts and socks as rags. I have never purchased a Swiffer & don’t need to. An old t-shirt over an old mop head does the work, saves $$ and the environment and I can wash it & reuse it again & again.

  70. Our biggest thing is no paper napkins. With two toddlers we would go through so many napkins so we use cloth. We also use them for paper towel substitutes. We also use green cleaning products which is nice for when the girls want to help clean. I don’t need them near the chemicals.
