If you have already entered, there is no need to enter again. Just know that your entry got an amazing upgrade and you can read our thoughts about this amazing vacuum here!

I may be in the minority, but I think a brand new cleaning tool is a fun and practical Mother’s Day gift that would keep on giving and giving in our family. That is why I am so excited about this fun new giveaway that we are offering up for a brand new Hoover Bagged Upright Vacuum valued at $449.99!

Removing more dirt in a single pass than other lightweight bagged uprights, this powerful vacuum cleaner combines direct air-flow technology with patented Windtunnel Technology for fast, efficient results. Weighing less than 12 pounds, the cleaner moves effortlessly from room to room and up and down stairs. It also provides illuminated fingertip controls for easily turning the power on and off or switching between high and low speeds. The upright vacuum cleaner uses a dust bag with a HEPA filter, which traps 99.97 percent of dirt, dust, and pollens down to 0.3 microns for better indoor air quality. The quick-release, self-sealing bag prevents dirt puffs from escaping, and the cleaner’s check-bag indicator illuminates when the bag needs to be changed.

Other highlights include a 12 amp motor, a 14-inch-wide nozzle, automatic height adjustment, and edge-cleaning brushes, as well as a lifetime LED headlight, a comfortable D-shaped handle, and a 35-foot power cord. Even more, the unit comes with a canister vacuum for above-the-floor cleaning and for bare-floor surfaces. Simply attach the included bare-floor brush, dusting/furniture brush, or crevice tool to the end of the telescoping extension wand for thorough, detailed cleaning throughout the house. A detachable shoulder strap for conveniently transporting the canister vacuum comes included, along with a Type Q upright HEPA bag, a Type I portable canister HEPA bag, and a user manual for both the upright and the canister. The upright vacuum cleaner measures approximately 15-1/2 by 13 by 45 inches and carries a six-year limited warranty.

  5. Oh gosh, where do I begin? I can’t stand dragging out large vacume down the stairs and then back up the stairs. So that’s issue #1. I also have a basement FILLED with toys that need some storage solution. Otherwise when I’m cleaning I just move them from one spot to another.

  6. Our biggest cleaning challenges is keeping the carpets free of stains. No matter how often we get it cleaned or spotclean it, I’m always finding spots and stains. :(

  7. my biggest cleaning dilemma is vacuuming stairs. if i use my big vacuum, it’s a pain and it just doesn’t do well along the edges and back of each step… if i use my little handheld vacuum, it doesn’t have the power to suck up all the dirt and debris.

this looks like a great solution!

  8. My biggest cleaning dilemma at my house is the stairs! Somehow they attract all the fuzzies and hairballs in the house. But it’s so difficult to heave my huge vacuum up and down the stairs every time I want them clean! This would be a lifesaver!

  11. My biggest vacuuming dilemma is not having electrical outlets where I need them. There are a few place that are very hard to reach with the vacuum because of that.

  12. My biggest problem is keeping the clutter and toys in check. I can’t walk from one room to the next without bending over 12 times to pick up toys or little cut up pieces of paper. Then when I walk back to the original room, it seems I didn’t pick anything up because there is all new stuff on the floor to pick up! UGH! These children are like tornadoes! But they’re my little tornadoes and I love them so much!

  20. One cleaning dilemma? I have so many!! My biggest one at the moment, other than my ongoing, never-ending laundry situation, is keeping my dining room clean. It’s pretty much the gathering space in my house & the first room you see when you walk in the house. We eat all our meals in the dining room & it’s carpeted and my children cannot seem to NOT drop food on the floor (at least it’s brown carpet…not my choice!). I’d love a handy vac like this one to catch those messes immediately instead of having to drag out the big old heavy vacuum! And I love new cleaning tools, too!!

My biggest cleaning dilema is my floors. I have wood floors and 3 kids age 5 and under. My floors are always dirty. But this stick vac has saved my day–it holds its charge, is easy to use, and looks good just stanging around in my kitchen.

    Posted by Pat | May 6, 2009, 9:31 pm
  52. Firewood mess. We use wood-burning stoves to heat. The fires are nice and cozy, but the bark, dirt and dust is non-stop. During the coldest months, I haul more than 4 wheel-barrow loads a week and a huge vacuuming session always must follow. The procedure generally involves a broom, shop-vac and sweeper. I’m usually pretty relieved when spring finally arrives.

  53. My biggest problem is the bathrooms! I just hate doing them, and I’m eight months pregnant so I’ve just given up doing the bathtub altogether as I can’t reach anymore. Our floor collects hair like crazy, too.

  63. Ugh, our biggest dilemma are the CRUMBS and dirt from our 2 kids! I would have to clean the floors 2 times every day to keep up with it. Oh, and the bathrooms because they are gross and my husband is the bathroom cleaner but he only deep cleans once a month minimum in there.

    Posted by Janel | May 7, 2009, 12:07 pm
  64. The corners, as well as high-traffic areas (around the coffee table near the couch) are the WORST areas to keep clean. Our vacuum just conked out – so this would be an AWESOME upgrade!

  75. TIME! But the hardest area to clean in my house is the windows at the top of the vaulted ceilings. The cobwebs and dust that collect on the windowsill can be seen from our loft, but are extremely hard to reach.

    Posted by Angela | May 7, 2009, 12:19 pm
  76. My biggest cleaning dilemma is our super light beige (read nearly white I promise) carpet and how to keep it clean and spot free. I swear if you walk thru with even wet shoes there are spots and cleaning the carpets can only happen so often. Maybe a fancy new vacuum would help spread the time between these deep cleanings though :)

    Posted by Rachel | May 7, 2009, 12:19 pm
  77. Floors and how to nicely ask everyone to always take off their shoes so we aren’t constantly vacuuming and sweeping and swiffering

    Posted by Joey | May 7, 2009, 12:19 pm
  78. My biggest cleaning dilemma is the amount of dog and cat hair left behind by the animals on the floor and all over the sofa. I really have to look where I sit in the morning so I don’t walk into work with hair all over my pants!

    Posted by Katie | May 7, 2009, 12:19 pm
  79. My kitchen floors! The owners of our house redid our kitchen and I got to pick out all the new stuff. I had horrible brown tiles and I wanted to brighten up the kitchen so I picked a white tile. Big mistake – I am doing a quick mop job at least every other day! Sometimes I miss the brown tiles!

  80. Hi,
With five kids, I can probably use FIVE vacuums. It is certainly a dilemma, running behind a 9-month-old, 2 year-old, 5 and 6 year-olds and my 16-year-old. Each contribute to their own pocket of mess and the challenge is going from room to room trying to keep each area clean and trying to vacuum in small spaces where crumbs love to lie! I would say those small spaces are dilemmas for sure, I usually have to take a broom to manuever in those areas.Having a great vacuum like this would make my “mommy cleaning madness” managable!

Posted by Kia Morgan Smith | May 7, 2009, 12:20 pm
  81. My dilemna? 3-year-old twins! And, going from hardwood to carpet on THREE floors in an old house. Would love a new machine.

  86. The biggest cleaning dilemma in the Young household is our front hallway! Our drive has drainage problems, so whenever it rains, our entire driveway is covered with rain, leaves, etc… and our poor doormat gets waterlogged as well! So the entranceway just seems to stay dirty even when I clean it frequently! It is difficult to get all the little bits and pieces off the floor but this vacuum looks like it would do the trick!!!

Posted by Laura Young | May 7, 2009, 12:24 pm
  87. It actually is keeping my floors clean! My toddler spends lots of time rolling around with her toys and I don’t think my vacuum does a good job getting things clean. She also won’t let me sweep without running after me to get the broom out of my hand so she can sweep “all by self.”

Posted by Moira Steinberg | May 7, 2009, 12:29 pm
  88. My biggest dilemma right now is having the motivation and energy. Being 11 weeks pregnant with a 20 mo. old, I don’t feel like I have any left over energy for cleaning! Hopefully that will get better during the 2nd trimester. My biggest problem right now though would have to be the dishes. They’re never-ending!

    Posted by Joy | May 7, 2009, 12:30 pm
  89. Well beleive it or not, vacuuming is a huge bone of contention with me. Mine is so heavy that I just can’t do it. So every Sunday morning my husband vacuums the entire house (3 floors, what a guy!). I’m sure he’d appreciate having me do it once and awhile though :)

Posted by Org Junkie | May 7, 2009, 12:32 pm

  97. My biggest dilemma is keeping things clean…I feel like it is an every day struggle. I have 2-year-old twin boys and they are constantly telling me “Mommy I make a mess”! Our vaccum is old and not very powerful so I would absolutely LOVE a new one!

Posted by Jessica Youngblood | May 7, 2009, 12:42 pm
  98. My biggest cleaning problem is trying to keep my floors clean. I mop and vacuum everyday and they still seem so dirty. I think my problem lies in my bag less vacuum. It does not have good suction. I have always wanted a good vacuum because I don’t think I would have to vacuum as much and therefore I would have more time to spend with my kids. Thanks for this great giveaway just in time for Mothers Day!!

Thanks so much for hosting this!

  118. Finding the time and motivation (probably more the latter!). I’ve gone through so many different vacuums, mostly cheap ones, that I know I need to upgrade in quality. This is probably due to the fact I have long hair and two long haired cats.

  123. My cleaning dilemma is the simple fact I live in a small home with 2 boys and 2 animals – ugh! I am always cleaning and I have to use so many tools to clean my house with. There isn’t enough time in my day to work full time, raise two boys, take care of the animals and clean my house (and take care of the yard/gardens)!

  126. I am a Mother of three and Grandmother of two toddler girls. My two college aged chidren still live at home, and nightly the grandkids are ruling the roost! The weekends are spent watching the kids as their parents work, and although I am at home…cleaning is not the top priority. My biggest cleaning dilemma is having the time and energy to clean, but quickness and immediate results are needed. With my current vacuum, the sweeping and suction are not picking up the crumbs, dog hair, even pacifiers (LOL)…..better, faster….leaves more time to play! Thanks for this oportunity!

  127. Well, we have hardwood all over with some rugs, so I feel like as soon as I’ve swept, they’re dirty again. I try to sweep, swiffer, vacuum, and swiffer mop, but I’m never sure how clean my floors are! I guess my carpet in our apartment was dirty, too, but I didn’t notice as much! =)

  129. My big cleaning dilemma is keeping our floor clean. We’re not very good about enforcing a no-shoes policy, but we should. Plus, there are ALWAYS legos and Bionicles on our floor. And my five-year old is the messiest eater I know. I vacuum or sweep, turn around, turn back, and the floor is covered in dirt again.

My carpet always needs vaccuming and we could actually USE a new one…or a new used one if anyone wants to ship us one :)

Our current one is OLD. It was my husbands mothers and she gave it to him long before I came into the picture. He must have had it about 10 years and I don’t know how long she used it before she gave it to him. Impressive that it has lasted this long don’t you think?

  148. This is such a wonderful gift. My biggest dilemma is vacuuming pet hair. Our 10 year old chocolate labrador is having a hard time adjusting to the climate after moving from Illinois to Georgia: he is shedding all year long. My current vacuum has an air output right in front of it, so I see the pet hair flying in the air instead of being vacuumed.:(
    It drives me nuts!

  173. Dearest Hoover,

Big Cleaning Dilema you ask? I want my surfaces clean. I want a spot for everything so that my counters are clean and free of clutter. Really, it’s just keeping up with the daily things that happen at the kitchen island. It’s the epi-center of the house. The things I can gather from the counter in any given day, like today perhaps: One pair of tennis shoes, two days of newspapers, one plant, one back-pack, one lunch bag, one portable phone, one set of car keys and some Neosporin. And truthfully, it looks fairly clean, but enough to make the mom wack-out! I am done. Thanks for listening.

  194. The biggest problem I find is just keeping up with the day in and day out never ending chores. I have a 21 month old and 3 month old and babysit a 14 month old every other day and they require a lot of attention and energy. By the time they take naps (assuming they all go down at the same time) I’m just in need of a bathroom break, a bite to eat, or just a minute to breath. Not to mention no matter how clean I think I have things they always seem to be able to find something I didn’t even realize was there.

  200. My biggest cleaning challenge is our living room carpet. It’s a dark forest green with a really tight, short pile. Our vacuum cleaner has trouble getting the cat hair off of it. My husband had the house (and the carpet) before we got married and I really don’t like that carpet. Due to the lay out and size of our house the living room is the main play room for our 4 yr old son, so you can just imagine what my carpet looks like. Of course, these days we can’t afford to replace the vacuum or the carpet.

  201. My biggest cleaning dilema is keeping up with cleaning my cat’s hair off the carpet, the stairs, and my wood floors. I seem to be the only one wo notices this mess in my house. My husband and kids are oblivious to it. And also the clean dishes in the dishwasher! :)

  204. My biggest dilema is not having a vacuum cleaner at all and having to sweep my carpet. Does anyone know what that’s like? Having 2 kids & a husband to clean behind. I really need
    one.

  205. My biggest cleaning dilemna is trying to get rid of all the dust after having construction done inside the house. It seems the concrete and drywall dust is everywhere, I can smell it, see it, and no matter how many times I vacuum and dust it reappears. I am sure it is in my ventilation system but I don’t have any money to have that sucked out. I’m going to start vacuuming and wiping down walls this weekend…sigh.

  207. The ceiling fans! We are currently renting and the one in the kitchen doesn’t look like it has been cleaned since the house was built in 1989. Our living room is 2 stories, so reaching that one, includes getting the big ladder out. Also disgustingly dirty.
Other dilema? The floors. Previous tenants had dogs and every time it is warm out or the heat is on in the winter, the whole house smells and we just can’t get all the dog hair out of the carpet!

  234. The kitchen & the laundry – jobs that never seem to get done because once you finish them… you have to eat or clothe yourself again. Sometimes it takes me a week or two to tackle the laundry and then I forget how quickly it stacks up and… boom… there it is again. And the kitchen – UGH! By the time I finish cooking dinner the last thing I want to do is the dishes! So, they sit. Blech.

  238. Wow.. as a working Mom of 4 I have a few cleaning dilemas! I think laundry is the hardest for me to keep up with. I get them in the washer and dried, but folding, hanging and getting the kids to put them away is a constant battle. Our floors are also a real challenge, but I wouldn’t trade the chaos of a housefull of kids for anything :)

  239. I have two boys — 8yo and 11yo. ‘Nuf said. Other than keeping up with their messes, my biggest cleaning dilemna is windows. I’m petite, so cleaning the outside windows is just terrible, especially in the front where we have bushes under the windows, making using a ladder more difficult. I’ve tried using that spray stuff you attach to a garden hose to spray down your windows. Can you say streaks? Yuck!

Keeping ahead of the clutter seems impossible much of the time but as far as actual cleaning? I’d have to say dust is my nemesis.

My hardwood floors, pictures, stairs(!) and furniture all look dusty within minutes of being cleaned. I’m really not kidding!

Posted by Wanda Francis | May 8, 2009, 10:50 am
  247. Dusting. In Colorado the dust is crazy! One minute you’re dusting and the next, there’s that old familiar layer over everything and your right back where you started.
Plus my mom has been struggling to make payments on her new dream house but will not give up. I honor her so much for this and a vacuum is just that last thing she can’t quite afford each month. It would be amazing to be able to surprise her with a new one.

  251. My biggest cleaning dilemma is 1) picking up the toys and actually cleaning before the kids can rip them all out again and 2) my crappy vaccuum that no longer really picks up and is deafening due to the rebuilt motor in it.

  252. My biggest cleaning dilemma is daily cleaning up cat hair from the carpet and furniture and sweeping up all the little pieces of cat litter that fall off my kitty’s paws. His litter is in the laundry room and so there is always kitty gravel on the kitchen floor after he has visited his litter box. This is a daily chore. Thanks to you and to Hoover for the opportunity to win a new vacuum!

  254. my big cleaning dilema is that I do not have a vaccuum! I would love to have a vaccuum for my home with 8 indoor doggies and 3 teen kids. I live on a ranch and the mud is every where! My other big dilema if I won the vaccuum would be, how to get the doggies to use the vaccuum! Paula

  255. My biggest dilema, hands down is the laundry. I have two children, two jobs, and take two classes every semester. The laundry ALWAYS seems to get piled up on me, in a matter of a few days. Once I think I have a handle on it, there it is again, and my 12 year old seems to think that she NEVER has anything to wear. Imagine that. But a new vacuum would most definitely help me to get that over with quick and move on to the laundry. Thanks for entering me!

  264. so hard to pick just one… Well, I guess it would be just getting motivated to clean, because it all seems “undone” so very quickly! I’d love a new vaccuum, because I find myself Dustbusting the whole house after just intending to clean up one tiny mess :)

  266. OH how I long for a wonderful vacuum that actually works! My biggest dilemma is the FLOORS!! They always have something on them, even just after you vacuum! My bedrooms have carpet and the other rooms have either tile or hardwood, I love to walk barefoot but I cant in this house because of the sand. Its still there even after I vacuum. I am currently using a huge shop vacuum because it works better than the very expensive one that I bought a few years back! My problem I guess is that I am a bit OCD when it comes to a clean house and with a full time job and a 3 month old it is having to take the back seat…a new vacuum that works would take less time and allow me more time with my babe!

My four month old needs a clean floor so he can learn to crawl with the most minimal risk of getting sick. I just spent a couple hours yesterday cleaning all my 3100 square feet of floors to have my hubbie track in dirt all over!! His response was, “I did notice they looked very nice but I figured since my mom just arrived for a four-week visit, the dirty floors would give her something to do!!”

Our addition has painted concrete floors with bare hardwood throughout the rest of the house. Switching from one type of flooring to another while vacuuming, along with dog hair and a husband who after 25 years has still not learned to clean his feet before he comes in makes for a mess.

    Posted by Teri | May 9, 2009, 8:35 pm
  361. My biggest problem with keeping my home clean and orderly is finding the space to put eveything in order. Our recently divorced daughter and her two preschoolers have moved in with us and it it a tight squeeze to accommodate all of their things. We’ve all worked together to the best of our ability and made arrangements for my daughter to have the dining room as her bedroom (no closet) while her two little ones now occupy what used to be our office and the guest room. My husband and I have shifted things around, reorganized, moved furniture out, established our office in the hot garage, loaned, stored, and donated things, and even bought s small storage unit for our backyard. Still, we find our selves in a constant transition of decluttering and figuring out a better way to do things.
However, we are so very glad to have our daughter and her children living with us. It is a joy to watch the children grow and change day by day, and it is very satisfying to know that we can offer them the security and stability that they need at this time. We would not trade the experience for the world!

  385. Where do I begin??? Just built our dream house and the list of cleaning dilemmas keeps growing day by day. #1. 24 foot tall wall of windows (2 stories on the inside and 3 stories on the outside)For someone who already hates cleaning windows, this is a nightmare! Looks amazing though… #2. 3 cats and 1 dog with about 1200 sq. feet of dark hardwood floors. Can you say hairballs and dustbunnies?!?! #3. About 800 sq. feet of uneven and rough surfaced slate floors. Absolutely gorgeous but destroys any vacuum or mop you try to use to clean them. #4. Solid hardwood stairs that accumulates cat hair on each and every step. Hey, at least I don’t have to vacuum my stairway anymore! #5. Dust, Dust and more dust…I NEED THIS VACUUM!!!

    Posted by Kacie | May 10, 2009, 10:42 pm
  390. My biggest dilemna right now is that I have a bagless vacuum that I have to empty after only vacuuming one room in my house. If I don’t empty the container, I have no suction at all to pick up the dust, etc.

Posted by Janet Watson | May 10, 2009, 11:23 pm
  391. Keeping the bathroom floor clean around the toilet. I have boys. Also I wish I could figure out how to organize all of my craft and sewing items in a small amount of space. They always seem to be strung all over the place and I can’t find what I need, so the area is always a mess.

  399. I’d say my biggest dilemma is the stippled ceiling dropping pieces of itself onto the floor/counters below on a constant basis (I’m suprised there’s still stipple on the ceilings!). I’ve removed a lot of the stipple, but still have over half the house to do, and it is NOT fun.

  409. Ironically, vacuuming is my biggest challenge, because it is practically impossible to get the living room clean while my son is awake, but I don’t want to vacuum while he sleeps because I am afraid he will wake up! So I try to time my vacuuming for right after his afternoon nap!

  411. I need a vacuum that can handle laminate hardwood, linoleum and carpet. Sturdy enough to handle all the pet hair, but can also get dirt off the hard floors without pushing it around. I don’t like having to use a vacuum, a broom, a swiffer and a mop just for my floors. This looks like a fantastic vacuum!!

    Posted by Sarah | May 12, 2009, 10:22 am
  412. Our biggest issue is keeping our family room floor cleaned up. First, getting all the toys off it. Then trying to keep it free of dust, dirt and snack crumbs from 2 toddlers who won’t allow us to use a vacuum cleaner in their presence because they freak out from the noise. Which means either getting up at the crack of dawn or staying up late to clean the floors.

  414. My biggest problem cleaning is the laminate wood floors in our kitchen. You have to dry them by hand to avoid steaks on the floor!

  415. I have a ten month old that does no tlet me go out of her sight. So the only time I have two hands free is during naps! At that time I also have to find time for a shower, food, and to do other needed things!

  416. My biggest problem is the hardwood floors, it seems like I never stop sweeping. Wouldn’t a vacuum be nicer to use?! :o )

  417. Getting clothes put away after they are washed and folded. We live out of piles! It drives me nuts!

  418. My biggest cleaning dilemma as a Mom of four children, is to keep the floors clean. Whether it is carpet, or tile floors, they are always being tracked with dirt/mud, or catching the latest food/drink crumbs and messes from my little ones. It is so frustrating that I really have the desire to just “quit” cleaning sometimes. Thanks, and I hope to win this awesome vacuum!

  419. My biggest cleaning issue is that my husband and dog are always tracking in dirt, grass, leaves, or some other debris from outside. It never ends.

  420. Ditto to many of the other ladies..CLUTTER!! With 3 little girls and a border-collie, we find it hard to keep anything neat around our house! Would love a new vacumn to try to tidy things up!

  421. My biggest problem is finding time to keep everything done. As soon as I vacuum the living room, someone comes running through with a handful of cheerios and the next one runs through to crush them into the carpet. Ahhh, a mother’s work is never done!

  422. Biggest problem: Finding the perfect routine to get it all done – and finding a way to stop procrastinating!! :)

  423. OHHHH mama needs a new vacuum in a major major way! Ours is about five years old and gets very very heavy use. We have two kids under age 7 and two dogs that are indoor/outdoor and large (37 pounds and 70). My biggest challenge is keeping the house clean and not looking “too” dog friendly if you know what I mean. Dog hair and dust is a big problem. I’d love to win this Hoover!

  424. The stairs, cord and kids throwing things all over makes it nearly impossible to clean the floors unless my husband takes the kids out for a while.

  425. My biggest cleaning dilemma are my pets! Constantly having to vacuum the floor and somehow they always manage to get the part where the walls and floor meet filthy…right where the vacuum can’t reach!
