we usually have dinner here with the kids. we decorate and use candles and I make one of our favorites. This year, I bought the little mail boxes at Target and we are going to “send” each other notes all month:)
We usually celebrate Valentines Day pretty low key. If we can find child care this year, we plan on getting a couples massage
We get each other cards and maybe I get flowers and enjoy a late dinner together after the kids are in bed. Nothing fancy, but always special. I am already subbed, and follow on twitter
Hubby always gets me roses and we go out to dinner. That’s pretty much it,every year
I was invited to a “Absinthe Party” where I must dress as a person real or fictional from the 1890’s to the 1930’s. I’ll only be going if I can find a babysitter.
I subscribe to the momadvice blog feed
Each of the kids get a little box/bag of goodies. This year I got a little box from the Dollar Spot at Target and am filling it with some $1 items from there. We decide as a family what we want for dinner and my daughter and I make dessert.
I normally get small gifts for the kids and the hubby. I honestly can’t remember doing anything special as a couple for valentine’s day. I think I should request “romance” for valentine’s day…
I make many of my boys usual foods pink! We have pink milk, pink pancakes, pink mac & cheese (alfredo sauce colored pink) and pink lemonade. They love it! My husband and I usually go out around Valentines for his birthday (15) and Valentines Day combined.
I subscribe to all your feeds!
I follow you on twitter (hgrims)
We celebrate Valentines Day by making homemade valentine cards and cookies and then delivering them with fresh baked breads and fruits to all the widows in our church. We’ve done this for years and my children love this tradition and it also makes a day to celebrate “love” a little easier on those that have lost the loves of their life.
I subscribe to the feed of this blog. =0)
I joined your “no spend challenge” under my other blog called What’s Cooking. http://www.whatscooking4us.blogspot.com.
I’ve challenged myself to stop buying certain things to lower our grocery budget. We’ve committed to doing the Dave Ramsey financial program and we are 4 months into it. I’m inspired by your blog to press on! I feel very challenged and want to conquer some of these things!
I usually work on Valentine’s, but this year we are going to stay home and make a yummy dinner and spend time together.
We celebrate by having a fun “fancy” homemade dinner and trade small, usable gifts (new, cool sippy cup, etc).
I subscribe to your feeds.
For Valentines I never know how or if we will celebrate. My husband is in the military, and I can’t remember the last time he was here on 2/14. He did send me flowers when he was in Iraq, I remember that well. He will be here this year – I need to make plans. Is it February already?!?
I’m a subscriber!
i celebrate v-day by making pink cookies
i subscribe to your feed
and yes, i am no spending with you
We make homemade gifts and dinner with the whole family and have a special date night out just for my husband and I.
AND I suscribe to your feed!
We will celebrate Valentines by having dinner/movie at home…with our 16 yo son…LOL
I will cook a nice surprise dinner with dessert and everything.
We don’t do anything big on Valentine’s and prefer to show love year round, but I can’t help to make things into hearts. Heart snadwiches, heart finger jello, you know.

My DH and I had our first Valentine’s date at Gino’s East, while he was doing an internship in Chicago. Ever since then, we make/order yummy pizza on Valentine’s Day. Once he even shipped a pizza from Gino’s East all the way to our home in TN! Then we have a dinner date the week before or the week after.
I subscribe to your blog through my RSS reader!
V-Day: Well, it is goodies for the kids and usually a movie for dh & I. Nothing fancy or mushy.
I also subscribe to the MotherLoad and am going right now to also add the Aldi blog.
We don’t really celebrate Valentines day, but we do make an extra effort to listen to each other and act nicer that day.
I’m not quite sure what we will be doing for Valentine’s Day – our baby sitter moved off to college. I’ll probably just fix a nice meal for us to enjoy.
For valentines Day we buy each other these little stuffed animals that make noises when squeezed. They sit on our dressers and shelves and we squeeze them throught the year when we are having a bad day or just need to say I need some luvin.
My hubs is always out of town on Valentine’s Day, so we usually celebrate early or late with a nice home cooked dinner and a red & white jello cake. I’ll be posting about the jello cake soon, super easy and always a hit!
I’m following you on Twitter.
Of course I’m a subscriber
And you were my first “friend” on twitter!

We celebrate as a family! this year we are going to buy strawberry plants – our family gift to each other, and then are ordering Chinese food for supper.
I have subscribed with bloglines.
I usually celebrate Valentines day with my kids during the day and take them to lunch among other fun things…then it’s off with my hubby for a nice night out. This year will just be me and the kids since my hubby is gone with military stuff, and I’ll just have to put something in the mail for him to enjoy on V-day.
We make heart sugar cookies and homemade valentines. My oldest loves the valentines crafts!
I have been subscribing to the momadvice blog for quite some time now
We try to have a dinner out together – it doesn’t always work out that way, though! Our dates are few and far between.
We don’t have a Valentine’s tradition of any sort… but one of my favorites was when three other couples and us rented a limo and drove downtown for a fancy dinner – and it was a surprise all arranged by the guys!
I subscribe in my Google Reader, too!
We actually don’t do anything for Valentine’s Day. I don’t like flowers or chocolate and we are broke. Kinda takes the fun out of a ‘go out to dinner’ holiday.
Also. I subscribe to motherload and will soon be subscribing to your other blogs. *fingers crossed*
We moved last fall, so we’ll make cards or a Valentine craft and deliver them to all of our neighbors. And we’ll eat chocolate, of course!
Valentines Day around here is pretty much the same as every other day. We do at least say Happy Valentines day to each other. LOL
I do make sure my kids get a heart shaped box of candy so they know how special they are to us.
We do two special nights – one a date w/ my hubby: Cheesecake Factory and the other a special dinner w/ the kiddos where I make what I made hubs for our first date: chicken parmesan.
Alright, here goes.
I am following you on twitter (gmayfair).
I am subscribed to all three of your blogs.
I am gonna TRY to not spend any money for a week. (I think I’m just not going to leave the house. that’s probably the safest way for me not to spend money..ha)
We make elaborate homemade valentines and send them to our family away from us. We do something special for our kids and make sure to included lots of snuggles and hugs. And we cook a special meal at home for us all to share (cheaper and better than the crowded restaurants). My husband and I exchange small heartfelt gifts and enjoy relaxing together after the kids go to bed with a special dessert and sparkling grape juice. Thanks for the chance!
We usually don’t do much for Valentine’s Day. We don’t go out because the few restaurants in our town are packed. We usually just buy a small gift and tell each other how much we love each other. That is celebration enough for us!
I subscribe to you! That would be awesome to win!
My husband gives me a card and chocolate and we just hang out at home with the kids. We usually give them some kind of candy also.
Thanks for a fun giveaway!
I subscribe to your MomAdvice site. Love it! Thanks!
My husband and I usually celebrate V-Day by going to dinner and getting each other a card. He usually gets me flowers even though I tell him they are too expensive and he doesn’t have to do that. This year, we have a 4 month old son, so things might be a little different!
I’m subscribed to your feeds
On Valentine’s Day I typically send a card to my mom and send out e-mails to my friends, but the last couple of years I’ve been working and away from loved ones so it’s mostly long-distance love to be sent.
I am subscribed to The Motherload.
I realized when my last comment posted that the one right before mine is “Dee” with no blog too but I guess you can tell us apart by our e-mail, right?
Following you on Twitter @mpugmire
Hubby and I celebrate Valentine’s Day by having a special dinner cooked at home together. Usually, steaks with baked potatoes, salad and a chocolaty dessert. Wine of course with the meal.
My Dad’s birthday is Valentine’s Day, so it’s never really been a romantic holiday for me… it’s more about showing appreciation for the ones you love… and cake!

we start the day with something heart shaped for breakfast, pancakes or french toast usually! On red plates no less!
I love to do the 14 days of Valentine’s for my husband. I do something little each day leading up to the big day and then make a nice dinner and go somewhere fun with him. It makes it more memorable when I do the little things like leave him notes with a candy bar, etc.
I like to make my family a special dinner. We give the kids and Grandma a special treat and a love note for the day.
We usually try to go out for a dinner alone, but this year we’re hoping to go see the Cirque du Soleil show, Kooza. Crossing my fingers!
We have been married so long and have so many kids, we don’t really celebrate. Sad, isn’t it?
We usually don’t celebrate on the exact day, we usually go to dinner and try to do something fun. This year we have a birthday party to go to and then we might do something fun with our daughter.
I am a subscriber and have been for a long time!
I subscribe to the Mother Lode blog on Google reader.
I LOVE motherload!!!! My hubby and I don’t do anything Valentine’s Day BUT since our wedding anniversary is 2 weeks later – we will do dinner that night!!!
I already follow you on Twitter. My handle is Angie’s Spot. Thanks!
In years past, my husband and I have celebrated Valentine’s Day by taking a trip to the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, taking advantage of the low winter rates. We skipped the trip in 2007 because we had a newborn, but we took him with us last year and had loads of fun. It’s quite funny watching a 1-year-old eat messy chocolate fondue. This year, we’re spending the holiday at home, just the three of us. It seems wrong to leave our beloved son out of our Valentine’s day celebration. But my husband and I are planning to get away on Valentine’s Weekend for a long, romantic dinner at a grownup restaurant while the grandparents babysit. And we’re using a $75 gift certificate (a gift from one of my clients) to pay for it. That will make it even sweeter.
we try to show our love for each other by NOT spending any $$. We celebrate at home and go to bed early. A perfect day.
Hubby and I make each other cards, and I make a nice dinner. We toast each other using the champagne glasses from our wedding. Andf we cuddle.
Since having kids we usually just have a nice dinner at home and then have an in-home movie night after the kids go to bed. This year I’m going to attempt making my hubby’s favorite dessert – baklava. Maybe we can eat some with wine by candlelight when the kids go to sleep.
We always make a really nice meal at home for Valentines Day. We have made filet mignon, lobster, and cheese fondue in the past.
I subscribe to the Motherload.
We go to the Melting Pot to celebrate Valentine’s Day. It’s also the anniversary of the day we got engaged so it’s a big day for us.
I also subscribe to all three blogs via Google Reader
How do I celebrate Valentine’s Day? We don’t do too much for V-day since our anniversary is just four days later, and we LOVE to celebrate that! We went out to dinner on Valentine’s last year, but it was so crazy crowded, hard to get reservations and expensive that we decided to just stay in this year and have a lovely anniversary celebration the next weekend!
I subscribe to your mother load blog but didn’t realize you had other blogs! I’ll subscribe and post again. Thanks for the awesome giveaway! There’s no way on earth we could afford an ipod so it would be a lavish treat to win!
i’m subscribed to at least one feed – i don’t know if i realized there were multiple feeds!! i’ll have to go look into this…
We haven’t been married very long, but in the past we’ve gone to an Indian Restaurant and eaten lots of yummy food over candle light.

I celebrate Valentine’s day at home with my husband. (We’ve gone out previous years, but don’t really like the crowds.) A romantic dinner and night at home is just about right!

with a big Toblerone bar. My husband has been getting them for me for 15 yrs now!
We are pretty low key on Valentines day. We do have plans to take our 3 yr old son the the TN Aquarium for a Penguin party that morning. In the evening my husband and I will probably have a favorite dinner, exchange small but thoughtful gifts and watch a favorite movie or TV show.

We usually celebrate V-Day by giving the kids some small gifts, baking and decorating sugar cookies, and sometimes hubby and I go out to dinner and leave the kids with mom and dad.
We try to make every part of the day special. Morning will bring gifts at the table with special breakfast, crafts during the day and dinner out at night.
valentine’s day is just another day around here in this single woman’s house, but it would look much brighter with an iPod Touch.
i read all three of your blogs already in my google reader!
Actually Valentine’s Day is my husband’s birthday so we celebrate it was a birthday party! With cake and presents for him. Its not normally the like others probably celebrate, its my husband’s day and I prefer it be his alone, although he usually buys me a little gift.
I subscribe to your Motherload blog — hence where I found out about this giveaway! thanks
My husband and I just spend the day together doing something fun. Sometimes we go to dinner and sometimes we just stay home and watch a movie that we both want to see. Maybe fix a special dinner too.
We don’t have any Valentines Day traditions yet, but I have gotten our girls some bubble bath and foamy soap to give them. Thanks for the giveaway!
I am already subscribed to “The Motherload”. Thank you!
My DH and I are pretty low-key about valentine’s day. But for our kids we are starting our celebration today- with a daily valentine mission- make valentine cupcakes, make valentine cards, do something loving for someone else, etc! Similar to out advent calendar (went over really big with my two year old!).
I subscribe to your feed! And LOVE it
Following on Twitter, too! Thank you!
Amy, thanks for the opportunity to win!
We usually do dinner at home or out to eat the weekend before or after the big day, just to avoid madness. This year we got discount tickets to Coco Key indoor water resort for the three of us. Our son is so excited!
i like to make a special dinner for my family. one year i made homemade pizza in the shape of a heart.
I am joining the “no spend challenge”- for at least two weeks this month!
We usually do something fun for the kids, red & pink colored foods like pancakes or cupcakes. This year we will do pancakes since it is a Saturday and breakfast won’t be so rushed!
This year for Valentine’s Day I plan to make homemade marshmallows with my 3 year old daughter and package them with some bags I have left over from another project and then deliver them to friends and family. Wish me luck. I’m guessing that it will get messy…
I’m a subscriber!
We celebrate Valentine’s Day by going out to eat as a family! It took 3 1/2 years to have our son, so everyday is a special one. My husband let’s me pick the restaurant though!
We buy each of our kids a small heart full of chocolates and we bake some heart-shaped cookies together. My hubby and I try to have dinner together and he usually buys me flowers.
For Valentine’s Day we go out for dinner or I fix a special dinner at home.
I subscribe to your blogs.
I subscribe in google reader!
We celebrate by going to a little Mexican restaurant in the city. It’s set up like a Spanish/Mexican villa with an atrium in the middle. The last time we went there were three guys in the booth next to us who paid the mariachi band to play break-up songs all night. It was hilarious!
My husband said you got his vote.
Ha! I love you!
I subscribe to the blog Motherload
We enjoy Valentines day as a family. Sharing meal preparation-fondue! We have cheese fondue and chocolate fondue. The kids love to help chop and also dip! Afterwards, we watch a movie or play a game!
Just clicked “follow” over at Twitter as well. @cbroxton
Awesome giveaway!
We celebrate V-day by exchanging cute cards. That’s it, but it’s enough.
AND I follow you on Twitter, of course!
I’m a homeschool mom, and I always try to do something fun for the kids. Their favorite is simply helping to make a heart cake. (using one square pan and one circle pan, cut circle in half and put on two adjacent sides of square to make heart shape) My favorite when they were younger, was looking through magazines for heart shaped things, cutting them out, and making homemade cards.
We don’t usually have a specific way we celebrate Valentine’s day every year…as a matter of fact we’ve been married almost 16 years and it has NEVER been the same. Some times it’s dinner out, sometimes it might be a movie, sometimes it is dinner at home, but it almost always together. We gave up on the “gifts” about 10 years ago and have opted to do something special for each other based off our “love languages” (his is acts of service, mine is gifts/words of encouragement). We’re simple but steady.
We celebrate valentines day very simply. There is no fuss no flowers no big deals. Now that we have children we celebrate with them. We don’t plan a big elaborate dinner or anything either because our kids are ages 2 and 1. We savor and enjoy all family time. Anything else is an added bonus
My husband doesn’t “do” Valentine’s Day. His excuse is that it is a Hallmark holiday. I celebrate Valentine’s Day by making a special craft and dessert with my kids. We usually make cupcakes (red velvet of course).
This will be 1st year I get to really celebrate in a long time and it’s all about loving myself!
Wait, before you jump to any weird conclusions, I’ve recently left a long, long, long marriage & have found my own company very pleasant. I’ll be celebrating Valentine’s Day this year with my 12yo son, the love of my life, having all our favorite foods like crab, shrimp, pasta & Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream. Going to be a fabulous Valentine’s Day & would be even better if I win the IPod ;~D
Thanks so much for your generosity!
I leave my hubby a lipstick message on the bathroom mirror before I go to work in the morning. We usually meet up for dinner and a movie.
I’ve added you as a follower on twitter. I hope you do the same!
My husband of 44 years takes me out to dinner along with our 11 year old daughter who just loves Valentines Day.
I’ve subscribed.
Before kids, we always went to our favorite Japanese restaurant. Then sometimes we would go see a $2 movie or rent a movie to take home. Now after kids, sometimes it’s hard to get out of the house!
We skip the restaurant rush and make a romantic dinner together at home.
following you on Twitter!
I’ve been married almost three years. Before Ed, my Valentine’s Day celebrations were nonexistent. Now, we usually eat dinner at home. Often he buys me flowers. Last year he bought me heart-shaped doughnuts from Krispy Kreme.
We celebrate Valentine’s day by reading several Valentine’s children’s books that we own with the kids and then having a nice dinner with special treats. If we have the money, sometimes I like to get little gifts for the kids, too.
Thanks for hosting this wonderful contest!
I have been subscribed to your blog for a while. I guess it may pay off even more now!
We celebrate pretty simply. I usually try to make heart-shaped something. My kids got homemade heart-shaped pop-tarts served on pink heart shaped plates with strawberry milk for breakfast last year. Since it’s so crowded to go out on Valentine’s Day, we usually stay in and then go out another time.
My man and I cook dinner together with expensive ingredients we’d normally not allow ourselves in the budget. It saves money over any restaurant meal we would buy and we get to stay at home where it’s about 100 times more romantic than some crowded restaurant with frazzled waiters.
We’re pretty low key on valentine’s day – I usually make my husband his favorite meal, and we eat it at home together with candles lit.
I subscribe!
I follow you on Twitter!
We don’t do terribly much – we’ll find or make cheesy lovey cards and maybe go for dinner but we keep things very low key.
Just signed up for the No Spend Challenge…we’re going to try and do at least 10-15 days out of the month no spend!
We like to eat mostly all red or pink foods on Valentine’s Day. Dad always gets the kids a small box of chocolates.
I cook a nice steak dinner at home and we eat by candlelight.
Well how exciting is that Amy! We don’t do anything special on Valentine’s Day as a couple (our Anniversary is March 4th only a couple of weeks later so that is the day we celebrate) but I like to make Valentine’s Day about the kids and making it special for them. Usually a nice dinner with pretty decorations
For valentines day, we keep it simple – the family dresses in red and has fun preparing and sharing a nice meal. It’s great!
I also subscribe to your feed via reader. Thanks!
For the past couple of years my monkeys and I have made some sort of sweet treat. Heart shaped cookies with frosting, or cupcakes with frosting and sprinkles.
I just subscribed to MotherLoad. Looks like a great blog.

My husband and I usually celebrate Valentine’s Day by taking a romantic little overnight trip out of town.
We don’t do much of anything fancy around here. Before the kids it was dinner and a movie. With the kids it’s usually some nice take out and a rented movie with the kids.
Nell
Um, we haven’t actually gotten far enough to worry about Vday yet, sad! Hopefully we will get a sitter and have dinner out or hang out at our favorite pie joint with a board game by the fire.

I like to celebrate Valentines Day by eating candy conversation hearts!
We usually give the children something with chocolate. My husband and I are going out for dinner.
We always celebrate on a day around Valentine’s Day – usually eating out on a different night to avoid the crowds, and then we have a cozy night at home on the actual holiday.
subscriber!
This year the hubby and I are planning on spending Valentine’s Day in. Maybe a nice dinner, fancy dessert, cuddling, etc!
We celebrate Valentine’s day in a very low key way. We always make each other gifts or find clever no spending ways to show our love. Last year my husband made a heart in the snow with the snowblower for me!
I follow you on Twitter.
We usually just eat dinner at home and plan for a night out on a less busy resturant night. In prep for the day, I usually make Valentine’s Day cards with my daughter for her to send out. We make heart-shaped cookies too. And she always has a few Valentine outfits to sport in the days prior to Valentine’s Day.

We usually celebrate Valentine’s Day by giving each other a small gift and going out to dinner.
Valentines day will be a combo of writing for my legal process paper and romantic dinner by candle light… If I can pull it off
This year I am planning my daughter’s class Valentine’s Day party. We also like to use up one of our restaurant gift cards that we received as a Christmas gift and bring dinner home for the family. No cooking for me! I also want to try and make “heart crayons” with my 2 older girls.
We don’t really have a thing.
In the past we have celebrated by going to a church dance (was really fun!), going to dinner, staying home and getting a movie.
But we always do SOMETHING.
We actually don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. but every day my husband and I express how much we care about one another.
I don’t necessarily do anything special on Valentine’s Day…I just always make sure that my boyfriend and I are able to spend at least part of the day together.
I also added you on Twitter…I’m VerySmallAnna.
Valentine’s Day – we usually go out to eat but with Tai’s current extreme separation anxiety we may be eating in
Our favorite is Don Quixote’s Spanish restaurant in Valpo….spicy cauliflower is yummmmmmy. This year Jeremy wants to try that new Japanese Bistro. I’m scared, so I’m game
Since we have 3 small kids, we usually end up making a nice dinner at home, and snuggling up with a movie after the kids are in bed. This year, we’re considering trying to get a sitter, but that’s still up for debate!
Our usual experience on Valentines Day involves helping the kids show us how much they love us and we love them. We usually exchange cards, but don’t do anything too big.
I subscribe to one of your blogs, but the link in the message wasn’t working to add the others!
My husband is a basketball coach and there District Championships almost always undoubtedly fall on Valentine’s Day. This goes all the way back to our very first Valentine’s Day our senior year in high school. So, we have made it a tradition to not celebrate Valentine’s Day and we both admit that we wouldn’t want it any other way
We just got married a month ago so we don’t have any traditions yet. I’ll probably make a Valentine breakfast and we’ll give each other treats and go out to dinner and maybe a movie. We’re excited to celebrate together!
We usually celebrate Valentine’s Day by ordering dinner to go somewhere and then having a family picnic on the floor. I’m thrilled to not have to cooked, our daughter loves the novelty of an indoor picnic, and my husband loves getting to pick out the menu. I make a custom desert involving hearts (either a pie with heart cutouts or cookies with special frosting) and we curl up and watch movies until the little one goes to bed.
I love Valentine’s Day. Any excuse to celebrate love is good for me. We don’t usually do anything, but my hubby brings me flowers. That’s enough.
I subscribed to all three of your blogs.
I joined the no spend challenge and will try to not spend any money the third week of February.
My husband and I both agree that Valentine’s Day gives us the perfect reason to go out for dinner and a movie or to get take out and rent a movie.
When work allows, we do heart pancakes!

Since we’ve had kids, we usually make a heart-shaped pizza, then have cupcakes or something yummy for dessert.

We are pretty low key with Valentine’s Day. We usually have a special dinner together, either at home or at a restaurant.
I’m subscribed to your Motherload blog.
We usually have a fun dinner which includes red and pink foods too. The table is decorated in these colors and we usually dress in them too.
As awful as this sounds, we don’t do much of anything!! We celebrate with a dinner at home with the kids. We usually make heart shaped cookies that the girls decorate with red sprinkles! We make each other cards instead of buying them. It is all very low key at our house.
My husband usually plans the date, but there is usually a homemade card and frugal, but thoughtful gift involved. Simple and sincere.

My husband and I celebrate by having dinner at IHOP. I was attending a computer meeting on St. Valentine’s Day and met him there. After the meeting we decided to have a cup of coffee and the IHOP was around the corner. The rest is history.
Sounds corny but we would never change how we celebrate the day we met.

I will be all by my lonesome. I am desperately single and a grad student wit no money and no man… but this would totally make it the best Valentines I ever had… well maybe not as good as leaving for Spain on Valentines day 3 years ago, but that was a little sad too!
Thanks!

My husband and I will exchange gifts but don’t go out that night. We’ll have a date night the following weekend. My son is 2 1/2 so we are going to make a Valentine for Daddy this year.
Instead of going out to dinner, we go out to a relaxed lunch together…this way we don’t have to get a babysitter and it’s such a treat to have a long, nice lunch with my honey!
We are also low key. I cook a nice dinner for the family and make a nice dessert. My fav healthy Valentine dessert is raspberry sherbet molded in heart shapes topped with chocolate shavings.
I subscribe to the Motherload and Motherloot blogs!
Husband gets at least a greeting card. Most likely something with a Reeses label to go with it. Otherwise an ordinary day. My fantasy Valentine’s Day looks much different!
We celebrate Valentine’s by doing what we do every day…enjoying each others’ company!

We celebrate Valentine’s Day by eating things that are red or pink for dinner (such as spaghetti, apples, strawberry milk) and making cards for each other.
We usually make our own special dinner at home for V-day.
I’m subscribed to your blog. Thanks!
I celebrate Valentine’s by sending photo cards rather than doing them at Christmas. It’s fun doing them at a different time and our family members have a fun treat. We also use a Valentine’s theme for everything from our dress to food (red, pink, heart shaped, etc!). I think it’s important to show loved ones they are special every day but it’s also great to have a special to celebrate love!
I will be spending V-day with my husband and two daughters probably eating yummy valentine cookies. After the kids go to bed, we will probably drink some proseco and hang out.
I am also a subscriber via Google reader!!
This year we will be having a heart shaped pizza I’m having shipped from Chicago to Salt Lake City.
Our kids are grown, but my daughter has given use two precious little girls to love. I usually buy the girls (before Valentine’s Day) some nice decorations for the windows and some garlands so that they can get the house in the mood for the holiday. They live over 2 hours away from us, so sometimes (when the weather allows here in the Northeast) we’ve driven down to their home after notifying them that they have free babysitting for the evening so that my daughter and her husband can go out to dinner (alone!) This is a lot of love and fun for everyone!
I forgot to tell you that I subscribe to your RSS feed on my MyYahoo! Homepage!
My daughter and I try to make some special Valentine’s to send to our far-off much-beloved family. We love coming up with a creative, crafty card to tell them how much we love them!

Vday? Dinner with a BOGO free coupon?
We keep Valentine’s day pretty quiet. We put a $20 limit on gifts which allows us to get something thoughtful without breaking the bank. This year, if the weather is nice, we’ll go to the beach as a family and then have take out and watch a DVD after the kiddo is in bed.

We’re going on a mid-winter vacation this year, but not because it’s Valentine’s Day.
Each year instead of doing something terribly romantic we make it a family affair. I make reservations at the same restaurant (Buca Di Beppo) for my parents, my husband, my kids, my two nephews, my niece, any of my dateless siblings and myself. We have a huge dinner and laugh our heads off. A night out with my hubby is nice but a huge family dinner beats all!
We usually just celebrate with the kids. Then on the 24th we celebrate our half year anniversary, since there’ less people out. We go for a walk somewhere to explore and we also go for restaurant.

We’re still deciding. I’m tempted to do a family dinner. Our anniversary is fairly close, so it might be nice to wait ’til then for a big deal celebration.
We celebrate Valentine’s Day by preparing an extra special dinner for our family. All of us make homemade cards (including my husband) and put them into out valentine’s mail box (a shoebox wrapped in heart wrapping paper). We buy conversation hearts and spread them on the table for decorations. We eat our special meal and then open our mailbox. Last year we had 6 single friends join us. We had a great time.

I still don’t know what we will do on Valentine’s Day. My wife’s birthday is on February 10th and I am preparing it at the time being. We also have a 5 month old baby girl and need to figure out how to combine the fun with the parenting
My husband and I try to have a special date night sometime close to Valentine’s Day. We are traveling this Valentine’s Day and are taking the ingredients for red velvet cake and heart sprinkles with us – to share with our special friends on Valentine’s Day.
I subscibe to your feed! Love your blog
Every year it is something different. My husband’s job puts him on call every Monday and Thursaday, every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We don’t always get to spend the day as we would like, but somewhere near that day, we get to go out to dinner. My favorite place to go is Texas Roadhouse. Sometimes we just have a quiet dinner at home if he is on call.
Thanks for a chance to win and have a great day.

There HAS to be chocolate! We don’t do gifts anymore – but I always bake something chocolate for dessert, usually a big fat cake.
I don’t have a normal valentine’s day routine, but this year hubby and I will be on a transatlantic airplane… yuck. but at least we will be together!
This year I will be making heart shaped pancakes for my husband and daughter for breakfast. That afternoon we’ll probably go to the childrens museum together, while that evening my husband I will go out for dinner. But the big treat this year- My husband and I are going away for the weekend before Valentine’s Day.
I’m a Motherload subscriber.
We decorate the dining area with paper hearts. And I usually make dinner made with a bunch of red foods. Heart shaped meatloaf covered in red sauce, red jello, red kool-aid, etc. This is obviously not healthy and more for the kids.
But they like it!

Since our first Valentine’s together as a married couple ended up with a 3 hour wait for dinner, we decided to only ever go out to lunch on Valentine’s Day. With only one or two exceptions, we’ve honored that tradition for the last 13 years!
And since having children, we’ve made Valentine’s Day a family affair. I always bake a heart shaped strawberry cake and make a special dinner. I usually give the kids a special Valentine as well.
This Valentine’s Day will be frugal yet special. I honestly don’t want to spend the evening in a crowded restaurant followed by a terrible night’s sleep because the baby is off of her bedtime routine. SO! We are staying home. We’ve decided to get each other small but practical gifts (surprises too!) and make dinner. We are planning a menu of our favorite foods/dessert. Should be fun!

My hubby & I usually celebrate Valentine’s Day by simply spending time alone together. It’s something we don’t get very often. We don’t do anything exciting – usually it’s talking, some take-out, and a rented movie – but it’s together!

I’m doing 1-4!! February 14 is actually my husband’s birthday so we usually celebrate that with a BIG dinner. This year he wants to stay in and have steaks and shrimp. It ALSO is the day we met, so usually is just a symbolic day!
It is just my son and I so I make a special dinner for the two of us with as much heart shaped food as possible!
We don’t really get into Valentines day. I feel like I would rather my husband just buy me some flowers on any day, not a day he is made to feel like he has to do it.
It is going to be a quiet evening for my husband and I. We will most likely have a nice meal at home.
For valentines day i will be giving my children cards, and a little candy, we write notes to each other and send cards to the grandparents. This year we will also be doing a few art projects using hearts!
For years, we have skipped to meal out on Valentines Day (too rushed and too expensive) I make a very special meal that I plan for weeks (buying items on sale).
We rent a movie after eating and enjoy each other’s company. This works for us because we have something unusual but didn’t break the bank. I actually look forward to it more than going out.
Dianne
For Valentine’s Day we usually go out to eat. Only we go a day or two before or after so we can miss the crowds. Then we usally either come home and watch a movie (this year we will be watching Fireproof), or we go bowling.

We celebrate by spending time together usually at a restaurant, sometimes with our daughter, sometimes alone if the babysitter is available! Hi! I’m your newest friend on Twitter
Pleased to meet you!
Valentine’s Day is pretty low key here. I always buy my kids a box of those little candy hearts with the words on them. They were a sweet addition when my kids were learning to read, and even though they are now grown, they still love them! Sometimes, my hubby and I will go out for a quiet, romantic dinner
I’m doing the no-spend challenge for a week. I’ve been doing a modified version for the last two months, and we’ve definitely got those finances back where they should be. But for this week, I’m going all out and cutting all spending for us out of the budget. (We will get a few specialty ingredients for lunch on Wednesday, as we’re hosting a little boy with a ton of allergies.)
We always try to cook a special Valentine’s Day meal together. Light some candles, use the good china. It makes it special.
We celebrate Valentine’s Day with a romantic dinner and wine, usually sushi and sake!
It’s been a while since I actually celebrated Valentine’s day but this is my first year as a single mom so my boys and I will be celebrating with a nice family dinner (probably homemade pizza so they can help me cook!) I’m sure we’ll make some yummy chocolate goodies for dessert too…it is Valentine’s day after all!

A couple of years ago, we found a small, local, out of the way pub that was offering an ‘intimate’ Valentines dinner. We weren’t expecting much, but were pleasantly surprised by what we found when we arrived; candles, white linen, a glass of champagne already on the table, and a really nice dinner. We have been going back every year since, and have not been disappointed.
Just a nice dinner, haha
This would be great to win
We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day. My husband always gets me flowers even though I think they’re a waste, since they die so quickly and we just have to hide them away from the cats.
This year, with two kids, who knows what we’ll do? I’ll look for any excuse to get take out. But with our anniversary less than a week before, we don’t do much.

We will celebrate this year at church, with dinner, dancing and great friends. We are also going away the night before so that we can actually be a couple for a while, instead of mommy and daddy! We are both looking forward to it!
I celebrate with my kids with cards and a special treat of some kind. That’s about it. I am a single mom, so I make the day about them and not about me. It means a lot when they bring homemade Valentine’s to me, though, even at 13 and 10. Sometimes they still do.

As a mother of 4 and one being a newborn I can’t say that we will get to go out this year. So we plan on making cards and projects with the kids for fun. As for our romantic dinner….we will order in and have a family dinner. And a movie to end the night. Just enjoy the day with my family.
I’ll be spending Valentines Day with a nice quiet meal with my husband. Our schedules have been pretty crazy lately, so I’m really looking forward to spending some time together- just us and a nice meal!
My husband and I have always just exchanged cards and made a little gift for our daughter. However, after 14 years he surprised me with tickets to a hockey game this year. I will give him a big “A” for effort since I did mention several months ago that I would like to go to a game. The tickets were too much so we decided to wait for another time. To top it all, he got the tickets only because they were buy one get one free. What a deal.

We’ve never been able to do much financially for Valentine’s Day. I’ll normally cook a special dinner (or hubby will cook for me – my favorite!) and we snuggle up with a movie. This year I’ve put a little extra aside, though, and I’m going to try a make it extra romantic!
We usually go out for a fancy dinner (but we try to do it a few days (or even a weekend) away from Valentine’s to avoid the heavy crowds and more-difficult-to-get reservations.
We celebrate with chocolate, romantic cards, and a small gift. We will go out for a romantic dinner! I love Valentines day ~ I love my man more than I can say!
I celebrate by hanging out with my family. Cooking dinner, making heart shaped cookies, and snuggling in for a movie.
we usually stay home and my husband cooks a seafood dinner. rather low key night.
We usually celebrate with a small gift for the kids and each other. Usually with all the other activities in the house (scouts, wrestling, dance, volleyball, etc) it’s just another day – other than a small gift. I’m looking forward to this year – it’s a saturday and we’ll have the whole day as a family.
My husband and I always get a sitter, choose a fancy restaurant, and have a night out.
just spending the day at home with my family!
My husband and I usually go out to dinner the weekend before when it’s not crazy busy. Then I plan some cookie baking for the kids and we decorate valentines!!
Unfortunately, i have to work on valentine day. I have had to work for the last 2 years. I am a massage therapist and we are extremely busy during that time.

My husband usually has speaking engagements over Valentines Day. In our seven years of marriage, we have yet to spend one actual “Valentine Day” together! =) Instead, we usually go out a day or so before and enjoy a quiet dinner. It actually works out well, because there isn’t much of a wait at most restaurants!
It always depends on if hubby is working or not but usually just dining out and cards to each other, plus the hugs.
My hubby usually fixes me dinner and we spend it with our children. Thanks for the chance to win this great prize!!!

My husband and I usually try to go out for dinner, but I always make a special breakfast for my three daughters and give each of them a Valentine’s Day book.
It’s so sad, but we really don’t do much for Valentine’s Day. My hubby and I exchange cards. This year, I want to make it special for my 2 1/2 year old.
We have gone out to eat as a couple in the past, however this year we decided to celebrate with our boys. We will let them decorate Valentine cupcakes and play board games and hopefully get a copy of Space Buddies. They are dying to see it! As for the “grown up” part.. we will grill steaks, fix a salad, and some bread…then enjoy the silence after they fall asleep!
Good question! We have a four month old now, I don’t know what we’ll do! In the past we’ve gone out to dinner and came home and cuddled up on the couch to watched a movie. Now it might be out to dinner with the boy and home to put him to bed then cuddle up to watch a movie…

We don’t usually celebrate Valentines Day. I have a hard time getting my husband to remember my birthday or our anniversary. Everyone once in awhile he will surprise me with flowers though which is wonderful.
I subscribe via feed demon.
Following on twitter now.
I really like to celebrate V-day ALL day. I like to make pink breakfasts before school, and to have special dinner. Then something special with my Husband later after the kids go to bed. EVERYONE in our family feels the love that day.
Love your blog! I subscribed via google. Thanks
We always try to go somewhere new with the kids. We make it a trip and also throw in Presedents day. This year falls on a friday so we are going to new Orleans.
For Valentines we usually have a special dinner, either at home or away, and my kids make bunches of heart-shaped sugar cookies.
Last Year, I had Knee surgery, so I didn’t get to eat breakfast, lunch, and I was very nauseated from the Anesthesia, so I didn’t eat dinner either.
But, my husband bought me a dozen of Roses and a beautiful card.
Because the economy is so bad, this year, I plan to make him heart shaped pancakes for breakfast, a home-made card and a red velvet cake for dessert. Maybe, he will make me a nice candle-light dinner.

I’ll be spending it with my family! Can’t wait
I usually bake something heart-shaped: cookies, cake, cupcakes, etc.
I am now following you on twitter. Hello!
I just enjoy a simple homemade meal with my loved ones and we share with each other what we are grateful about each other.
Valentine’s Day is right after our anniversary, so we usually just do a low key dinner at home.
I subscribed!
We don’t really do much for Valentine’s Day. We have a nice home-cooked meal.
Dinner and well of course CHOCOLATE
For V-day we usually just do a nice dinner out. This year we are going to a quaint little Tea House/Cafe for a romantic dinner.
Valentine’s Day is also my hubby’s bday so we usually try to do a special dinner or night out. This V Day we are actually going to be at a wedding – two of our good friends are getting married! So that will be pretty neat.
I’m a new subscriber! Just subbed to all 3 of your blogs. Thanks!
I celebrate Valentine’s Day with a relaxing evening at home with hubby. Order in from our favorite Italian Restaurant, rent a movie, and relax.

sadly, we will be home doing nothing this year
We actually don’t really celebrate valentine’s Day. We get each other a card, but that’s it. We try to save money so we can splurge on birthdays instead.
We are going out for a nice dinner

My husband and I try to take an extra moment or two out of the day just to reflect on how far we have come in our relationship. We met on Valentines Party and it is always fun to remember that day.

we dont really celebrate Valentines Day in a big way maybe a card. or a song. I guess we should vamp it up a bit in the following years!
Valentines day is also my birthday. I love it because everyone is in such a good mood. Usually my husband send me flowers & we go out to eat. Wonderful giveaway.
This year we’re keeping it simple – but I will make my hubby’s favorite dessert and a nice meal at home.
This year for Valentine’s Day, my husband and I are going to the theatre and will be staying downtown in the city. I’m very excited!
I have never really had a good valentine’s day….:( hopefully this year will be different and I will actually get to celebrate.
This year I will be spending Valentine’s Day on an airplane heading to Florida!!!!

We’ll just celebrate by having a nice meal at home. Not big on cards or gifts.
I follow you on twitter.
Valentine’s Day is my birthday, so my husband and I celebrate my birthday on the 14th and push back Valentine’s Day by a week–it makes flowers cheaper too!
We celebrate VDay with parties at the kids’ school, heart shaped pancakes, strawberry shortcake with heart shaped fresh sliced strawberries, and lots of kisses!
Thanks for the opportunity to win!
I’m following you on twitter. I’m contestcontessa.
I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day
Lately we have been celebrating Valentine’s Day by going to a play. It has been fun. Hopefully our tickets are already secured for next week!
We usually go out, but I think its something different every year. I think this year we will be doing a special dinner at home and getting some wine or something…trying to save money

the kids and i make heart shaped cookies and decorate them, then they make their daddy a card and we just have a family dinner. maybe some nice chocolate too.
Thank you for hosting this! My husband and I try not to make a big deal of Valentine’s day, for his sake.
Instead I am allowed to harp on him for my 1/2 birthday (real b-day is Aug. 14), which just happens to fall on valentine’s day as well. It makes it silly and easier to celebrate. In our house, on your half birthday you are allowed to pick the place to eat lunch or dinner.
We are going to have a nice dinner at home, and maybe go see a movie!
I follow your blog on Google Reader!
well we have the handmade cards only rule. and then my husband and i will go out for a nice dinner as close to valentines day as possible. we usually don’t exchange gifts, but this year i am going to surprise him with some cologne.
We have an anniversary that is very close to Valentines Day. My husband travels so sometimes our ability to celebrate can be tough…I am thinking of setting up a couples massage for us to celebrate these dates …I think this would be a neat way to celebrate 17 years…
We ususally skip Valentine’s day and save money. But since it’s on a Sat this year…maybe we’ll go out for a few drinks.
Valentines day – we try to get a sitter but that usually doesn’t happen. So we’ll just have a quiet dinner at home, followed by chasing after kids!

We usually have Valentines dinner with our kids and sometimes friends or family. Last year I did a dinner for our family, my mom, brother, sister in law and some friends, we had a great time!

We usually stay at home, watch movies and order food in. It is wonderful.
this will be my first married valentine’s day with my hubby. since it’s a saturday, we’ll start the evening like our first official day, with going to church together. then we’re out to dinner at PF Changs’. It’s a special treat to go some where without a coupon.
I sucribed to your feed now!
This is a great giveaway. I want one of these so badly.
We celebrate Valentine’s day by having a special dinner with my husband and daughter.
This year we are celebrating Valentine’s Day in Hong Kong on our way to adopt our second child from China. We can not wait.
You may want to delete me (#27 on Mr. Linky) – I don’t actually have a blog for anyone to follow, so I added you as the URL (I couldn’t join without one). I wanted to commit to doing it though, so I am satisfied even if you need to delete
I’m going for 5 days out of 7 for each week in February, and keeping on budget for those other 2 days (no splurging).
We celebrate valentine’s day and our anniversary with a romantic dinner and remembering the wonderful times we’ve had together.
We decorate the house with hearts, have a nice dinner with the kids and exchange small gifts.
Valentines day? Hmmm…we don’t get all sentimental and crazy on that day.
It isn’t the only day for love to us.
We usually don’t do much at all.
Maybe a special dinner.
I celebrate Valentine’s Day with my son. He loves me no matter what!
We celebrate Valentines by having a special dinner as a family. I send Valentine candy in my kids lunches. We bake and decorate cookies also. Thanks for the chance to win this awesome prize!

We used to be pretty low-key about Valentine’s day. The restaurants are crowded, etc. that we would usually stay home. Now that we have a little one, this Valentine’s Day a playgroup is having a Valentine’s Day party for the little ones-a little brunch.
Keep it simple. Little things mean a lot. Make your husband or wife dinner, candles on the table. You don’t have to spend a lot or do a lot to show someone that you love them.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a significant other at this time, but I usually spend Valentine’s with the two little Loves of my Life – my 2 beautiful daughters!
We like to stay in and watch movies.
i just added you to my list of ppl i follow on twitter
I just subscribed to your motherload blog
I try to make Valentine’s special for everyone. For my husband I have always baked him a heart shape strawberry cake. For my 2 boys there is always some kind of treat, they of course enjoy the cake as well but we find other ways to let them know how much they are loved.
We usually celebrate by giving each oither cards, sometimes I get flowers and we go out to eat. I usually get my son candy.
I spend Valentine’s Day with my 3 wonderful kids. We usually go out to eat, then make strawberry cake at home together.
Awesome giveaway! We spend Valentine’s day having a nice dinner and writing a nice note to one another:)
i am trying this again as my comment went under someone elses name. How weird
Normally, my husband and I go out for a nice dinner for Valentine’s Day. He is in the Army, and is gone right now though, so this year, I will be spending it with my kids.

My husband and I started celebrating Valentine’s Day at home a few years ago. It was so difficult to get dinner reservations anywhere and it seemed silly to do something like go out to dinner and a movie when we could do that anytime that we felt that staying home was more fun. We cook a steak dinner, have a special dessert, and, now that we have our son, we spend some family time together. Then, after the kid is in bed, we spent some ‘quality time’ together. Staying at home is much more conducive to spending time with my loved ones than going out ever was!
We celebrate Valentine’s Day with a special dinner. We light candles and eat off the good china:) And, of course, we have a great chocolately dessert!
I make a fancy gourmet dinner for my parents, including wine and dessert. We dine and watch a movie, just enjoying each other’s company. We are a loving family!
So this is how you get people to comment on your blog. My wife and I usually celebrate a few days after Valentines Day so we can have a nice peaceful dinner without all the crowds.
Valentines Day is the Day we got engaged so we always use that as a time to getaway for a few days or just go to a local hotel for the night and have so adult time and it is very nice to get away and come back refreshed and in a happy good mood!
We are going out on a date, the day before v-day, hubby has to work on the actual day.

We go out for a nice dinner-NO kids allowed!!
I don’t have someone to celebrate with this year.
I just suscribed to the motherload! Yea!
I enjoy sharing a special time with my daughter on Valentine’s Day. We’re going to bake cookies, watch a couple movies and make home-made pizza.
I am a holiday junkie so any cheesey thing I can do with my kids we do it and holidays seem like the perfect time so the kids and I make a valentines day dinner for us all to eat and they make cards for our family members and then after they are asleep my husband and I usually will watch a movie and exchange our presents.
I subscribe in google reader
we usually switch off who is in charge each year, heart shaped food, a movie and lots of kisses are common features though
I follow ya.
We typically cook at home since all the restaurants are always packed on Valentine’s Day. Then we just spend some quality time together with the TV OFF.
Well this year I have to work then I am coming home to make supper for my children and boyfriend and a very good friend of ours because she will be alone for valentines day.
Usually we have a family type Valentines day…I know real romantic right. The kids and I will make cards for daddy and then we have a nice dinner together and daddy usually brings me a special gift.
OK, so I celebrate valentines day by giving my friends (and yes, even co-workers) valentines. . .yes, the ones you got in grade school. It cheers everyone up and is an unexpected surprise, especially if it has candy with it. . . not much, mind you. . .none of us needs too many calories.
My husband and I got a little tired of the commercialism of the holiday, so we try to keep whatever gifts we do get each other to the $5-$10 price range.
We are spending this year with a friend of ours. She was worried about honing in on our time together. . . we both just said, “we spend all our time together, and we like you, so what better reason to have you over.” She was surprised. Telling others we like them, too, is starting to become our personal tradition.
Well this year I won’t be celebrating with the hubby, but I do plan on doing some extra fun things with my girls, 9month old is a little young, but I’m getting her her first build-a-bear, and 2.5 year old probably going to make cards or something for her grandparents.
take my daughter out to dinner
and my better half is taking me to the mountains for a romantic getaway

When the kiddos were little…I made a heart shaped cake and nice dinner.
Now my hubby always brings me tulips to be later planted in our yard and we go out, but not on Valentine’s Day.
We got engaged on Valentines Day and have been married 12 years and we always go away for a few days or go to a local hotel for a night and have some adult time an dit is so nice to come home happy and refreshed and we like to get the kids some candy and goodies before we go it is a special time!
Can’t wait to read more…your blog looks great! Just subscribed to The Mother Load.
We have dinner in NYC.
I’m boring but dinner and a movie at home with my husband is the best way to celebrate! Thanks!
This will be our 2nd Valentine’s Day together married, so I wanted to do something special. We both love the beach , so I thought we could go to dinner down a long the coast and then go get ice cream at his favorite ice cream shop that over looks the water (I still have to get him a gift).
I usually fix a special dinner, and make a cake, or some other dessert. Then we do a game night.

Last year we decided to have a thrifty Valentine’s Day – we were working on paying off the last of our debt. We set the limit @ $20. I got a box and decorated with his fave comic strips from the paper – put in an airplane bottle of the gin he likes ($2), 2 books he wanted ($14), sexy underwear (for me, you know, for him) ($4), a coupon book I made for him (massage, foot rubs, etc.) and wrote him a poem. He wrote me a poem and got me 6 of my favorite flowers which are normally quite expensive. He actually haggled with the florist – his total was just over $20 and he said “no you don’t understand – the rule is $20!” The manager finally stepped in and said it was fine. It ended up being one of our best Valentines Days ever b/c it showed how well we know each other!!! This year, we have a little one so it will be a nice dinner made at home.

we get each other cards. my husband would bring me flowers at work ( back in the good’ol days when i still had a job) and i would pick up a special supper to bring home.
My husband and I dont really celebrate. But this year I will bake cookies with my toddler.
This is her 2nd Valentines Day and this is a tradition we are starting.
We celebrate by having a fun dinner with the kids and talking about the parties they had at school. We try to have a ‘Valentine’s’ dessert also!
I joined you no spend challenge, and am going to try to commit to 3 days a week of not spending money, this challenge couldn’t have come at a better time.
thanks for the inspiration.
We will prolly celebrate Vday the night before. My MIL always takes my son for the evening. Maybe dinner or just some quiet time alone…

We like to celebrate V-day at home, low key, after the baby goes to bed. Last year I made lobster ravioli
My hubby and I usually go out to eat somewhere nice.
We don’t have a tradition, but my husband usually gets me flowers and we try to get a small box of chocolates for each of our kids. And I love helping with the vday cards and goodie bags for the kids.
Thanks,

It is very hard to find a sitter for that night for us, so my husband and I usually enjoy a bottle of wine and a good movie after the kids go to bed.
I spend the night with my partner.

We don’t like crowds of people all trying to go out on that one night so we will probably just have a nice dinner at home with our new 4 mth old daughter. Then maybe attempt dinner out on a night that will be much less crowded.
i guess i’m outdated but i have never had an ipod

My husband of thirty years and I just spend a quiet evening at home.
Quiet dinner at home.
This year we have a baby so I think we are going to celebrate by getting a nice dinner to eat at home and rent a movie. Just something to take a break from the every day life and spend some time together.
we make homemade card and pink cupcakes and go in to our local nursing home to pass them out..you cant imagine the smiles and hugs my kids and i get…
During the day I celebrate it with the children. Then when hubby comes home we would go to a restaurant and spend some quality time together. With four kids and work sometimes its hard to do.
My husband and I usually celebrate by going to a nice restaurant. We keep it low key and enjoy each other’s company.
I usually just cook a dinner for us at home. We usually do it bigger on our anniversary.
My husband is usually at work so I spend it with my 3 kids (7 yr., 6 yr. and 21 months). We bake cupcakes and make Valentines earlier in the day. Then we all make dinner together; they usually choose Hot Dogs(Yuck!! but they like them, so we make them), Mac & Cheese and Broccoli. We cut the dogs to make Octopus’s with them. Then after we are done eating dinner we decorate the cupcakes for dessert. This usually makes a HUGE mess with all the icing and candies to go on top. After we will watch a Valentine movie, last year was a Winnie Pooh one. Not sure yet this year. Then a bedtime story and they are off to bed. Not to exciting be we like it and that’s all that counts!
on valentines we usually just go out to eat but this year i got a gc for restaurants.com and i plan on surprising him with hes fave crab
Always make my girls favorite dinner….this year spaghetti……I also get them a small gift like earrings…..then we head to my parents
i subscribed
I got to see one of these finally in person, they look amazing…hoping to win one or get one for my birthday (if husband got my hints)
Valentines Day really just another day in my house. With two children it’s really hard to do anything special for it. So it’s usually just a box of chocolates and a card.
For Valentines Day we actually keep it low key, what I mean is that my DH usually does something for me… A lot of that comes from both of our birthdays are also in February. My DH’s birthday is Feb 5 and mine is Feb 21 with of course Valentine’s Day being in the middle and then about 4 weeks later on March 17th, it is our Wedding Anniversary… so we do ’special’ things for each of those days but I am so richly blessed that although I do enjoy fine things it isn’t necessary but I do look forward to those special times with my DH and although we share our love everyday, it is nice to be able to do something unexpected and special on Valentine’s Day.
We make cards for family, and then enjoy a nice family dinner together.
This is so sad, since having kids we give each other cards and if we are lucky we watch a movie after the kids go down.
I would love to win the ipod thouch, We traveled out of state last week and all got sick, I was so out of it when we got off the plane that I left my pink ipod in the seat back and didn’t realize it until we were in the car at the satellite parking lot.

For Valentine’s Day we have our son make cards for his grandparents. My hubby and I are actually going out to dinner…TOGETHER! This will be the first time since October. Our son is a little too active to sit in a restaraunt and not bother everyone around him!
My grandmother left me 2 heart cake pans and I use them to make a 2-layered red velvet cake. The kids love it and even my husband thinks it’s kinda’ cool.
We celebrate it at church with our other “family”. The kids exchange valentines and do crafts and load up on sweets. The adults get a childless service for 2-3 hours. It’s sweet for everyone!!
I joined the no spend challenge!
My husband I usually have a night out without the kiddos. However, this year because of cutbacks, we may make a romantic dinner at home.

Hi Amy,
1. My family and I are planning an evening at home this Valentine’s Day. We are going to attempt a three-course meal of cheese, batter and chocolate fondue! We have never tried this on our own, so, at-the-least it should be a night to remember.
2. I have subscribed to your Motherload blog for approximately 2 1/2 years.
3. My household is accepting the No Spend Challenge for the entire month of February (hopefully longer). So far, so good!
Thank you for the opportunity…
WE celebrate Valentine’s Day quietly at home with the kids. Often, we’ll make heart shaped pizza and just enjoy ourselves!
I love making suger cookies, and my kids who are 3 1/2 and 2 love to decorate (eat) the cookies, so we do this on Valentines day, and make them for family and friends. Since it falls on Saturday, I’ll be making something hopefully that they’ll all like and make it special, as I only really get to ‘cook’ on the weekends. Thanks.
We typically go out for dinner, but this year my hubby will be on a ski trip–without me!
I subscribed.
My son ,husband and I are going to drive to Denver and have our first Valentines family day , since last year he was in Iraq.
My son was born on Valentines Day, so we celebrate his Birthday.
We just try to spend it together and play family games.
For valentines day my husband always cooks and we have a romantic candle light dinner. We dont usually buy eachother gifts because our anniversery is 2 weeks before so we just do dinner and desert and just spend much needed quality time together!
Our celebration varies each year. Sometimes dinner out, some times in. Sometimes a mimi vacation. Always a small gift and a mushy card. Sometimes he even cooks!!!!

I just had a baby in November so I don’t think we will be doing anything exciting this year.

We like to have a quiet candlelit dinner after the kids are asleep and talk about anything BUT the kids. Instead of candy or flowers, we give each other our undevoted attention and time.
First, I will make heart shaped pancakes for a special family breakfast (I do this every year). We plan on enjoying the day with the kids and making a yummy dinner! Nothing fancy! Sweet and Simple!

On V day, we usually makes cookies and Valentine’s cards with the kids. Then the day after Valentine’s, my husband and I buy each other clearance candy and go out to eat. It’s fun.
Our bugdet is very tight this year due to —what else —the economy, so we are just getting each other a nice card, having a very nice dinner in and watching a movie together in our “Jammies”. We have a few gret movies that we got for Christmas and haven’t had time to watch them yet so we are going to do that be thankful that this economy has not hurt our marriage as we are seeing it doing to some others.
Every Valentine’s is different for us. We’ve had romantic dinners at home, romantic dinners out, etc. This year our son and 1 dog (we’ll keep the other dog with us, he’s got too many allergies) will be staying with Grandma for the long weekend and we’ll spend time together at home, just the two of us (and maybe dinner out). I think we’ll watch the movie Fireproof together, too!
Cool! Thanks!
we actually have never celebrated valentines day with the kids and everything we just dont have time .Im hoping that this year would be different I really want to go out and celebrate.Last year was a disaster in valentines day we got kick out of our appartment
so it was not good

We actually just stay at home on Valentine’s Day. Neither of us likes crowds so we make dinner at home and enjoy it together after the kids are in bed. We also give each other cards and candy (I always give him conversation hearts, he always gives me chocolate).

We get each other cards. My husband cooks a
special dinner. But this year I will be by myself. He will be away.
For Val Day, we usually go out to a nice dinner (no kids!) and then write out our goals for the next year for our family. I love this tradition!
My hubby always gets me flowers and I make a nice dinner. We have a 6month old now so I’ll probably beg for an uninterrupted nap instead, ha-ha!! I love the pink food idea though, I may try that for my older boys…
We usually celebrate Valentines Day by doing something gushy, like a love scavenger hunt. One of us will make the other one breakfast, and always, a nice dinner. But for our marriage, we don’t need a special day to show our love for each other. That’s something we try to accomplish every day! Thanks!
I am not sure if we will get child care this year… but we will have dinner if nothing else.
We actually don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. Our philosophy is that we should do little things EVERY DAY to show each other our love.

This is the first Valentines day for my boyfriend and I. So far, he’s kept me in the dark about our plans, all I know is I have to be ready by 5pm. I love the anticipation. I hope that each year from now on we can surprise each other with secret plans. I’ve gotten him a couple of small sentimental gifts and hope to have a very romantic evening with him.
We celebrate by not celebrating. I dress my son and daughter in V-Day tees, take pictures and them archive them to scrapbook one day. They are 3 1/2. I think I have done there first V-Day. Not bad… only behind by 3 yrs. LOL
Valentines Day is a family affair for us as well. Sometimes I cook, sometimes do takeout, – buy the kids chocolates and little presents and usually a small present exchange between me and my husband.
We don’t do much for Valentine’s Day, just cards!

This is my son’s first valentine’s day. I ordered special photo cards to send out to friends and family that are signed just by him with his photo on them. For my husband and I we will be keeping it frugal with a nice homemade meal complete with special chocolate dipped strawberries.

we celebrate by just spending time at home together. he works out of town, so we just enjoy our time together.
Rather than going to a crowded restaurant, my favorite has always been a homemade (by hubby) candlelit dinner at home. We have a whirlpool tub this year too, so a relaxing bath w/ candles will probably follow. Quiet Valentine’s Day is better.
We usually try to get a babysitter & have a nice dinner somewhere we never eat at. Last year he suprised me by taking the kids to his moms for the night. He had bought silver silk sheets & had lots of rose petals. He always thinks of something different and romantic each year! This is a wonderful giveaway! Thanks for the opportunity!
I just subscribed to MotherLoot and AidiQueen
I celebrate with a nice quiet dinner (no kids!) with my husband as a time to reconnect and remember our love for one another.
My husband and I will be celebrating a delayed Valentine’s Day by attending New York Families for Autistic Children’s Annual Gala on Feb. 26th. It will not only allow us to get dressed up while having a night on the town. We will also be supporting a cause dear to our hearts since both our twin sons are on the Autism spectrum.
This is becoming addicting! I’ve just joined Twitter, how interesting does that seem?! It’s amazing the neat things you find trying to win a cool prize!
I celebrate valentine’s day buy putting flowers on my kids night stands and then make them heart pancakes and then when they get home from school they have a basket filled with treats and a few reasons why I love them.
I have subscribed!! I read your blog everyday.. Thanks
We usually celebrate by giving the kids small Hearts filled with candy and grandpa writes each child a little poem so they feel very special. They look forward to the poems more than the candy. Whem the funds are there they each get a stuffed animal too.
We make waffles with strawberries and whipped cream for Valentine’s Day morning.
We celebrate Valentine’s with a “date night”…meal out. We usually write each other a mushy letter
and sometimes give a small gift. This year I plan on doing some fun activities for the kids since it’s on a saturday. I’m thinking a valentines scavenger hunt.
We’re spending Valentine’s Day this year at our church. They are having a Snack & Social that is for adults and kids.
Now that we have kids, we try to focus on them on Valentine’s
Making them heart-shaped food and helping make cards, etc.
I have 3 daughters. We have a very simple dinner. We have everything red. We make spaghetti with red sauce, red food coloring in our milk, cupcakes with red frosting. And of course we decorate with red balloons, candles and confetti on the table. The girls love it.
We do heart shaped pancakes with red strawberries for the kids
My husband is always traveling that day, so he sends me flowers and I have pizza with the kids.
I would like to celebrate the day with a quiet dinner in, and maybe rent a movie. We usually go out, but I think I’d like to just stay in and be together this year.

My husband loves homemade cookies, so I will make him some of those and hopefully have a nice dinner together. We also like watching a cute chick flick for fun!
I have two little boys age 2 and 1 and the past two years we haven’t done much except cook a nice dinner. This year it would be fun to do some kind of Valentine’s theme with dinner. I can guarantee you we will all be wearing red and do something fun as a family
For Valentine’s day, my husband and I like going to a nice restaurant and a movie. We buy each other a small gift and just enjoy our time together.
I just subscibed so I can follow you blog even easier!

We haven’t done anything on V-day together since the twins arrived. They are just about 3 now so I think we deserve a night out. Probably something low-key.
Valentine’s Day is our special day. This year my husband and I will celebrate our 15th year and soul mates! We rarely celebrate our anniversary on Valentine’s Day because it is so busy at restaurants and the such, that we usually stay home and enjoy the family, watch a movie and eat candy. One day we will take the plunge and go somewhere, so until then, everyday is our anniversary. Thanks for your blogsite. I enjoy reading your insights and tips.
This Valentines Day I have no plans but I am hoping for a nice surprise!
cjnedrow@gmail.com
My husband cooks me dinner for V-Day (after the kids have gone to bed, of course), then we eat by candelight and try to talk about anything BUT the kids. We exchange cards and finish off our meal with hot chocolate — the highlight of our honeymoon in Venice.
I celebrate Valentines with my grandson. I get him a small box of chocolates and I eat the ones
he doesn’t like.
We usually celebrate by going out to dinner, then maybe a movie or renting a movie. When we can’t get a babysitter (or we couldn’t afford it) we would have a DiGiorno and a rented movie then maybe sparkling grape juice. Nice romantic evening at home.
We like to go out the week before or after V-Day, it’s too busy that weekend!!
Motherload subscribed on bloglines.
We are just spending time at home with no kids at home and a quiet evening
I hope that my husband will buy me flowers, but I’ll settle for a clean house and dinner on the table when I get home. Hmm, maybe I should buy him some flowers. I might make a special chocolatey or heart-shaped dessert for the whole family.
Even if we had a sitter, we probably wouldn’t waste it on a night that everyone else would also be out. Crowds are not my idea of a good time.
Well since I am a single mom and my “valentine” is my 7 year old son we spend Valentine’s Day doing something special for him. Most years it includes Chuck E. Cheese and then maybe a trip to Build-A-Bear but this year it will be Monster Jam (he loves monster trucks) and Chuck E. Cheese…if we can squeeze it in the schedule; if not he has a birthday party to attend there the next day lol.
We celebrate Valentine’s Day by going out for a special hot chocolate treat (my husband, my daughter and me). My daughter’s first Valentine’s Day we were in Brown County, Indiana and there was an ice storm – it was beautiful.

I’m a single mom who celebrates by putting notes in places throughout the house for my kids, writing them each notes, and texting them (even if they’re in another room!)
We always make sure the evening is just for the two of us – a blazing fire, candlelight dinner, soft music & MAGIC!

We don’t have any particular plans except hanging out with the kids (which I love to do anyway!)
We celebrate Valentine’s Day by choosing a gift together. A few years ago it was triple shower head for our master bath. This year it is a copy of the movie Fireproof.
We will be celebrating my birthday and Valentine’s Day together this weekend when my husband gets home from the mid-west.

I’m a single mother so I take my son out to dinner at a place he wants.
If I had a love in my life I would celebrate, but it would be nice to win a gift since I’m all alone….sniff, sniff. I guess I could have a nice meal and hug my kitties……yeah, that’s the ticket.
We just hang out with our 5 children. When you live away from family it is hard to get away and do anything that involves only you and your spouse. Thanks for the great giveaway.
Normally for Valentines Day, I buy the kids some goodies, Valentines candy and a new shirt or outfit and a little toy or book. We usually get take out and a special dessert. But this year, since we are trying to spend less money, we will be making special homemade valentines for all of our family members. And we will enjoy a home made meal, with a special cake for dessert.
We have a special meal. And Chocolates!
Dinner out.
We usually do a night out. Eat at a favorite restaurant with just my husband and me. He will send flowers to my work. My husband sends a flower to our 2 daughters and a balloon to our 2 boys.
This year we will be spending it at a basketball tournament! Isn’t that romantic? It will be fun and the kids will be included this way. A family valentine’s day!
I get my husband and kids all a little something. We celebrate by having a nice supper together.
My family used to deliver flowers on Valentine’s Day for our florist friend. It was a lot of fun!
My husband usually buys me a gift. I usually make a special dinner for him.
We usually make a nice dinner for the four of us – or get a heart-shaped pizza from Papa Murphys and enjoy family time. Thanks for the giveway.
I don’t think we’re going to do anything major this year just because we’ll have to buy our wedding rings for each other for our upcoming wedding! So we’ll probably just go out to eat at our favorite restaurant (which is really expensive so we hardly ever go) and thats it. He had mentioned buying a new Tony Stewart coat because I’m a huge fan but I’m not sure!
Happy Valentines Day to everyone!!
We usually do our celebration planning at the last minute. Spontaneity keeps it real and exciting for us!
My daughter and I love to sit around the table and cover it with old V-day cards to cut up and make new cards out of. Then we drive around handing them out to friends and family!
I usually bake heart shaped short-bread cookies with my boys and have fun decorating them with frosting and sprinkles.
With my husbands hectic schedule in the military, the last couple of years we have spent quality family time together with a great dinner and a lot of conversation!
We usually have a nice dinner at home and watch a fun movie. In the past, we have also gone out to eat the night before or the night after (to avoid the crowds), but this year we have a little one, so I don’t know if we will do that.

Valentine’s Day now is an exchange of small gifts between my daughters and myself. When I was a girl my mother would buy us all ( 3 girls) babydoll pajamas we could wear to bed all summer. They were frilly and lacey and made me feel prety and cool.
Even writing about those pj’s makes me smile.
My kids are still very young, so we don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day yet. I’m ready to start this year though, by going out to dinner with just the hubby and leaving the kids with grammy! =)
For the past ten years my husband and I have celebrated Valentines Day for free (buy nothing/spend nothing)…that is we make something (using free items in the home or scavaging around) and we cook dinner together. My favorite homemade gift was a fireplace and logged fire made out of cardboard and toilet paper/ paper towel rolls. I had been saying how much I wanted a fireplace…ha!!
For valentines day Robert always buys me a cd, it wakes me up in the morning (he’s @ work by then). The kids find their gift at the foot of their beds. I send him a card @ his office and we’ll meet for lunch (if it’s a work day). If not, we have our oldest babysit and have the night to ourselves.
Last year I was given a scavanger hunt. I loved it!!!
well for valentines day i will be working, so i could really use an ipod to relax after a long day at work
We give the kids a card and a little box of candy. This year will be special in that our daughter is going to make her confirmation in our catholic church.
It doesn’t matter what we do on Valentines Day but as long as I can spend it with my hubbers who isnt home for the holidays very often!
My kids have each have a little mailbox and each day leading up to Valentine’s day I surprise them with a little something, to count the days and show how much I love them. Then we have a special family dinner of heart shaped turkey burgers. My son has been waiting all year to do this again!
This Valentine’s Day is the first one together as husband & wife so we have plenty of new ideas to try & more ways to love each other more…
We make homemade Valentine cards and we have a party with a cherry flavored heart-shaped cake with cherry icing (because it’s also my birthday!).
I love to make my daughters Valentines Day, a special day. When I make her lunch for school, I use a heart cookie cutter on the slices of bread to make the sandwich. I also put in some valentine snacks, a card that sings and a small gift. Wouldn’t this lunch just make you feel ALL GOOD INSIDE!
Every Valentine’s Day I make a cherry nut cake in the shape of a heart. My mom did this for my dad and I now make it for my husband.
We usually just have dinner out. This year we have a baby, so I’m totally not sure what to do! Maybe we can sneak in some along time together. It’s better than nothing!
We celebrate at our favorite restaurant and usually go to a romantic movie afterwards.
this is the first year since my son was born that we are going OUT! we have not seen a movie in the theater since the week before he was born, so one of my cheerleaders (who declan is in love with) is babysitting, we are going to the movies and getting ice cream. i’m so excited!
For valentine’s day we usually go out to dinner but this year we are going to be taking my mom out to brunch for her birthday and then the following weekend leaving to visit my grandparents in florida so we’ll just be cuddling up at home.
We start the morning with heart shaped pancakes. Lunch is sandwiches cut into heart shapes, and dinner is usually heart shaped meatloaf. We do everything heart shaped that day, even heart shaped brownies. The kids love it, although the boys are starting to get a little embarassed.
We always pick out a fun recipe to make together and spend the evening together.
someone elses name is on my post!!?
Valentine’s Day for me with 4 kids ages 6 and under (whew) is usually a box o’ chocolates and whatever else I can find time for.
(Ahem/ Introducing:) The Latest, The Greatest. I am now following you on Twitter. (tweet, tweet)
Valentine’s day for me with 4 kids all under the age of 7 usually involves indulging in a box of chocolate.
With 4 kids we don’t have the money or the patience to go out to eat. Instead, we will pick up a pizza and all watch the Charlie Brown Valentines special together, whether it’s on tv or on dvd.
This year we are going to spend V-Day with our two babies- it’s little Quinn’s first Valentine’s Day! The goal is to start a family tradition that does not involve a lot of money- just celebrate the love of each other!
We always make and decorate sugar cookies!
I’ve subscribed to your blogs.
We usually go out to dinner and then a movie, this year we are buying a WII fit for the entire family.
With a 2 year old the most we do is get a nice take out
I work for an airline here in Houston so i am planning on flying to Chicago Ill and have dinner with friends for valentines day
Every year is different, however my favorite creative idea was 5 years ago. When my husband came home he found 100 cut out hearts everywhere- on the floor, hanging from the ceiling, taped to the wall. On each one of them I wrote a different reason I loved him. I had made him his favorite dinner, and gave him a coupon book giving him lots of fun ideas of things we could do together until the next Valentines day
Things are really on a tight budget this year, so no gifts for anyone. I am trying to figure out what I can do from things I already have around the house for the kids. THanks for the giveaway
hubby usually take me out for dinner, to some steakhouse. he knows i love steak.

to celebrate- this year we won’t do anything probably because we can’t afford it. But, normally we would go out to a nice dinner at our favorite restaurant- then spend a nice evening TOGETHER
I like to make heart cookies and we will be making valentines to be passed out at school. My hubby and I are going to a dance that is a benefit for a co-worker who has been in the hospital for a while. Should be a fun night out.
we don’t celebrate.
We’re both retired now and on a fixed income so we don’t do the big celebration thing like we used to so we enjoy a special home-cooked meal (his favorite of barbecued ribs) a glass of wine and a favorite movie of both of ours which happens to be “GHOST” with Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg!
Valentines Day is also our Anniversary, so we’ll probably go out for a nice dinner and then spend a quiet, romantic evening home together.
I have subscribed to momadvice!
We are planning to celebrate Valentine’s Day with dinner and dancing. Our church’s youth group will be planning and preparing the meal and the dance and also providing the child care as a fundraiser for their summer mission trip.
Just a quiet dinner at home.
This year I will celebrate V-Day for the first time. I just got married in mid december. This is my first marriage and his second. I am in my late 30’s. I have two older boys (late teens) and he has (we have) custody od his three very young girls. We are going to disneyland for V-Day and celebrating as a family.
This year I’ll celebrate Valenties by giving my sweetie flowers and kisses.
We cook dinner together and cuddle up on the couch!

This year my guy will be out of town for Valentines Day, so I’m going to treat myself to a massage, a homemade meal, candy and a sappy movie-fest. Plus I’m flirt with him on the phone
Thanks!!
I subscribe to your RSS feed via Yahoo reader also. Thanks so much, I would love love love an iPod Touch.
We plan to rent an action/adventure movie, and stay in cooking some pasta and making chocolates.
I celebrate with my daughters by having a large Valentine’s Day party. This year we’re actually having 52 adults and 16 kids. Loads of food, some crafts for the kids, and goodies to hand out. pink fortune cookies. Love Stinks breath mints. pink bubbles
We spend Valentine’s Day usually at home. I make a dinner which is mostly red foods and decorate the house with hearts. I make cut out cookies with my boys in heart shapes, which can be a bit stressful, but they look forward to it every year.
well, in the past 3 months. my husband and I were apart (business trip). and my first born baby is due soon , maybe this week or next week. If everything goes as plan, we might have to celebrate our valentine this year in the hospital. LOL. Last Year’s Valentine’s day is the day he proposed to me.
Valentine’s Day, for us, is a low-key celebration since everyone else is usually going out to dinner. We usually dip fruit in chocolate (a tradition that started before we were married!) and make dinner together. Our anniversary is the week after Valentine’s Day, so we usually celebrate that day. Also, my grandma used to make an awesome cream pie with cherries on top and give it to my mom for Valentine’s, but she passed away 9 1/2 years ago, and I’ve taken on the ‘mantle’ of making the pie for my mom. Brings the two of us closer and reminds me of grandma.
Valentine’s Day is also my hubby’s birthday so we celebrate with dinner, gifts, cake and just time together!
I joined the no-spend challenge!!!
We celebrate by going out to eat without the kids. Sometimes that means eating lunch, or a very early or late meal, depending on what childcare arrangements we can make.
we actually never have… but this year we have made reservations and are leaving our baby with my Dad for the very 1st time ever… fingers crossed.

Before having our two kids my husband and I used to celebrate Valentine’s Day with dinner and dancing. Now we usually spend it at home and I cook my husbands favorite meal which always includes chicken. My 8 year old daughter and I bake cut-out sugar cookies together and have fun icing them. (We already started them yesterday!) My 13 year old son used to do this with us but now he just waits to eat them! This year I am hoping to have a an overnight getaway with just my husband. Cross your fingers for me! LOL!!
Tulips and lunch for 2, my favorite way that Hubby treats me on Valentines Day <3

Don’t really have any set traditions for Valentines Day – this year since it falls on a Saturday I plan to make a Valentine Heart Shaped Cake – Red Velvet for the two men in my life……DH – DS. We also exchange cards and small gifts and may do dinner out – treat!
My husband usually buys me assorted chocolates and then cooks me something wonderful. We then cuddle on the couch and watch something on tv.
Usually we celebrate with the kids at home. I try to make heart cookies or some festive treat. Last year my mom came to visit so my husband and I got to go out to a movie and dinner.
We usually try to keep V-day low key to keep spending down. This year I’ve scheduled a few days before V-day to surprise my hubby to show him I love him all year long. Yesterday I surprised him by picking him up after work with a picnic dinner for us and our son in the park.

We’ll have a date night after a day of spending fun family time with our 7-month-old!
I make an easy dinner for the kids & make either cupcakes or a heart-shaped cake. Get them in bed early, then my husband and i enjoy take out from PF Changs & watch a movie – an actual chick flick!
We celebrate in a very simple manner. Cards to each other only. The mushier the better
. We make a nice homecooked meal and enjoy each others company for the evening (hmmm…how is that different than any other night? lol). The kids get a nice little box of goodies which can include candy, perfume, itunes card, etc….
I usually spend it with my valentine, my daughter doing something special just us two.
We celebrate by going to mass together to give due praise to the author and source of all love, our Awesome God!

I truely don’t celebrate valentines day, I always get something from my parents, every year since I could remeber. Other than that my boyfriend and I don’t exchange gifts.
I like to get 100 hearts and put them all around the house…each with a little something I love about my wife on them and then have dinner with her…:):)
we generally just exchange cards. some times i get flowers!
I found you from Freebies 4 Mom. We celebrate Valentine’s Day with a special dinner at home (too crazy crowded to go out that night), small gifts for the kids
My mother has hosted a Valentine Tea at her home every year for the past 8 years or so. This year, with it being on a Saturday, she has invited me, my sisters and our daughers. This year it will be extra special!
We’ve never really got the chance to celebrate much because we were at different schools in different states. Hopefully, we’ll do something extra special this year for our first vday as husband and wife! : )
Celebrating Valentine’s Day varies for us-this year we’ll be delivering flowers to make extra cash!
My husband and I usually go out to eat and spend some “us” time without the kids. It doesn’t happen very often so it’s nice when we get the chance.
Thanks for the great giveaway!
We are pretty low key for Valentine’s Day – I make my husband’s favorite dinner and we snuggle at home…
THANKS for the opportunity to win!
Melissa
My husband and I do something different every year. This year we’re going out of town to meet up with a couple friends who live far away. We’ll probably bar hop all weekend!
We will get some takeout at our favorite restaurant
Dinner at home with the kids
A sitter for the three kids lets us have a romatic Valentine’s dinner at a cozy -grown up -dining establishment that doesn’t have a drive-thru or a Value Meal.
We normally don’t “go all out” at Valentine’s Day, opting for a dinner at home, or a date at a mid-priced restaurant (or cheaper). But I am very excited about this year–I found tickets to the symphony for the Friday before Valentine’s Day for $15/each! That is an amazing deal for Orchestra level seats! We are probably going to treat ourselves to dinner out before the symphony as well, so this year we will be celebrating in style:-)

My husband and I exchange cards and cuddles. The budget is too tight for more, and having young kids makes it impossible to go out. But we are a family and we are blessed
We like to go out, just the two of us. We go dancing, or to a movie or just to dinner and talk. My husband usually gives me something fun like chocolates or jewelry. I usually give him a hand made card, just from me.
My hubby and I go out for a romantic dinner. Sometimes we make it to the movie afterwards … and sometimes not
Thanks for the terrific giveaway!
My wife and I spend a quiet evening at home reflecting on how much fun we have had over the years.
When I was married, we would go out for dinner
We are going to stay in with the kids.

I’ll make whatever my husband requests for dinner and dessert on Valentine’s Day to avoid the crowds at the restaurants and to save money. I have a feeling he is going to request Archer Farms’ creme brulee for dessert, which is so simple — just top the frozen dessert with the included sugar and broil for a few minutes! It’s yummy!
Valentines day this year will be very low key as we’re morning the death of a family member. We used to go out to dinner, but at almost 20 years, we save are pennies to put our kids through college. Thanks for a great giveaway!

Well this year we have a 3 month old daughter and his 2 other girls so romantic dinner and a movie won’t work. I think I’ll make a big breakfast/brunch with their favorites and then we’ll make cards/crafts for each other and take plenty of pictures. I plan on making a valentine’s themed photo book for the baby to look at when she gets older to see how much we love her.

Dinner Wine and Love!
This year is the first without Mom–have no husband or kids, so will just get together with friends for a movie and diiner out.
I am celebrating by having a pretend sleepover for my soon to be 6 year old. I am allowing parents to drop off their kids and enjoy a night out. There is not other gift to please my heart then to see my kids having a blast with friends.
I celebrate Valentine’s Day by eating CHOCOLATE!
We’ve always stayed in on Valentine’s Day with cards, candy, flowers and small gifts. Then, we go out on another night.
My husband and I usually go to a local hotel and spend some alone time together for the night.
We go to a nice restaurant (usually different every year).
Celebrate? How funny! My husband stops by the Dollar General on the way home from work on Valentine’s day and picks up whatever box of candy and card they have left. I’m not sure he even reads the cards, he just gets a pretty one. I thank him like he has brought me a diamond ring. What I am truly thankful for isn’t the candy. It is the fact that after 14 years he is still here, still consistant, still a good husband and father, and still has given me no reason to doubt him. Thankful that he comes home at the same time every night, hands over a paycheck every week, helps with the dishes every night, makes the kids breakfast every morning so I can sleep 15 min. extra, keeps my old van running, walks my dog when it is cold, turns my eletric blanket on while I am brushing my teeth so I can get into a warm bed. I could go on and on. When he isn’t looking I let the kids dig into whatever candy he has managed to scroung at the last minute. So celebrate? No, not really. He isn’t a romanic, celebrating kind of guy. But I wouldn’t trade him for one.
I participated in the notebook experiments – which I really enjoy by the way!

I always make a special dinner for my husband and our guys. Main course has always been a heart shaped meatloaf. I make menus and set the table specially, very red and lots of hearts or I have used all my travel/state plates and use Valentines like, “you send me, you are outta this world, I’d go anywhere with you”. I make side dishes like green bean bundles of love, a chocolate heart shaped cake etc.
Our boys are now growing up, but they still love it.

Dinner with candles and wine at home! So much cheaper than going out and frankly, I’m a much better cook than so many chefs!
We don’t usually do a whole lot. There is usually an opera on the weekend around Valentine’s Day (this year it will be on V-Day) so if I’m not in the opera then we usually go see it. I’m not in this particular opera this year, so we are going to go see it. We also don’t usually go out for dinner, but spend time making a nice dinner at home instead.
I subscribe to the mom advice and the product review.
Dinner at my favorite Sushi Bar
Valentine’s Day is usually just me and my daughter. When I can, we go to the Japanese Steakhouse…a big treat! She has learned what it’s like to only have what we need instead of how it was when she was spoiled. The great economy…I hope all of you have wonderful days with your families.
Everyday is like Valentine’s Day to us. So, it will be no different than any other day.
Normally our daughter spends the night somewhere and we have a romantic evening at home but this year we are taking our 2-year-old granddaughter so our other daughter can have HER own romantic evening. And WE are going to make COOKIES!!! I can’t wait!!!

My husband and I usually get a babysitter and go out for dinner together, but this year we’re boycotting that tradition. I don’t have patience to wait in line for 2 hours for a meal anymore! So, I will plan meals that express my love (heart-shaped pancakes and bacon for breakfast, etc), and I made personalized Valentine cards with pictures of my children to give to my hubby and others. I’m also planning to make a meal for our pastor’s family that day, because his wife just had their seventh baby!
My husband’s a romantic. I usually get flowers (I love red tulips!) and a dinner out, which I love, too.
We usually just go out for dinner…and maybe share a bubble bath when we got home.
We always go out to eat with our little girl, it’s a family outing. Thanks!
We usually celebrate with dinner out or a nicer dinner in and a movie. But this year we splurged and got each other tickets to the Titans playoff game last month-even though they lost it was so fun.

I’m single and don’t really celebrate Valentine’s day. I do end up buying Valentine’s candy for myself, does that count?
We dont really celebrate, maybe a card or two exchanged, but with the little ones its very hard to get out for a night to ourselves!!

Ok doing the no spending which is great for me becuase I did the no spending deal with myself last fall and bought no halloween candy so this is perfect- no candy sales either- thankyou- now ladies I will need support but I can do it

And finally, I did a Notebook Experiment this week!
We have a fun dinner the night before Valentine’s at home with our kids. After dinner we cut out lots and lots of hearts and write little messages on them. Then once it is really dark, we visit some friends who lie alone and leave hearts all over their door. Then on Valentines we drive back around and enjoy our handiwork. It has become a family tradition and the kids start planning months inadvance about who they want to give a “HEART ATTACK” to.

We usually go out to eat for Valentine’s Day. Sometimes just the two of us, sometimes with a group of friends and sometimes we even take our kids! We just want to “spread the love” to all who make us smile!!
We will be having a low-key day with our daughter on her first Valentine’s Day.
we don’t so anything real extravagant, but this year we decided to go grocery shopping for Valentines Dinner and buy a nice meal we wouldn’t usually spend the money on… cook it ourselves, and then cuddle on the couch/ watch a movie

We don’t eat out much, so on Valentine’s Day my children and I usually go out to eat at a fancy restaurant for lunch or dinner!
Hi,
I’m your latest and greatest friend on twitter! My ID on there is faith4eternity
My husband hates crowds, but we enjoy cooking together. So each Valentine’s Day, after we put the kids to bed we make a fancy dinner and then eat and talk with just a little candlelight.

My hubby and I usually do dinner and a movie – predictable but we both really enjoy it!
I just Subscribed! Looking forward to reading more!
I dye some food for my kids pink – pancakes, milk, mashed potatoes. They tend to like that more than when I dye something green for St Patricks day!
Since I’m single I will spend the night babysitting so others can have a great night!
We usually don’t do much as a couple for Valentine’s Day. We usually spend the evening with the kids. We typically grill steaks and I always make a cake for dessert.
wow you have some great stuff
I subscribed to the motherload!! I am excited!
We usually have a special dinner with our kids.
New subscriber! Can’t wait!
I definitely do NOT go out with the hubs on Valentine’s Day. We always try to go out for a special date on a day around the 14th…but NOT the 14th. I am planning this year on making a special dinner with fondue for my hubs and kids.
I just subscribed via my Google Reader.
Normally we stay home on Valentines Day (evening) because everything is so crowded but this year I am participating in my first 1/2 Marathon so I will be staying at a hotel with my girlfriends away from my hubby on that night:(
A nice dinner and a bottle of wine!
Honestly, I will probably spend VDay with the kids and Jeremy. Nothing fancy but bun!
I subscribe to you in Reader!

I dont really celebrate Vday sad I know but My husband works out of town so much that im happy just to exchange sappy cards!
For Valentine’s day, I usually make a fancy meal with seafood and a fancy dessert. Before we had kids we’d go out to eat, but we do a family thing now. We actually like celebrating with the kids too.
We have a nice evening at home with our dogs. We curl up on the couch and watch a movie that we both agree on and eat popcorn and candy. It doesn’t sound like much but it is tons of fun.

We usually spend Vday at home making dinner and snuggling on the couch while watching a movie. I find it much more fun than enduring the crowds on vday.
Hubby and I go out for a nice lunch! He always buys me a box of Godiva Chocolates and somthing special!!
We celebrate after valentine’s day. this year we are going out to dinner and spending the night at a hotel the Monday after while my mom watches the kids
We celebrate Valentine’s Day with our boys, a nice candle light dinner at home and exchange cards a small gifts. It’s all about the love!
We most likely will celebrate Valentines late again this year, due to my husband’s work schedule. He is an officer and rarely gets any holiday off so we celebrate them on his closest day off to the holiday. Who ever said that holidays had to be celebrated on time anyway, haha!
I just subscribed and want to win!!
My husband usually takes me out to dinner and buys me flowers!

i love to keep valentine’s day simple….just a bit of extra cuddling at the end of the day. i like to make a big deal over my husband on a random day of the year instead of a day that there are such high expectations…..expecting someone to show you a bit of romance just sort of kills it for me. so we like to surprise each other throughout the year instead of on that day.
My husband and I usually cook a meal together and share it with some wine by the fire (if it’s cold enough to have one!).
I make mushroom caps. I have been doing it for years and no matter what else I have for dinner, it make’s V-day extra special.
I have a wonderful mother in law who takes all four of our children for the evening and my hubby and I spend an evening at home alone. I prepare a fancy steak dinner and we enjoy the peace and quiet of our home together. This type of “at home” date is one of our favorite things to do.

this year i hope for a romantic dinner since we havent had much adult time since our son was born =D
I added motherload and mom advice to my bloglines!!
My husband and I work in the restaurant business so we will actually be working on Valentine’s day. We usually plan a nice dinner before or after the actual date.
For valentines day, me and my boyfriend always get each other a card and usually go out to eat to a nice place like the cheesecake factory or the melting pot. Afterwards we come home, cuddle on the couch and watch a movie while eating ice cream.
We spend Valentines Day at home with a special dinner. Then we have a yummy Valentines treat, usually a heart shape chocolate cake. Our kids love it!
Depends on the year. Usually we go out to dinner or something. This year my hubby will be out of town, so it will be me and the kids. Maybe I’ll do something fun for them instead.
I am excited about subscribing to your blog!! My husband and I have always celebrated V-Day by going to dinner together, but since we have our Little China Boy who is 4, we will all three be enjoying that meal together as a family! How exciting!
We started a tradition a couple of years ago when we were short on $ by buying the $1 card making kits at Target that comes w/2 cards you can make with stickers, etc. We each design a card for one another & then give it to each other on Valentine’s Day. It’s fun to design our own, to surprise each other with the finished product yet we’re saving $!
my husband and I aren’t extremely romantic, however we always try to do something sweet for each other. Three years ago my husband bought an orchid for me that continues to bloom which its doing right now and reminds me of how sweet he can be-

All pink day. In a house of all girls (besides dad) all the girls wear pink, eat pink food (tomato soup or meatloaf with pink potatoes) and whatever else the girls want to do!
My husband and I spare ourselves the craziness of going out and stay in with a dinner of crab legs and potatoes (which are usually on sale this time of year) We save the going out for our anniversary 6 days later on the 20th.

My husband always leaves flowers and chocolates for me in the morning and by the time he gets home that night the chocolates are always at least half gone!

My wife’s birthday is on Valentine’s Day, so it is an extra special event for us. I try to make it extra special for her with a romantic birthday celebration.
This is our first year married for the big day. We have 5 boys so I’m hoping for a few hours of time for just us.
My hubby and I feed the kids dinner, then after they are in bed order take out and watch a movie together.
We celebrate Valentines Day by having a nice quiet dinner.
My husband is the romantic (not me!). He typically sends me flowers at work, we have a simple dinner with the kids and then he plans a nice dessert for the two of us to enjoy after the three kiddos go to bed.
My website is private, but I entered it anyway. =) Valentines Day! Wow. For the past 4 years (that we’ve been married) someone has been ill each time. Unbelievable! We’re hoping that this year will be the first healthy one where we can really appreciate eachother. On my side, that involves a letter to him expressing my love and appreciation for him.
Chinese food is my favorite so we usually order it in and eat it in the dining room by candle light.
I usually spend my time at home watching tv, or a movie. Not big fan of Valentine’s Day.
I subscribed to your blog.
We have six small children and finding childcare is hard. So we usually wait unitl they’re all asleep and have a nice quiet candlelit dinner and exchange gifts. Nothing big but still special.

This year and last we have saved gift cards from Christmas and other occasions and splurged with them on Valentine’s Day without spending any out of pocket. This year we get to go to a fancy dinner and to the movie’s we even get free popcorn.
I plan to make a romantic dinner for my husband after putting the girls down to bed.
I now suscribe to The Motherload
We do a family Valentine’s Day dinner with the kids including pink or red cupcakes or cookies we’ve made for dessert. My husband and I try to also go out for dinner and a movie by ourselves (the week before or after); it’s not always easy to schedule this when you have 3 kids!
We usually just have a nice dinner out together. I always like to get a little something to show how much my husband means to me, so this year he’s getting a sound machine for when he sleeps. He has to have a little noise to lull him to sleep, and he’s been using an oscilating fan. I got the sleep machine to hopefully do the same thing without freezing me out every morning.
We celebrate valentines day by going out to the movies an giving our two kids some cute little valentine treats. This year I have does and diego valentines for them.I also am going to make a little chocolate dessert for my husband and I to enjoy after the kids are in bed.

My husband and I don’t really do anything special for Valentine’s Day but I usually bake some kind of sweet treat for the kids. Sometimes we make crafts, too.
My husband and I usually go on a rare treat- a DATE! This year, though, we will be spending it with my brother-in-law and his wife while they’re here visiting us from out of town. Happy Valentine’s Day! And thanks for the chance to win!!

Our family of 3 celebrates with cards, chocolate, and lots of hugs and kisses!
We are generally low key, go to dinner on one of the days around but no on the day itself. This year sees us spending the day with my sister, her bf and her daughter/our niece. Dinner at home and likely a movie on our tv. I like the sound of this!

For Valentine’s Day we usually go out to dinner or something pretty easy like that.
I like to go out to dinner with my husband and kids. We sent something to my husbands work from all of us. I have little gifts for the kids.
Hubby and I always stay home for Valentine’s day. Dinner and a rom-com movie at home.
we put the kids to bed a little early and i make a special dinner for two. we enjoy it much more than being hustled through dinner at a restaurant trying to fit in too many people.
this year we will be attending an event at our church for married couples.

I buy a couple of bags of chocolate hearts and hide them throughout the house. The kids go on a treasure hunt to find them.
my mother is in the hosptial and would really enjoy this now!
Cards and a nice dinner are what we usually do for Valentines. Maybe we will spice it up and go out this year since the 14th falls on the weekend.

Valentines day is my sons 3rd birthday. So we will be celebrating him!
My daughter Katy’s birthday is Valentine’s Day (she turns 18 this year), and we always make time for each other on that day, whether it be cooking dinner at home or getting together with a bunch of people to go out to eat, we do the day together! On the “love” day in 1991, God gave me my very own Valentine. And every Valentine’s Day since then has been amazing!
In the past few years the only Valentines celebration for us is may cards. Of course Hubby will sometimes surprise me with flowers or chocolates and a kiss.
I subscribe.
We’ll celebrate Valentine’s Day this year by a romantic dinner at home and board games!

We don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day at all.
we are just going to enjoy him being home. he normally works out of town, so is sometimes away on VDay.
We’re going to the beach with our fur baby!
i do the usually heart-shaped sandwiches for kids lunches…my hubby usually gets me & our 3 girls roses for v-day. and we try to have a quite dinner alone if possible!
Since Feb 13 is my fiance’s birthday, I usually take him out to dinner instead of the other way around. I make a much bigger deal of his birthday than Valentine’s Day.
Last year I was pregnant, and stressed. We were undergoing a kitchen remodle due to a water leak and with that going on I didn’t think I could get the nursrey done. My wonderful hubby took care of it. Painting and putting together the crib and dresser. My mom came over to help and I wasn’t allowed to see it until valentines day. We ate take out on the floor of the almost finished nursrey. It was the best Valentines day ever!

I buy the children something small like a book and some type of chocolate. My husband’s schedule is crazy because he is a police officer. However, if he does have the night off,and we have someone to watch the children we go out for a nice dinner together. We also get each other something special.
I usually stay at home with the family and cook something more involved and costly to celebrate togetherness. And CHOCOLATE!!!!
We spend Valentine’s day celebrating my husband’s birthday!
We usually don’t do anything for Valentine’s Day. Our wedding anv. is Feb 7th so we usually go out to dinner and a movie for that. We will have a nice dinner at home with our 2 1/2 yr. old and our 2 month old baby.
For Valentine’s day, we normally try and get the kids together with some friends for a little party and exchange V-day cards. Then at night, if we can find a babysitter, hubby and I like to go out either for dinner or to a movie and buy a ton of concessions. It’s fun. We do not exchange presents as it is a no present holiday for us (father’s day, mother’s day (unless I’ve just had a baby), Valentine’s day, anniversary all no presents for us). We spend the money doing something together instead.
We celebrate Valentines very low key -
this year it will be with the kids, homecooked
meal.
On Valentine’s Day my husband and I will put the kids to bed early after planning a romantic dance in our bedroom. But then either one or both of us will fall asleep as soon as the music starts, because we are so full of fatigue from caring for 5 kids, 2 pets and 2 jobs. But it will be nice to dream of “what might have been”…
We stay home – My husband, our daughter and I make a nice dinner together and watch a movie or play a game
Hmmm, with 10 week old infant twins, my husband and I are lucky to share 15 mins of adult conversation a day! This year’s Valentine’s Day will be low key.
