The best holiday gift I’ve ever received is probably the blanket/wrap that my husband got me. It’s a blanket with zippers that make it so that you can (comfortably) wrap it around yourself to keep warm. I use it every day!

The best holiday gift I ever received…Last Christmas my mom traveled to where I live to visit her grand daughter for the first time. We were able to spend a few days together shopping and having fun. It meant a lot to me.
The best holiday gift I ever got was a tennis ball on a string that is hung from the garage ceiling. When the ball hits the car windshield it is the perfect stopping point in the garage.
This gift was less than a $1.00, but what made it so amazing is that the person who gave it to me, actually took the time to know me and what I needed, not some generic gift, and I was having a problem of when to stop when entering the garage.

The best Christmas present I got when I was younger was a regular Nintendo. We got it the year it came out, and we loved that thing. We played Duck Hunt and Super Mario Brothers for days. What made it so great, was that we all played together and we all helped each other try to win. It stopped us from fighting. Haha.
As a grown up, the best present I got was when my husband bought something for our baby that we had just found out we were pregnant with. He’s not the super sentimental type, and this just blew me away. He was so excited about becoming a Dad!
I best gift i received was a pet cat. She is now two years and fat as can be. I would not trade her in for anything in the world.
The best holiday gift that I ever received, I received two nights ago. My husband had a miniature replica of his badge made and turned into a key chain for me. His position, county, state and number are on it. He said that with my support he made it through college, police academy, and can tolerate the crazy shifts. It was an honor.

When my husband was out of work several years ago some friends put together a gift box with toys for our kids and an envelope with some cash for my husband and I. It was the best gift because we knew that they had been thinking of us and our financial hardship.

The best holiday gift I ever received was my healthy preemie. She was born at 29.5 weeks gestation weighing 2lbs 2 oz. Although she remained in the NICU for 3 months, we had a lovely holiday visiting with her.
Wow- this is awesome! Hmmm- to be honest the best gift I ever received was the surprise party/baby shower that was thrown for me this year by my friends. I got lots of gifts there and can’t pinpoint to just one except that the entire day and the whole being surprised thing was just one of the most amazing experiences of my life! I felt so special!

The first digital camera I received as a gift, not even as good as many cell phone cameras now, really sparked my love of photography.
It’s very hard to narrow it down to just one gift! One of my favorite gifts when I was a kid was a papermaking kit. I spent hours shredding, blending and making pulp to make handmade paper. It was great fun and I wish I still had that kit because the others I’ve found don’t work as well!

The best Christmas gift I ever received was given to me by my parents one year when there was hardly any money in the budget. My parents purchased a small children’s trunk and filled it with fancy skirts made from my mom’s leftover fabric, rickrack, and ribbons. As well as old shoes, scarves, and costume jewelry for dressing up in. That gift was probably played with more than gifts that would have cost three times as much!

The best holiday gift is to have all the family together for the holidays. And watch the children enjoying everything we take for granted. Also the surprise visits of those you didn’t think would make it home for christmas!!
I am going to give 2 : as a child, hands down my easy bake oven. I remember baking cakes forever with it. I had so much fun and loved it. As an adult, I know it sounds weird, but I really wanted to start working out and I got Tony Little’s Gazelle. I was so excited that I could finally work out on my own equipment!
One year my dad spent months refinishing a hope chest for me… It was something I’d always wanted but never asked for…. It’s beautiful and in my bedroom…. I will pass it down to my daughter when she’s older….

The best holiday gift…hmm… you know when I think about it, it’s not the gifts I received that I remember- its the joy of spending time with my family around the tree on Christmas morning.
I’m loving reading everyone’s comments! I think my favorite gift was a horse! When I was about 12 there was almost nothing for me under the tree. I was sort of disappointed. Then my parents asked me to go out in the front yard (we lived on a farm) and see what was outside. There stood my horse with a big bow on her head! I was thrilled!:)

The best Christmas gift I ever got was a warm fleece blanket from my then-fiance (now hubby) to keep me warm while we were both far apart at different colleges. It is the simple things that mean a lot, that you know a lot of thought and love was put into!
The best gift I have ever received is necklace from my husband. When we bought our first house six years ago he bought me a necklace that had two people and a couple of kids within the house. Of course at this time we had no kids so he had the jeweler cut them out. Last year for Christmas he had taken my necklace (without me knowing) and had our two childrens birthstones placed in the necklace where the kids were.
The best would be the earrings my husband had made to match my engagement ring.
Best holiday gift…my husband made a hope chest for me before we got married. It is filled with handmade quilts and many memories.
My grandfather built me a huge dollhouse when I was about 6. He put wallpaper in all the rooms and tiny tile on the floor. It was amazing and I wish I had it for my children now.

When I was in college, my mother bought me a Mickey Mouse waffle maker. I loved it, but I really never had a reason to use it. She passed away the next year. Now, 11 years later, I have two little boys, and I use that waffle maker ALL the time. It’s like my mom gave a early present to the two grandsons she would never meet, and I get to think about her every morning I make waffles.

The best christmas gift I recived was a watch when I was 7. It was the only thing my mom could afford that year. Now that she’s gone(1st xmas without her) I think this years present is all 3 of my grandchildren to tell her stories to.
The best gift I ever received? When I was growing up, we were dirt poor, and my dad was a marine, so he was gone all the time. He wasen’t supposed to be home for Christmas one year, so we were upset… well he showed up with a wagon full of toys, and that is probably the best gift any kid would want! It was great, and years later, I found out that those toys were donations from people my dad had worked with… so now that I am grown, with kids of my own, we like to carry out that tradition… we give all that we can to people who may need something, It feels great!

Last year my husband surprised me with a Little Jules necklace that had both of my children’s birth info on it. I had been wanting it and had no idea he actually ordered it.
And, he gave it to me early so that I could wear it to all the gatherings.
The best Christmas gift I ever received was something I wanted so badly before I headed off to college in 1969. An electric typewriter. I was so overjoyed when I unwrapped it, I remember crying. I carried that typewriter and one suitcase back and forth for all my college days. Fond memories!

My son! He was born on Christmas Day four years ago this Christmas. I remember unwrapping my gifts with my husband before we went to the hosptial after my water broke at 4am. By 6:33pm…I had the best Christmas gift ever!
The year my husband and I got married, my mother-in-law gave me a vintage glass bowl for Christmas. I opened it and she told me that it had belonged to her mother. It made me feel like I was truly accepted as a part of the family.

The best Christmas gift I have received (so far!) is a book of recipes my mom put together with all our favorite recipes from our childhood. She had read the Maya Angelou that combined stories & recipes and put together something similar (on a much smaller scale!) for my brothers & sisters & me. Maybe it was so we wouldn’t have to call her a hundred times, asking about that one particular recipe, but I’ve used it probably more than any other cookbook I own!

My mom had passed away in Oct. of 2005 and that year for christmas I recieved my last christmas present from her, she had got me a dolphin candleholder the year before but never sent it, so after she passed away hey husband made sure to get it to me, it was the most special gift ever.

It came a few days ago. My husband logged into my Etsy account, looked at my favorite things, then created his own account and got me my favorite earrings. He has no patience so as soon as they got here he gave them to me. It was something that took him a good deal of time to figure out and they’re perfect! I love them!
The best gift I ever got was a homemade one from my oldest son. He bought a picture frame and printed out a short cute poem about me and printed it out and put a great photo of the 2 of us in it.
The best gift ever was my first Cabbage Patch kid, Roosevelt Budd. I carried him everywhere with me! And in a year of changes and confusion, it was so nice to have a bit of home with me always.

My dad passed away from cancer in Oct. 2000. In Dec. of that year my 1/2 brother and I went to get memory tattoos for him. It was a gift I gave myself and my dad that year.

I was having a really bad year and my Mom decided to have everyone in the family write letters to each other telling what we liked most about one another. There are seven kids in my family so we spent a lot of time and put a lot of thought into these. It really lifted my spirits and everyone else’s too.
The best holiday gift I ever received would have to be this beautiful red handmade scarf from last year. Also I remember when my uncle bought me a beautful ladybug snowglobe to add to my collection.
After years of trying to get pregnant my husband and I finally did … he came home from Iraq and I got pregnant right away. That was a great Christmas!!!! Now we have a beautiful little girl who is finally taking a nap so I can get in some computer time.
Maybe Santa will bring her a little brother this year.
My best Christmas present as a child was probably a Cabbage Patch doll. As an adult the presents are not as important to me, but anything that was thoughtfully chosen is a hit, like my husband buying me an electric blanket last Valentine’s Day because I was always cold at night.

Best gift- A homemade quilt that has our names on it, our wedding date, our two boys names, and their birthdates. oh, and room in case we decide to have more kids. That is my romantic husband for you.
The best gift from my family has been the freedom to spend my holidays as I please. That has translated into traveling abroad multiple times to spending time with my husband’s family. It’s great when we do get together, though it is not always for the holidays.
The best gift I’ve ever received was from a student of mine. They had no money and this student wanted to get me a gift. So as she walked to school she picked one flower from each yard she passed and then wrapped them in newspaper.

The best gift I ever received was from my husband for Christmas last year: Harry and David’s fruit of the month club. I *love* fresh fruit and got a new box every month! It was also great to have good quality fruit to puree into baby food for my baby. Delicious!
A red Radio Flyer wagon when I was 6. We lived in an upper flat, so I had to bump bump bump up and down the steps with it to get it outside, but I LOVED that wagon!

Hmmm…I remember when I was a kid I got an American Girl doll and I loved it! haha.
But in my adult life I think the best Christmas gift is one that I am getting this year. I just got married and my husband and I moved to North Carolina from Miami.
We thought we might have to stay in NC for the holidays but my parents bought us two plane tickets home for Christmas! I miss Miami and I’m happy that we will be able to spend Christmas with our friends and families!

My mom. Thanksgiving of 2004 my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She went through major surgery and recovery between Thanksgiving & Christmas, starting chemo in January afterwards.
So having my mom alive at Christmas was the best gift I could have received. Oh, and it snowed here on Christmas that year (first time in 50 yrs we had snow on Christmas…and I live in New Orleans so we never get snow usually!)
The best holiday gift I ever received was my husband. we met in church on christmas eve and have been together ever since…that going to church business must really work.
My sister made me a comforter one year. That wasn’t the best part of the gift though. She wrote me a letter with all of the things she appreciated about me. She read it to me and we were both in tears. The memories she included about her and I were priceless. I still have the letter and the comforter.
My best present was a great purse that I really loved–picked out by my 4yo son.

The best holiday gift I received was my grandmother’s ring. My grandfather hadn’t brought it back from France during the war and had given it to her. She wore it everyday and I used to marvel at it every time I saw it. I still wear that ring to this day and I intend to pass it along to a special person some day.

My best holiday gift was when I was little and my sister had just gotten out of the hospital. We were having a meager Christmas due to all of the hospital bills and such, and out neighborhood brought us a box full of toys. I was the lucky one who got roller blades. That will always be my most cherished Christmas!

My 5 month old son was in the hospital last Christmas Eve and we cancelled the dinners and presents until he was able to get out. I told little Connor that Santa would not forget him on his 1st Christmas and that he would visit him at the hospital. I woke up to a hospital room FILLED with toys that “Santa” had dropped off that night. I never knew who exactly brought them buy except for the nurses said that Santa sends his helpers to give the children presents when they are in the hospital on Christmas eve. I just cried.

The best holiday gift I ever received was the year my dad built bunk beds for the dolls my sister and I had and my mom made them a bunch of hand sewn clothes. Even more memorable is the fact that my dad almost lost his thumb and half his index finger while cutting the wood on a table saw. After many, many stitches, he was fine, but still has scars. This may be long and TMI, but here goes. My ex-husband was cruel and abusive. He was always telling me that I was stupid and that everyone at college would hate me if I went. Well, I decided to go, without his permission and I ended up with a black eye. I also ended up president of the honor society and the business & technology president! We got a divorce and I majored in astrophysics. It was an amazing experience…but when I got remarried to my ultimate hero, he gave me a telescope our first Christmas together. It had such meaning because he got me something that was so personal, something he knew I would like and that encouraged me to follow my dreams (something my ex would never have done). I just sat there and cried. It made me feel so loved, and so strong. My husband encourages me in everything that I want to do and explore…and that too is a wonderful gift that I cherish.

The best Christmas gift I received was my Husband. It started on Thanksgiving and up to Christmas, My Grandmother who raised me was critically ill and dying. I spent every day and night taking care of her. I prayed to God to send me an Angel to keep me strong through this very difficult time. I was not looking for love, but love found me.

He has had 14 surgeries and spent most of his life in the hospital so for 3 years we couldn’t celebrate holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, but one day he finally got strong enough to come home. My husband surprised me with an overnight getaway to a resort I’d been wanting to go to. He emailed me the room confirmation at work the day before we were to leave. I couldn’t believe it. He also took me to the Melting Pot that night for supper. I had never been there before and really wanted to go. It was a great. He had already made arrangement for childcare and getting my bosses approval for me to take the day off from work.

one christmas, my mom was going through a hard time and didn’t have much to give, so she put together a chronological photo album of my life and made one for my brother too. In 1999 my oldest son was born two weeks before Christmas, in 2005 my youngest son was born four days before Christmas and my twins were born on the 14th of December and one came home on Christmas Eve and the other on Christmas Day! never will forget these gifts!!!
In 1983 I received my first lenox Christmas ornament from my Mom who continued the tradition every year for the next two years before passing away unexpectedly. All of my family and friends have kept the tradition going and now my tree is 95% lenox ornaments. What a wonderful memory my Mom left for me to always treasure. That is one of my best Christmas gifts.

The best gift I ever got was in an envelope. Inside was a picture of an airplane followed by a picture of a convertable, then a resort, a flower leigh, and the words Hawaii. My husband was taking me for a one week trip to Hawaii for our 7 yr aniversary. First time away from the kids for more than a night since our honeymoon.
The best holiday gift I got was when my son said “mama.” He spent so much time in the hospital and the doctors had no expectations for him and I told them I believe he can do it. My son is still proving them wrong today. You just can’t wrap anything better than your child’s first word. Heather

The best gift I ever got was a beautiful ring that my hubby surprised me with. We had a 3 month old and had just bought a house, so I was not expecting anything. The amethyst in the ring I used to wear had fallen out at some point when I was pregnant, so I was pretty sad. So he went out and bought me a new ring and hung it in the Christmas tree!

The best gift I’ve received is a simple portable radio/cd player. It wasn’t the gift as much as it was the thought. The night before we played a game with the extended family where you can steal gifts and I was really wanting this radio/cd player. I didn’t end up winning it, but my Dad woke up extremely early Christmas morning and went to Walmart and got me one because he saw how bad I wanted it. So so thoughtful and I’ll never forget it.

The best Christmas gift I ever received was from my nephew. He was only 6 yrs old at the time and his mom, my sister had been going through a tough time in her life. The children had been displaced several times within a few months while my sister attempted to get back on her feet. I helped out where I could but I myself, a single mom, had my own responsibilities. My nephew wanted to give me a gift for Christmas and convinced his teacher to allow him to make two tiles that became trivets, one for his mom and one for me. I still have the tile trivet 10 years later; it reminds me of how precious and meaningful family can be.

This gift had to be my Christmas, birthday and Valentine’s day gift, but it was well worth the wait. He got us front row tickets to Cirque Du Soleil! He set up the entire evening, even having my paretns all lined up as sitters for our daughter. The acrobats were flying out over our heads and some of the cast came off the stage and stood practically in front of us! What an experience!

The best present I every got was the first year that my husband and I were married. We were out of money and had decided to not give each other presents. On Christmas Eve he refused to go to bed and stayed up for hours playing video games. I was tired and went on to bed. Early the next morning he woke me up and said that Santa had come by. I started laughing at him and ignored him by getting dressed and brushing my teeth. Sure enough when I went into the living room, Santa had come. There was a 5 foot tall atrium that I had recently told him I thought was beautiful. He had remembered what I said and he bought it secretly and then he had stayed up all night long putting it together for me. Hands down the best Christmas present ever!
I far prefer giving Christmas gifts than receiving, though my Strawberry Shortcake bike when I was younger was pretty cool! My favorite year of gift giving was in grade school. Our school sponsored a santa shop. They brought in tables and tables of gifts for us to purchase on our own for our parents. I bought my mom a lint brush in the shape of a mallard duck… it still lives in her laundry room, and I am still proud!

He gave me this little box that had a handle and holes punched in it, and realizing that he got it at a pet store, I thought “Great, he got me a ferret – I don’t know anything about ferrets.” But when I opened the box, there was this little 6 week old Miniature Pinscher that looked up at me. Nineteen years ago my baby daughter was in the hospital. She had been there for four months,
her whole life. She had severe lifethreatening disabilities, and now sick, in heart failure, no immune system, staph in her bloodstream, pneumonia, and RSV a killer of infants. She had been in critical condition all week, and shortly after midnight we arrived home to a house filled with groceries, christmas gifts for my five children and then the best of all… a phone call, she was upgraded to stable condition.

My fav Christmas gift was a homemade dollhouse. The wallpaper in the kitchen was the same as our house’s kitchen. The carpet the same etc. My family had done so much work on it and I was clueless until Christmas morning.

The best gifts are always ones that come by surprise and have a lot of heart in them. One year when my two daughters were young, we ended up with no money to purchase gifts for Christmas because we used the last of our money to pay bills. I was saddened because every parent wants to give their child something for christmas. I often cried to co-workers about my situation. On Christmas Eve one of my co-workers and her daughter showed up at my home with gifts for my girls. Their act of kindness is always remembered. It was a wonderful gift.

I think I was about 7 yrs. old we went to my grandmas house to give her christmas present and she gave me mine I thought that it was the best thing that I got that year I was so excited; I hugged her and kissed her and thanked her for my best present that year. I started using it right away. Please keep in mind that my grandma didn’t work and had limited funds to spend on the holidays. That present some of you will say that was a dumb one to me was the most priceless present I think I have ever gotten, it was one of those 99 cents black little chalk boards; but I knew that she knew that I liked to play teacher and what better to but a smile on my face. My kids all went together last year (keep in mind they were 12, 15, and 17 last year) and put together a 32 page scrapbook with all kinds of different photos of anything and everything. It had to have taken weeks to do it all! They put little notes about every picture, why they liked the photo, who was in the photo. It was all hand written, I will hold this gift close to my heart every day… they even left some blank pages in it so they can add a couple photos each Christmas season!

The best Christmas gift I ever received was a farm set I got when I was about 10 or 11. I was so excited and I remember asking for it. The barn and silo were aluminum and it had cows, pigs, sheep, fences, tractors and cornfields. I played with that set forever and still have it to this day.

Three years ago, this December, my dad was not feeling well. I live over a 1,000 miles away. So I do not see him much. I had a feeling I needed to go see him, so I did, we talked and laughed, even cried. He passed away 2 days later. It was the best gift ever, because my dad finally told me how proud he was of me. So we were able to share some really special moments together, before he passed away. The strange thing is, no one knew he was sick, no one expected him to pass away. He was only 63 and passed at home in his sleep. My gut told me, to go see him. I am glad I did. It was the best/worst holiday season. I lost my dad, but gained so much more from him with the visit. I knew he loved me and was proud of me. I did not know these things before.

Hmm, in reading all the comments, I just can’t think of a best gift. Christmas has often been a very intense time for me, filled with a lot of bitter sweet. It’s been much more joyful for me since my daughter is getting a little older (she’s 26 months). Tonight was the first night I have ever sat and just listened to Christmas music and not felt a lot of sadness and loneliness. My daughter fell asleep in my arms. It’s a sweet thing I hope I’ll remember for a long time to come.
The most memorable Christmas I’ve had as an adult was visiting from out west to upstate New York. We got snowed in and my cousins did “snowmen” in the form of Easter Island statues. It was very funny and fun.

I guess this isn’t just one present . . . but every year my mom gets an ornament that represents something that happened that year. The year I dislocated my knee, got stitches, and broke my collar bone I got a doctor ornament. When we were doing home improvements on the house I got an ornament that was a ladder and paint rollers. It’s fun to take out each ornament every year and remember why you got them all.

Well our little bundle of joy was born on Halloween, so we spent our first Christmas as a new family snug at our place with a little bundle of joy. I don’t think I appreciate the the best gift my husband and I has ever received until now, seeing our child grow up as a toddler before our very eyes, in the last year.
Every year for the past 14 years my husband has celebrated the Twelve Days of Christmas by surprising me with a small but thoughtful gift every day leading up to the 25th (a magazine, pack of my favorite gum, new measuring cups, etc). It is a very sweet tradition that is so endearing. A few years ago, on the “5th day of Christmas” he asked me if I recognized a theme in the gifts. There had been a box of gorgeous apples, a People magazine w/ Donald Trump on the cover, a 5th Avenue candy bar and a Billy Joel CD. While I was trying to piece it together, he handed me the 5th gift: 2 tickets to NYC! While we had been to NY many times, I had always dreamed of going at Christmastime. He had arranged for our daughters to stay with grandparents and whisked me away for 3 lovely days in NYC, where we ice skated, went to Radio City Music Hall to see the Christmas Spectacular, and more! It even SNOWED while we were standing in front of the big Rockefellar tree on night (Florida girl, here!)! An absolute dream come true and THE BEST gift ever!

Though I was as excited as any kid about Christmas every year, as early as I can remember, there was always a backdrop of sadness as well. I had been born on Christmas Eve, but to parents I had never met. So, on the one hand, while I celebrated with my loving adoptive family, on the other, I would think back to 1966 and the mother and father who, because of age, gave me away. But all that changed one year when, around the holidays, I actually found my birth father. He, his wife, and my three half-siblings have all welcomed me into the family. Now, I no longer have to wonder, and that freedom to enjoy the holidays is the best Christmas gift I ever received.

The best gift I have received isn’t a thing. It’s the fact that my grandmother has been around long enough to celebrate Christmas with my two kids (and hopefully more to come)! It’s amazing how similar the look in my grandmothers eyes is on Christmas while she watches her great-grandchildren is to the look in my kids eyes when they open their presents.
