Giveaway Results: Giving Away Holiday Goodies from Lands’ End

A big thank you to everyone who entered and congratulations to commenter #29 (Sunny) on winning the contest with this entry:

Sleeping bag set.

Q: How do you find time to blog so much, so regularly???

How do I find the time? Well, I actually only blog on the weekends and schedule everything for my week. I do all my blogging on Friday-Sunday and just work on maintenance and time-sensitive stuff (like the contests) throughout the week. Since people seem to be primarily curious about my blogging routine, I will have to work on some posts for that. Thank you for asking and congrats on winning!

We are excited to be offering our readers another giveaway that would be perfect for wrapping beneath your tree this year!

Lands’ End wants to share with one of our readers the chance to choose one of the following of items from their holiday line:

For Her: Women’s Regular Long Sleeve Cashmere Tee Sweater (Retail Value of $89.50)

For Him: Men’s Regular Down Vest (Retail Value of $29.50)

For KidsKid’s Sleeping Bag Set (Retail Value of $59.50)

To win you need to leave a comment here by Tuesday (11/25) at 8PM (EST) and tell me which item you would pick and ask me one question that you have always wanted to ask me. We will be highlighting reader questions on our site and I am compiling these for the new year. It can be personal (but not too personal) or it can be something about home management, a recipe/cooking question, or any questions on money-management.

Only entries that answer the two questions will be entered into our drawing. Our winner will be chosen at random and I look forward to your questions! Good luck, everyone and be sure to check Lands’ End for all of your holiday needs. As you can see in the examples above, they offer a wide-range of prices perfect for any budget!

  1. I would pick the women’s sweater. I am always cold and it looks, oh so warm.

My question is how do you balance blogging, doing rebates, and actually doing the shopping, etc?

  2. Yo. I want the sweater. It’s cold outside. I have no clothes. Pardon, I have 1/4 of a small closet of clothes but I only wear 1/2. Ha!

I want to know how you figure out your recipes. Did you have to learn the science behind it all or where did you learn it since your mom is not a cook.

Thank you for your gracious gift givery.

  3. I’d choose the sweater- Imagine! having something made of cashmere!

What did you do pre-stay-at-home-mom that gave you the writing, networking, and marketing skills necessary to keep up such a successful blog?

  4. I would pick the kid’s sleeping bag set. What a great gift for sleepovers in the future!

What are some great free activities and/or things to do at home during the winter with your kids? Thanks!

  7. I would love the sleeping bag! Would like a peek into your actual to-do lists and systems….how do you keep up with everything? how do you give chores to your husband (what does the honey-do list look like?) digital pix plus an explanation.

    Posted by Carol M | November 18, 2008, 11:37 am
  8. I would definitely pick the cashmere sweater because I have never owned anything cashmere…what a treat.

I already know a lot about you. This is kind of a lame question, but how do you, personally, like to store freezer meals? I know you at least used to make them. I’m wanting to make some, but I’m torn about how to freeze them without getting freezer burn AND without breaking the bank buying containers.

Okay, so I haven’t been DYING to know this about you, but it’s all I can come up with today :-)

  9. I am completely selfish and want the sweater for my self!

How do you schedule your day to find time to keep up with your website, household duties, childcare, etc?

  10. I would love to have the sweater! I’ve never owned cashmere!;)

I’d like to know how you keep your house clean without despairing that it’s messed up when you turn around!

  11. I’d love the sleeping bag….one of those things the kids could use that I never think to get for them!
Not too much I can think to ask you here, but I guess one thing I would like to know is what is the best day/time to hit the Goodwill store? Other than those 50% off days. I can never seem to find good stuff and you always do!

  12. I would love the sweater. I would give it to my mom.

How do you organize your home? Especially things like your craft items and your kitchen. These always seems to be the places in my home that get so unorganized so quickly!

My question, um… What is your favorite color? :)

  17. I want the sweater! It’s our first official winter in PA and it’s already cold!

I would like to know what you do to motivate yourself (besides coffee)! Where do you find that extra umph to get you through an important project or chore?

    Posted by Sandra | November 18, 2008, 2:26 pm
  18. I would love to see my little boy snuggled up in that sleeping bag, but my husband really needs that vest. He refuses to wear a winter coat! He’s wearing a hoodie right now.

Hmmm. I don’t know you that well to know what you haven’t answered, but I’m always curious to know what people would do if they won the lottery. Let’s say 100 million after taxes. What would you do?

    Posted by Greta | November 18, 2008, 2:26 pm
  19. I would take the sweater, of course, as I am very selfish! ha!

I don’t know you very well, but here is what I want to ask you: Do you have your day carved out in blocks of time for certain activities, do you use a planner – what works for you to help with time management? I am always struggling with how to get my internetz projectz done and you know, keep my kids alive and my house from burning down.

  23. I would love to have the sweater……..I have NEVER owned anything cashmere.

Let’s see…..what do I want to know? Let’s go with fitness. You are one that doesn’t need to loose weight but I know you workout.

So, tell us about your routine, what you busy your kiddos doing during that time and if you ever eat junk food.

  25. Oh the cashmere for sure! I have a cashmere scarf and I would love to have a whole sweater! :)

I think someone has already asked this question, but I also would like to know how you schedule your days. Some days I don’t even check email, much less find time to blog.

  26. The sweater is MY favorite, but in the spirit of Christmas, I think I’d go with the vest to help keep my hubby warm while he’s feeding cattle.

My question is about how you find all the fun links you share with us. I love all the crafty things and there are SO MANY out there, but I could whittle away hours on a site like Whipup or Craftster and still only scratch the surface.

    Posted by Shannon | November 18, 2008, 3:38 pm
  31. I would probably choose the sweater, unless it is a really heavy and warm sweater (we live in CA), in which case I would choose the sleeping bag set!

I would love it if you could tell us how you stock pile and how you manage your stock pile – I really need some new ideas in this area!

I am replenishing my stock pile from being pregnant, and then delivering my sweet little one via c-section.

How do you store all your spices/seasonings? I have one 8×8x4″ basket and a shelf organizer but I believe there must be a better way. I do cook a lot and therefore have many spices.

    Posted by Angela | November 18, 2008, 4:00 pm
  34. I am torn between the cashmere sweater and the sleeping bag set – but I think I’ll choose the sleeping bag set for my toddler.

My question for you – how do you organize your mail, paperwork, etc. so it doesn’t get out-of-hand? Do you have a pretty (and cheap) storage solution to share? I am always overwhelmed by paper in the house. Thanks!

  35. I would love to win the cashmere sweater! What an incredible offer!!

My question may have been posed to you by many others! How do you manage your time in such a way that enables you to get so much done?? You seem to have an unlimited amount of energy to spend on home, work, and your children! I am so impressed with your talents and wish I could do half of what you do. So, how do you seem to do it all? Thanks for all of the great offers!

Do you forsee that your blog might evolve over the years to match your personal season of life (for example, switching to retirement, or caring for elderly parents, or whatever happens to be going on)? This is because I imagine it is easier to manage a blog that relates to your personal life. On the other hand, perhaps you might start additional blogs, or hire additional staff to work on the “mom blog” while you work on a new one?

  199. I would choose the child’s sleeping bag set. It would be perfect for when they spend the night at their friends’ houses.

My question is, do you know of a good website that offers craft ideas for children about the age of 4? I teach Sunday PSR and it’s difficult for the children to manipulate more advanced-type crafts, but the kids do get tired of coloring all the time. Just looking for something creative, but age appropriate.

  200. There is nothing that says Christmas like a “warm gift”. Some people may not think clothes count for a gift, but whenever I have received a warm sweater for Christmas, the first thing I do, is put it on! I’ll spend the whole day in it, showing it off, so, my choice definitely would be the womens sweater!

  219. I would pick the cashmere sweater, because the ones from Lands’ End are simply the BEST. My grandmother bought me one for my birthday a few months before she passed away because she wanted me to have something special, but now that I have lost 35 pounds it’s too big. I’d love to have a new one.

    Here’s my question…since I love your Aldi Queen section…
What is one item that you wish you could buy at Aldi, but are frustrated that you can’t?

(I have several of these myself…LOL)

  228. Would love to see DH in the down vest!

My question: What are your thoughts on frugalness vs. living a “carefree” life every now and then? I have a hard time balancing my need/want to model for my children frugality with also wanting to be spontaneous and show them that life should be fun and carefree sometimes too!

  238. I would choose the Ladies Sweater. It looks lovely.

My question would be do you ever get time to sleep? With such an active blog and taking care of your household and children when do you get time to rest?

    Posted by Rebekah | November 25, 2008, 11:08 am
  239. I would pick the sweater as well. Cashmere. Beautiful. My question is a little personal. I am wondering how you cope/deal with feeling like an inadequate mom. Perhaps you don’t, then that will be easy. I feel like moms, especially SAHM moms are expected to be stellar cooks, crafters, educators, decorators, and save the household money. How do we feel okay about not being great at all these things? Any insight would be appreciated!

  240. I would pick the cashmere!!

My question(s) is do you make money to keep your blog going? And how in the world do you have time to invest in thorough blogging and manage your home?

    Posted by Alicia | November 25, 2008, 3:49 pm
  243. I love the sleeping bag!

My question for you is: Please tell me what secret font of energy and time you’ve tapped into, and how do you get there??!! :-)

Thanks for all that you do!

  244. Would love the sweater. I was wondering if you had more ideas for frugal storage. I’ve read & re-read your post and love and already use many of the ideas.

BTW – my mother gave me an inexpensive over-the-hanger storage item for storing jewelry. Its plastic with clear plastic compartments. Since my jewelry box works fine for me, I have it hanging off of a hanger off the door to my utility room. I’ve got all sorts of odds and ends that would normally get lost in the junk drawer. I think she spent $1 on it at the dollar store.

  245. Its a tie between the shirt and the sleeping bag… I’ll go with the sleeping bag. Would be great for all those trips to see my sister!

I’ve “watched” you get busier and busier as your blog gets more popular each day. What does your day look like? You seem to get so much done, and travel and learn to knit and cook from scratch and pay down debt and, and, and. How do you do it? Thanks!
