Giveaways

Giveaway: PearBudget Lifetime Membership

This is one of those times where I get extremely excited about giving something away to our readers! I have the opportunity to do a giveaway with a great new website called PearBudget.

This site is made for moms. PearBudget is an online financial tool that you can use to maintain and track your expenses. Why is it made for moms? Well, the design is extremely clean and the program is very straightforward.

When I first started tracking our own family budget, I used a simple lined notebook and wrote down the categories (mortgage, car insurance, car payment, gas, groceries) and then I would write down what we should spend and what we did spend. Those little notebooks held everything I could ever want in a budget and I refused to upgrade to a digital format. I did finally relent to Quicken, but I just haven’t found anything that has the simplicity that I desire in a budget program.

This site is designed just like my notebook. You pick your categories and expected expenses. Then you put your receipts into the form and it will tell you how you are doing on your budget. That is it. Simple and easy.

An online subscription to this subscription based service is only $3 per month, but you can try it for free for thirty days and see if it would work for your family.

Now what would you say to a LIFETIME membership to PearBudget? Well, I am offering one lucky reader a lifetime subscription to this service with no strings attached.

If you are interested in enjoying PearBudget for as long as you live, please tell me how you currently keep track of your budget. Feel free to share your budget pitfalls or glory days (like a sweet little notebook with chicken scratches).

To enter this contest, please leave me a comment by July 2nd (Wednesday) at 8PM eastern time. I will choose our winner at random.

A big thank you to Simple Mom for sharing our name with PearBudget so we could share this with our readers!

Good luck, everyone!

  3. I don’t keep good track and I NEED to! This looks wonderful!

  4. With two little ones underfoot, I keep track of the kids and my husband keeps track of our budget online… we often get our wires crossed and are looking for something simple that we can both use easily!

  5. I am currently using a notebook, like you used to. I keep track of all the usual things, but, also specifically how much money I spend on my daughter’s clothes for the year and my son’t clothes for the year. This way, I have an estimated amount of money I need to budget in for the following year. Now that my kids are older, 13 and 12 I give them the money (for example, $100) and take them shopping. I let them know that this money needs to buy them the needed clothes, in addition to socks and underwear. This system has worked really well for us. Gift cards work well with this also. And when the money is gone, it’s gone.
    Have a great day today.

  6. I use a print out that looks like a calendar with each bill due, other expected expenses and expected income and just do a very, very basic budget. I loved Pear when I tried it in Beta and am considering returning since I’ll actually have some money to budget this fall!

  7. Let’s see my current system for keeping track of our budget…um…does doing nothing count? We just discussed yesterday that we need to get back on track and find a system that works for us. PearBudget looks great, I would love to win this one!

  8. I track our family budget using a combination of my google calendar and a green (for money) notebook with different sections. Twice a week I balance the checkbook using that notebook which has just three hand-written columns and my bank’s online service. I was looking into YNAB.com but this sounds even better for moms.

  9. i keep track by the cash in my wallet. i pay nothing by credit card except gas. if i run out of cash, then i have used by budget for the week. pretty old method, eh?

  10. Since we first got married two years ago, we have stuck to a budget. It has helped us learn to live on one income, easily deal with job losses, save for goals, and pay off debt- I’m a HUGE believer in budgets! Currently, our budget is kept in Excel, and we use the envelope system for spending money for groceries, eating out, etc. So far, it works for us!

  11. I have alittle bit of a system… i have a 3ring binder that i have monthly calendars in there and i have the date that that bills are due written in there.. once they are paid i put pd by them so i can make sure i keep track of what ones i paid.. then i take the bills and file them in another folder to keep track of them… as far as a budget though… haven’t been able to really understand setting one up and this program looks awesome…. :):)

  12. Nope, I can’t tell you - because I don’t have a budget. We fly by the seat of our pants. It bites LOL I have no motivation? I don’t know - I just know I need help - we have 1 income. 5 of us. Blahhh

  13. Budget? Hahahaha. Nothing written down, all in my head. And that’s a scary place! I used to use quicken faithfully, and still use it for the checkbook aspect. I really need to get back to budgeting…

  14. Oh the true confessions are pouring out! My check register is as close as I get to a budget. We are frugal, but this would help me be even better with our money. I’ve tried some methods but never been satisfied with them (notebook, etc). This sounds great! Thanks for the chance and for educating us about this.

  15. Right now, I am using an excel spreadsheet. Is it working out? It is alright, though not exactly set up to how I need it. I’ve been trying to customize it to fit our household but to no avail, ah. I can’t enter reciepts into it, ect. so it really is sitting here just as a reminder how much is going out for bills, groceries, ect. I use an outlook express calendar to remind me of when bills are due.

  16. I’m using the trial right now and boy do we need a subscription! My husband has created this complicated Excel spreadsheet system that I can’t even understand, and I have a sinking feeling that some things are getting double counted. The simplicity of Pear Budget is exactly what he (and I!!!) needs!

  17. We are just now trying to keep better track of our budget. Found PearBudget last week and really like it. With 4 little ones we are looking for something simple to use.

  18. I make a spread sheet with columns of various expenses and plug in what I have budgeted for each column. When the bill comes due..just subtract from that bill’s column.

  19. I feel like I’ve tried so many things . . . currently my budget is on an excel spreadsheet. Nothing fancy, but it works (as long as I keep up with entering items I’ve spent!)

    Posted by Joy | June 26, 2008, 6:32 am
  20. This is perfect timing because I’ve decided to budget myself even if hubby won’t budget with me. I can at least budget the areas I’m in charge of like groceries. :) But, I need something simple to understand and do and this sounds perfect. :)

I may have to try it out and then review it on my blog for my readers. :)

  21. Oh how I would love to see a budget find its way to our family! We are so lost and my only system is recording payments on post it notes. We don’t have a clue what we should be spending or even what we have to spend for that matter. After 2 years of marriage, you’d think we’d have it down by now. Thank you PearBudget and thanks Amy for the giveaway!

  22. Well, I just keep trying is all I can say. I’ve had notebooks, used Money, and Quicken but don’t seem to follow through like I should. Right now, we are currently using a notebook but it’s not updated like it should be. And we’re at a point where we HAVE to buckle down on our spending. We’re on one income here and this will be our first year homeschooling our 3 kids so ease is also something I need. If it’s not easy or fast I know I won’t follow through. HELP!! :-)

  23. We are trying to use a spreadsheet - the problem is that we can’t both access it easily - Pear Budget looks like an awesome solution!

    Posted by Blessed | June 26, 2008, 7:15 am
  24. I’ve become an Excel addict. Color coded, formula riddled Excel sheets are my lifeline. I can’t remember a thing if I didn’t have my system of bills, checks of when things were paid and separate checks of when things cleared and all the money going out as well as in…problem is, I’m not that good at Excel and it really does not leave me any room for “actualities” that could take up 10 mores sheets…still trying though.

    Posted by Kate | June 26, 2008, 7:20 am
  25. We’re tracking every penny using a regular old Excel Spreadsheet. The receipts are categorized and tallied up at the end of each day.

    Posted by Emily | June 26, 2008, 7:22 am
  26. Our system involves a lot of wishful thinking, and not a lot of actual budgeting. We occasionally write some numbers down and the promptly forget about them. But we are trying to get better, and I have been looking Budget tracking system! This looks like a great one.

    Posted by Megan | June 26, 2008, 7:30 am
  27. I have no system - but I know I need one with a home purchase coming up and a recent change of income. Things need to be adjusted! And this would probably work better than guesstimating!

    Posted by Monica | June 26, 2008, 7:30 am
  28. I use a envelopes for cash and spreadsheets for different categories of irregular savings/spending. However, I’m self-employed with irregular income, and I’m not great at managing that. Still lots to learn!

    Posted by Wendy | June 26, 2008, 7:38 am
  29. our system is WAY to complicated. we use Quicken to show us what we did with our money and we try to use Excel to help us forecast. our budget is tight and somehow we never seem to get the alloted amount into savings like we’d like to. i just read about Pear the other day… i’m excited to learn more about it!

  30. We do have a budget and use ibank’s budgetting tool. I don’t really like it very much because it doesn’t allow for accurate tracking on some of our non monthly expenses, like our garbage pickup up and quarterly life insurance payments. Pear budget looks pretty plan and simple. Thanks for the great give away.

    Posted by Kim | June 26, 2008, 7:53 am
  31. This system looks really awesome. I have tried using Quicken, but because we run our company from home and have to track those expenses as well, it was way too much work. Currently I am using multiple spreadsheets that I have to bring together on my own. I am more or less just tracking my expenses than making a budget that I will stick to. I think that Pearbudget would be really good for me.

    Posted by nicole | June 26, 2008, 8:00 am
  32. I would love to win this! I have to admit that we are working on revamping our finances right now and that we haven’t been budgeting. We have used Quicken in the past. I suppose our method of handling our finances right now is daily discussion and checking our bank account online. We have a lot of work ahead of us but we are really excited about making changes.

  35. Well, I’ve been using the budgeting software at Dave Ramsey’s site but I need to come up with an alternative as my membership will soon run out. :)
I used to use simple pen and paper, but I love the online budgeting options because I can make changes and see expenses, debts, etc, all in one place.
    Thanks for the contest!

  36. Right now I don’t really keep my budget up to date. I just watch my bank account and make sure we don’t spend too much. I am newly married and we just haven’t found our ‘thing’ but we really need to! This would definitely help keep our budget on track!

Posted by Sarah Jones | June 26, 2008, 8:42 am
  37. Well, the “budget” is kind of a misnomer. I have an Open Office spreadsheet where I try to anticipate recurring expenses each month and log purchases and other transactions (I delete them once they post to online banking). But this is really just a glorified checkbook register and not a true BUDGET. I would love to win this to give it a try — it looks like a great tool!

  38. I am trying to get back on track. Right now everything is in my head or in the bill rack. We are down to one income right now and really need to set a budget and stick with it.

  39. I am actually taking an online course for Quiken, and still not in love with it. Its not bad, but too complicated for what I want to do right now.

BTW I love your blog. I’ve been lurking for quite some time.

  41. I have a list of expenses on an excel spreadsheet that I may update quarterly. I need something that I would use weekly to keep track. Especially since we have two house payments right now.

  42. This really sounds like something I could use. I need something to keep track of my budget. I hope I win!!

  43. Oh, exciting! I’ve heard great things about Pear Budget plans. Right now we use Dave Ramsey’s budget forms from Financial Peace University. Following his principles, we have paid off $28K in 2.5 years and built a solid emergency fund.

    Posted by Pamela | June 26, 2008, 10:39 am
  44. I use the old notebook…I hold onto EVERY receipt and then add them in weekly and subtract them from our income total. Kind of archaic but it works :)

    Posted by Christine | June 26, 2008, 10:49 am
  45. Cureently we are using a new spreadsheet on our computer. We are not very good at always entering our recipets and looking to get on track with it. We have two small children and know that we need help budgeting.

    Posted by Jennifer | June 26, 2008, 11:08 am
  46. I just started to use the notebook method (have a small blue one that I carry in my purse). Otherwise I would call the bank everyday to balance my checkbook. I haven’t really found a system that works and I don’t feel like my rusty math skills could handle excel. I am also newly married with a little one (my husbad is a SAHD) so keeping track of everything and trying to pay off debt is very important these days. I am excited to learn more about this program. Thank you!

    Posted by Nichole | June 26, 2008, 11:27 am
  47. I’ve tried many different methods: writing everything in the check register (the space is too small - I like to write a little bigger), I tried Quicken (I didn’t like the hassle), I’ve tried updating my check register every night (it doesn’t work when hubby spends money and doesn’t give me the receipt). I’ve been contemplating moving over to a notebook - it’s bigger so I can write whatever size I want. I don’t necessarily have the patience for Quicken or Money anymore. I want easy. We definitely need help budgeting… my husband is a teacher and I am trying to start my own business. Technically still a one-income household. I’m hoping that will change soon. Thanks for the giveaway!

  48. Honestly right now we use Microsoft Money. But I hate that program and I am lax about using it. Pear Budget sounds great!

    Posted by Felicia | June 26, 2008, 12:05 pm
  49. So far, we haven’t really had a budget. I just paid the bills, spent more and carried over the leftover money to next month. Now that gas prices are going so high, we realized that we NEED a budget!

    Posted by Suzanne | June 26, 2008, 12:07 pm
  50. My fiancĂ© and I both use online banking, but neither of us has a solid budget…and now that we are going to combine our income, a budget will be a necessity!

    Posted by Jen | June 26, 2008, 12:24 pm
  51. My budget is in my head and my receipts are everywhere! I really really need this program!

    Posted by Darlene | June 26, 2008, 12:56 pm
  52. My husband and I are currently in limbo on the budget system. He is the money earner, and I am the money spender (I pay the bills). We used to use Quicken to enter all of our spending and then we had a computer glitch and lost all of our data. We haven’t started back in on it. We do online banking through our bank. I hate dealing with money and my husband has an MBA and is a spreadsheet freak. Since I pay all the bills I would like to find something really simple that I can use.

  53. In the past I have just scribbled a budget on a loose leaf paper here and there. But of course that really never worked and we are in serious need of a good budget that is accurate and that we can stick to. I just recently purchased Quicken and I am really liking it but I do find it a little confusing and complicated for me. But at least it is tracking where our money is going and giving us a better picture of that.

    Posted by Heather | June 26, 2008, 1:39 pm
  54. My husband preferred to handle the finances and it was just easier (aka less fighting) if I just took a hands-off approach. We are now getting a divorce and I, after 12 years of being out of the habit, must relearn how to handle the finances. When I did live alone and barely made more than the expenses, I paid savings first (so I’d have Christmas and misc. gift money during the year). Now, I am going to use the same “pay myself first” for saving up for surprise expenses for my 2 children and myself.

    Posted by Suzanne | June 26, 2008, 4:17 pm
  55. Currently, I print out a “budget sheet” each month that just lists the bills I have to pay. I keep them all in a 3-ring binder. However, I’d like to start tracking ALL money spent and get a better handle on things. This would be great to win!

    Posted by Heather | June 26, 2008, 7:31 pm
  56. Other than balancing my checkbook almost daily and trying to keep our family out of the red, I really don’t budget. I would love to use an online source to better budget for our family.

    Posted by Jenny | June 26, 2008, 10:08 pm
  57. I use an excel spreadsheet that I developped/hacked myself but there are some things it doesn’t track very well, like irregular expenses. I would also love the online access to Pear Budget- one of the reasons we went over on our recent vacation budget was that we couldn’t access the spreadsheets!

  58. What a great giveaway, Amy! I was glad to see you were doing this giveaway after I saw I didn’t win at simple mom ;) I keep track of our expenses in fits and starts, having not come across something I like well enough to stick to it. I would definitely like to start being more detailed so we can work more purposefully toward our savings goals.

    Posted by Stephanie | June 27, 2008, 5:27 am
  59. I love Pear Budget! I have been using it for about 3 months now and it has really helped me to stick with my budget because I can see how much I have left to spend in each category. I have always kept a very close eye on our bank account by checking my balance on line and balanceing my check book. But, this has allowed me to see where our money is going and to make better choices, especially since our goal this year is to pay off both of our vehicles!

    Posted by Kelly | June 27, 2008, 5:50 am
  60. We use Quicken. Actually, it’s more accurate to say that we have Quicken installed on our computer and I started adding information to it in January. I don’t think we’ve used it since March. It was just too much. I went to Pear Budget and tried it out- you’re right. It is clean and easy.

    Posted by Shan | June 27, 2008, 6:31 am
  61. Thanks for the giveaway, first off. What a great offer! Our budget was pretty much non-existent. We had just enough to pay bills, and a little for savings. I guess you could say we used a ‘notebook’ system (just not as thorough as others!) We do take all our bills and place them in a calendar mail divider according to their due date and the paycheck just before that date. We also deduct half of our house payment from our first paycheck of the month so we’re not slammed with a gigantic payment with the next paycheck. It really works for us, and has even helped pay down our principal balance faster!

  62. How do I budget? hahaha. I don’t. I am pulling it all together because I’m tired of the “putting out the fires” version of money management. Help!

  63. I LOVE this site! I have tried EVERYTHING! to keep to a budget. In the early days it was a piece of poster board with hand drawn columns. I really like how easy it is to use Pear budget. They do all the work for you. No more erasing or starting over. AWESOME!

  64. Oh, this is wonderful! When I was single, I had everything mapped out and I was very organized. However, I am now married with a toddler and find that I don’t have a lot of time to keep everything neat & organized. Plus I have to work with my husband’s disorganization :-). I also don’t have everything consolidated which makes looking at the “big picture” really difficult. So, I would use this membership to put my mind at ease by regaining my previous state of harmonious organization!

  65. I keep track of my budget in a note-book, but to be honest with you, I haven’t been to good about it. I just started reading blogs and websites about budgeting and being more frugal and this is my new goal. With the cost of everything going up I really need to stay on top of this. Thanks so much for you wonderful website.

  66. I also do my budget on a notebook like you did so this would be great to be able to do it digital and have it be that simple. I’ve tried several digital programs, but they are all so different and more complicated than what I want.

  67. Ummm. . .we use the little check registers that come with the check books. It’s pathetic - we fill ‘em in about 2 weeks and then we have to write on the top, bottom, sides, etc. . . =)

  69. I am currently doing pear budgets 0 day free trial and loving it! before that i had a little notebook i took everywhere that had how much money we had for the month written at the top and every time i bought something i would subtract it from the grand total. you don’t get much more basic then that! 73. I have a very simple routine every week - envelopes. I fill out an evnvelop for each thing I’ll need - one for groceries, one for CVS (of course!), gas money, mad money, kids lunch money, etc. It was a great system initially, but I need to start tracking things. Sounds like this would be a perfect fit for my family! Thanks for the wonderful contest!

  81. Hi, Wow would I love to win this. Our family of 5 runs on the old pen & paper. First I use a small childs shoe box for my filing system. I took the ecru colored folders that you can find anywhere & cut them in half to made mini folders. I cut some of these in half again & extended the tabs for date dividers . I put my bills into these folders 5 days early than the date due, so that they get there on time. I use a large spiral notebook to keep a ledger of your expenses. Our family puts all our pay checks into one account. I write down everything that we spend weekly, and the deduct the total from the total of or pay checks. With 4 people in our family working, 3 are part timea students with jobs , it can be tricky to dole out pay checks from the “pool” of your checks. At the end of the month we pay each worker a small check based on how many hours worked & we make that last for the month. Each child is responsible for his/her own budget. They must stick to that amount of pay. Unless emergencies uprise then we make out but, have nothing left for savings. We are a poor lot, but a Happy Family. So this Pearl budget system would be wery much appreciated. For a family of 5 it would be a blessing to keep up with things without spending 2-3 hrs a week on our budget. Thanks for the contest. Good luck everyone.

  82. I just tried the 30 day free trial and PearBudget is JUST what I need! I’ve been struggling to get a budget established ever since I got married almost 4 years ago. Nothing has ever stuck. I recently started trying to use Quicken (again!) and it’s just too busy for me. The simplicity of this program will help me budget with my little family of four, without requiring me to spend so much time away from my sweet daughters.

  83. We used to use Microsoft Money, but since our first child arrive (he is now 2 and our daughter is 4 months) I’ve let it slip. Thanks for the reminder that we need to get back on track!

  85. I want to budget!! but just haven’t found something that i want to use. I have been one of those spend and figure it out later, but now with a little one, i want to save more for him, and watch my dollar go further.

  86. We use a google spreadsheet so we can both access it - me at home and my husband at work. Now if only he would figure out how to use it!

  87. I currently have our budget typed out in Microsoft Word. I plug in the numbers every month to keep track of what we have spent and what we have left. It is kind of monotonous and I think pear budget would be way quicker and simpler!

  88. Hi,
I could totally use something like this. I have been a stay at home mom for four years. My husband and I are both very bad about bugeting our money. It would be nice to finally have a system that we could use. Maybe then we could actually start saving some money and plan for a great future!

    Posted by Rebecca | June 27, 2008, 2:59 pm
  89. Well, up until yesterday I had NO SYSTEM for keeping track of my budget. And currently, I still have no budget! I started a blog recently, payingdebtsucks.blogspot.com where I plan to stay accountable and share my experience with others who are trying to pay down debt. So, getting an easy method for tracking my budget would be spectacular!

    Posted by Sue | June 27, 2008, 3:14 pm
  90. I have tried living on a budget, but always seem to fall away from the effort. I have used keeping a paper record in a notebook, using Excel with linked category pages where I entered my receipts. Now we are trying to use Microsoft Money, but I am about 4 months behind on updating. I think I should try a cash envelope system to keep me more accountable. With rising costs we NEED to get on a budget that works. I’m still waiting for the glory days of budgeting. We just can’t wing it anymore!

    Posted by Amy | June 27, 2008, 3:47 pm
  91. LOL, embarrassing but on scrap paper on my desk each month. Terrible isn’t it. I really need this, we are trying to get out of debt.

    Posted by Ginny | June 27, 2008, 4:18 pm
  92. We need a better system. My husband is currently keeping track of things and I have to ask him all the time if it is ok to buy something. This sounds much better. Thanks

    Posted by Jenn | June 27, 2008, 5:41 pm
  93. I used to keep track on Microsoft money but it upset me that the balance on their never matched up to the balance on our bank statements. I’m too scatterbrained to remember to use a checkbook register. Now? I check our account 3-5 times daily to see where our spending is at each day. Tiresome.

  94. I use MS Money to project my expenses and income. BUT I’d love to actually be able to make and keep a budget!

  96. I let my husband handle 100% of the buget. I have started to think I might want to take over this task. I never know how much money is in our bank acount (w/o looking it up online which I rarely do). I love that this product is web based so I don’t have to hack into my hubby’s computer to check our bottom line! Very good idea. Going to check out the 30day free trial, for sure.

Posted by Chrystal Sturm | June 27, 2008, 10:41 pm
  97. For many years I have used an excel spreadsheet. There is a page for each budget catagory and then with every paycheck I “deposit” money into each account and when the bill is paid I “withdraw” the money as well. I would love to try something new and online!

    Posted by Kristie | June 28, 2008, 5:01 am
  98. We have tired all different kinds of budgeting tools and have not found one that works right for us. I would love to have pearbudget to work with. Thanks Amy for a Chance!!

  99. Here is my philosophy: budgets make me feel like I don’t have enough $; diets make me feel like I can’t have enough food; schedules make me feel like I don’t have enough time. I want to budget because I think it is a good tool, but have never found a good way to stick to it. The only thing that has ever slightly worked for me is Quicken because I can download everything from the internet.

    Posted by Delores | June 28, 2008, 5:11 am
  100. To be honest, we’re not really keeping very good track of our money. We just spend less than we make. That’s why I’m excited about your giveaway! We could do a much better job than we are now. Thanks!

  101. I am sorry for a double comment - mine submitted before I was done. I would loev to win this! My current budgeting is done in a notebook. Papers left and right with different numbers. i can’t tell you howmany times per month/week I have to revise the budget and mve things around. it can get very confusing. i used to be really good and use a dry erase board calendar to keep track of things - then i had kids!

    Posted by Kristine J. | June 28, 2008, 7:22 am
  102. Okay, it’s confession time: I have fallen off the keep-the-checkbook-balanced bandwagon and have been off the wagon for about 6 months. My poor husband works to make the money, and has no interest in managing it. After 10 years of trying to keep up I’m just burned out. So I sort of gave up. I did try wesabe but it doesn’t work well for us for some reason. Going to look at pear right now! Thanks for the giveaway!

    Smiles,

  103. Budget, I didn’t know what one was until I had a baby and no job! Relying on my husband and your wonderful blog to help me save money and spend more wisely. This tool will probably keep me from hitting rock bottom. I have already started to keep my receipts but haven’t figured it out exactly what our budget should be. We have realized that we have to stop using cc and start saving. Thanks for all your great advice

  109. Microsoft Money is the way we keep track. It’s convenient and easy to use. It’s the way to go.

    Posted by Denise | June 29, 2008, 9:21 am
  110. I keep a text file on my computer with the date, store, payment method, item description, category, and amount for every purchase made. At the end of the month, I enter the total for each category in a ledger book as debits, and I enter all sources of income as credits. I also make a graph (freehand) of each month’s total debits and credits (red and blue). There’s also a green line on the graph that represents the amount I could safely withdraw from savings each month if I were to retire right now. I compare that line to the red debits line and guess how long I have to keep working.

I used to try to do this stuff with Quicken, but that software was too complicated. I’ve heard good things about PearBudget over at the Motley Fool.

  115. Hello. Please don’t cringe when I tell you this. I have never been on a budget and have never even balanced my check book! I check my balance everyday and play it by ear. I know this sounds really bad, especially from a person who won’t but a thing unless I have a coupon. Here’s why I need this…. Recently my company has been bought out. I don’t foresee my corporate position lasting longer then the end of the year. I needed to get on track now!! I’ve opened up a “losing job” savings account and now my next step is a budget!! I’ve got less them 6 months to stock pile money and learn to live more frugal. Saving money has always been a game and hobby for me, now it’s necessity! Thanks!!

  116. We are trying to get a budget going. We’ve tried in the past and never seem to stick to it. I’ve handed it over to my husband at this point and told him to just let me know my budget for gas and groceries per week. I’d love to have software to help. We use quicken for keeping track of money though.

  123. No system. I have tried several different things, but I have never been able to find something that I could both learn quickly and keep up with. This is not a very good way to keep my finances organized,I have gone between somehow managing to have $900 extra in my account with no idea how it got there to bouncing checks because I didn’t keep track well.

  124. Right now my husband and I have one son who is 14 months and one on the way. We have always been great budgeters individually but with two people it is difficult. We don’t seem to keep track of our receipts very well anymore. We do budgeting very differently. This program would be amazing to help us keep our budget on track before our next bundle of joy comes in February!!!

  125. Cash works best for me. I take out a set amount every 2 weeks and that covers my groceries and household expenses, eating out (which is very rare) and clothes. When the cash is gone, that’s it. I’m very visual, so actually seeing the money really helps me be less free about spending it!
