For the Kids Three!
I am a parent that loves really good kids music, but I am more drawn to children’s music that I can sing along with rather than a rousing rendition of “If You’re Happy And You Know It.”No, I want to be a cool mom and listen to cool music…even if it is kid’s music that we end up listening to in the car rather than my own amazing music collection.
VH1 Save the Music Foundation has released their third installment of kid music and it is amazing. It offers a very cool blend of classic, contemporary, and original children’s songs with artists like Barenaked Ladies, Of Montreal, Moby, Mates of Slate, and Dar Williams. Over half of the songs are original to the soundtrack, which makes for new and interesting music to add to your uber cool parent collection.
All of the music is excellent and I have found myself singing along to almost every song on the disc. I actually am playing the disc even when the kids aren’t in the room. My favorite song though is, “The Poopsmith Song” by Over the Rhine. It is a hilarious tutorial for children on potty training. Where does poop go? Poop goes in the potty, poop goes in the potty, poop goes in the potty… that is one for a good giggle with the kids.
Best of all, the Save the Music Foundation benefits from your purchase. To date, the foundation has provided more than $34 million in new musical instruments and have had a positive effect on more than 800,000 children. Now that is a foundation that I can get behind as a parent!
Thanks to Nettwerk Music Group for our copy of this great music!
