Girl Gourmet Cupcake Maker

girl-gourmet-cupcake-makerFor this review, I passed the torch on to a family of  some of my very favorite little girls, The Wegner Family! My daughter was a little too young for this product, but I always know I can count on my friend Michelle to help me in my time of need. To learn more about their family, please visit Michelle Wegner! A big thank you to Whitney for helping us and sharing her perspective on this product.

My 8 year old daughter Whitney received the Girl Gourmet Cupcake Maker for Christmas.  Whitney loves this gift.  I will let her tell you with her own words why she loves it so much.

What do you like about your cupcake maker?

Well it is fun to use.  Sometimes the easiest part is baking them.  It only takes 30 seconds in the microwave.

What don’t you like about it?

  • The frosting spinner throws the cupcake off its tray and it makes a big mess.
  • It’s hard to get all the frosting in the tube
  • Cleaning up after I am done

Who likes to eat your cupcakes the most?

My neighbor David or my sister Maddie.

What is your favorite cupcake to make?

Chocolate Chocolate.

What else would you want to tell people about your cupcake maker?

Just that it is really fun, and yummy at the end.

As far as I am concerned, I don’t mind the mess that the cupcake maker makes.  Whitney is so proud when she can make something so delicious completely on her own from beginning to end.  It is also fun to watch the smiles on her sister’s faces when she hands them a custom made-cupcake.  The biggest downfall with the cupcake maker is the cost of the cupcake refills.  Whitney wanted to make a few special cupcakes for her sister’s birthday, so we headed to Wal-Mart to pick up refill packs.  I was absolutely shocked to find out that one packet of six refills cost about $12.  We needed two boxes, so in one night we spent almost $27 on 12 cupcakes.  I am afraid that cupcake making is going to have to be a very special occasion type thing at our house, unless I can find a very quick and easy microwavable cupcake and frosting recipe.

Amy’s Notes: I am not sure if this will fit the bill or not, but wanted to post some Easy Bake Oven recipes that I found that might work for the Girl Gourmet Cupcake Maker. If anyone tries these and has any success, please leave a comment so we can help on the continuing cost of this product!
