Giveaway Results: Madame Alexander Gracie Doll from Avon

Sorry! This giveaway is now closed! We would like to congratulate Commenter #74 (Kim) on winning this prize pack. Thanks so much for your entries and happy holidays!

When I was a little girl, my very first doll was a Madame Alexander doll from my grandmother. I named her Mimi and loved her unlike any other doll I had ever owned. She was the most special doll to me as a child and I know she was an extravagant luxury for our family.

Because Madame Alexander dolls hold such a special place in my heart, I am thrilled to be offering one lucky reader a Madame Alexander Gracie doll for the holidays!

If you can believe it, Avon has launched a beautiful holiday collection that you must check out. Not only can you get beautiful holiday dolls, but your daughter can get the exact same matching outfit and be just as decked out as her Madame Alexander doll at a very affordable price. This is Avon’s first-ever kid’s-line and you can learn more about the new holiday-inspired clothing, accessories, and gifts by finding your own Avon representative by visiting

To enter this giveaway, tell me why you should have this Madame Alexander Doll wrapped under your Christmas tree this year!  Entries will be taken through Tuesday (11/24) at 8PM EST. Our winner will be drawn at random. Good luck, everyone!

Giveaway Results: $500 Walmart Gift Card

Thanks to everyone who entered- I think that is a record high for number of entries over here. We would like to congratulate Lyndsi (commenter # 1,089) on being the winner of this giveaway (chosen at random). Lyndsi completed all three tasks to win and got herself a big fat $500 gift card to Walmart. Thank you again to Walmart & Nickelodeon on this fantastic giveaway. Check back each week for more great giveaways!

Times are tight for everyone this holiday season. Wouldn’t it be great to have a little more cash?

Wouldn’t it be great to figure out how to make the cash you do have stretch farther?

Thanks to Nickelodeon and Walmart you can do both!

Yes, Nickelodeon and Walmart have teamed up to sponsoring a contest that will not only collect together some of the BEST holiday money saving tips on the web, they are also giving one lucky MomAdvice reader a $500 Walmart gift card!

Talk about a present that will always be the right color and size!

There are multiple ways to enter this contest, but for each entry you must submit a separate-that means different folks-holiday specific money saving tip.

Be sure you leave an email address with each tip. If I can’t contact you, I’ll have to choose another winner!

You can enter 3 separate times by doing each of, or any combination of, the following:

#1-By commenting on this post and leaving a holiday money saving tip.

#2-By writing a blog post mentioning a) this contest, b) Nickelodeon, c) Walmart & d) MomAdvice. Then in that post you have to give a different holiday money saving tip (don’t just repeat your original tip) and link back to this post. Then you have to come back here and leave another comment with the link back to your blog post.

#3-Subscribe to my blogs,(pick one or subscribe to all three) then leave a comment letting me know you have with, yes, another holiday money saving tip. If you are already subscribed you don’t have to do it again, just tell me that and leave your tip.

I WILL THROW OUT any entries that are not about the holidays, or that do not follow the directions above (ie didn’t link back to this post in their post, don’t mention Nickelodeon etc)

The winner will be chosen at random (using the random number generator) out of all the valid entries. I say again-the VALID entries. Make sure you read and follow those directions above folks!!!

The contest runs from today-Tuesday December 2nd through Monday December 15th at 12 noon, EST.

You can enter to win a $500 Walmart gift card not only here but at all of the ElevenMoms’ sites. You can only win once, but you can try to win at each site. Each contest may have slightly different rules, so make sure you read carefully! Many of the tips will be featured on the Elevenmoms site-maybe even yours!

Giveaway Results: $50 Walmart Gift Card

Wow, I can’t believe we had this many entries, but I just want to thank each of you for taking the time to leave a comment and let me know what you would like to see covered here. I pulled one of the hot topics out of the hat and covered a holiday gift guide for men (all gifts under $20) that was requested by you. I will continue working through this extensive list and I hope you will continue visiting our site!

I want to congratulate commenter #812, Pam B., on winning this gift card. She was chosen at random and had this idea for our site:

“What a blessing a $50 Walmart card would be for holiday shopping! I would love to read more information about organizing my coupons. I have been couponing and refunding for over 30 years, but no matter what I have tried, the paper overwhelms me! There are so many coupons to sort through and file. So far, the best way for me has been to file my coupons in a recipe box divided by tabs (example: Paper Products) then into mini categories (example: Toilet Tissue/Kleenex, Paper Towels/Napkins, Plates/Cups, Wrap/Bags). But I am looking for a better way. I need to save every penny I can, but sometimes I don’t even feel like bothering with my coupons anymore. They really do save me a lot of money, but there has to be a better, easier way!”

We look forward to answering these and many more questions this year. Thank you all for participating and check back each and every Tuesday for fun giveaways!

Sorry- this giveaway has ended!

Walmart wants our readers to have the best holiday season with the lowest prices so they are offering to our readers (in conjunction with my job as an Eleven Mom) the opportunity to win a $50 gift card that will be put towards your holiday shopping/grocery shopping this year.

Just think what you could do with $50 to put towards your holiday shopping? I can already picture myself loading up on goodies for all my cookie trays this year. Unfortunately, I can’t win, but you can!

Please leave a comment by Tuesday (11/18) at 8PM with one topic you would like to see covered on our site/blog. Only entries that follow the guidelines will be entered and I thank you for giving me some content to cover in the new year! Good luck to each of you and may your holiday season be truly blessed!

Fisher-Price Kid Tough DVD Player

Fisher Price has done it again and they have released another great kid-tough product. This year they have released a DVD player that will be able to handle a royal beating from your toddler. As a personal fan of their kid-tough camera, I was excited to see how the new DVD Player worked.

This DVD player is built from sturdy heavy-duty materials that can handle plenty of abuse. Each unit comes with a rechargeable battery & charger, which holds a charge for about two hours.

The screen size is 3.2″ and has a color LCD screen on it with simple controls that make it easy for children to use. It also has a handle where kids can tote or hold the unit while they watch their movies or you can use the kickstand legs on the unit for hands-free viewing.

Not included with this player is a video out cable for the television, but if purchased, your child can watch their movies through their own DVD player on the regular television.

The main issue with it, as a parent of a destructive toddler, is that your child can take their own movies in and out and a parent safety latch would be great for keeping the movie in there, but still allowing your child the “controls” of stopping and starting their own shows. Because of this reason, it makes it a toy that requires more parental supervision to insure that we don’t ruin our precious Dora movies that would be played on it.

The screen size is small, but understandably so in order to make this portable for little hands. This toy has a steeper price tag, but would work great for a family that doesn’t want to make an investment in a DVD unit for the car, but wants to be able to take their child’s entertainment on the road.

Of course, my parents used to have us entertain ourselves and we laughingly referred to our car as the “blue prison” on our treks to visit the family in Florida. Perhaps something like this would have saved my parents from yelling at us so much.

A big thank you to Walmart & Fisher Price for giving us the opportunity to review one of the hottest 12 toys for Christmas ’08!

Litewear Fun

Halloween is quickly approaching and Walmart is offering a line of Litewear products to help keep trick-or-treaters (and their parents) safe during the season. The products contain motion-activated LED technology that literally lights up the night, but is still machine washable!

The line has everything from Halloween tees, hats, socks, tote bags, and slippers with starting prices at $3 ranging up to $14, making it affordable for families to stay safe & toasty warm.

My children are loving their litewear and are especially a fan of the lighted slippers. The children’s t-shirts have cute little sayings like, “Mommy’s Little Monster,” on them and the women’s shirts that were included were a little Hot Topic too-cool-for-school shirts that would be great for an edgier momma.

Suggested Retail Price: $3-14
