Shedd’s Spread Country Crock has come out with a new spread that has the same taste but with added calcium and vitamin D to make it easier for Moms to get the right nutrients in our family’s diet (each serving provides 100 mg of calcium, which is 10% of the Daily Value (DV) for calcium, and 80 IU of vitamin D, or 20% of the DV for vitamin D).
My family has always been a big fan of Country Crock although I admit that we typically buy our spreadable butter at our local Aldi. Although Aldi has expanded their lines of Fit & Active products, they still offer only one type of spreadable butter so I was excited to try the new offerings from Country Crock.
You will find absolutely no taste difference or even texture difference with this new butter spread with added calcium. Best of all, it is another great way to sneak in more dairy into your kid’s diets. Statistics show that 9 out of 10 girls, and 3 out of 4 boys, don’t get enough calcium, and a recent study indicates that there has been a decline in Vitamin D levels among Americans, both children and adults, over the past 10 years. Getting enough calcium into the diet is important for the development of strong bones and teeth, while Vitamin D is needed to help the body absorb calcium, although very few foods are natural sources.
To help Moms with nutrition, www.CountryCrock.com provides recipe ideas, nutrition information and tips for simple ways to get more calcium and vitamin D into your diet. You can also take the Shedd’s Spread Country Crock® Calcium quiz for a chance to instantly win a $25 Visa® gift card.
