To keep our home ‘clean & green’ we recycle, use a compost pile to create mulch for our flower beds and have been trying to incorporate more ‘green cleaning supplies’ into our routines – like vinegar, baking soda, etc.

  2. 52

We clean up the yard in the summer with white vinegar to kill the weeds it kills the weeds and isn’t harm full to the environment

  3. 53

I mix my own disinfectant using peroxide, dish detergent, baking soda and water. (I got the recipe from a green site on the internet.)

    Recycle, recycle, recycle.
no toxic cleaners in this house, we use alot of vinagar! we also use microfiber towels to clean instead of paper, and changes all of our light bulbs to green ones.

  8. 58

I use a “Gleen” cleaning cloth for alot of my cleaning and do not use paper towels either. I do use alot of rags that I can just rewash and reuse over and over again. I always try to buy Eco-friendly items.

  9. 59

When I can’t fully remove the remains of baked-on food from a glass pot or pan, I partially fill it with white vinegar, zap it for a couple of minutes in the microwave, let it soak for about ten minutes, and THEN scrub.

To keep our house clean and green we try to use organic cleaners as much as possible! We look for chemical free options rather than harsh cleaners and do not use paper towels or paper napkins.

  12. 62

Since I have a newborm in the house, I have become sensitive to the fumes used in everyday cleaning products. Instead of using dusting spray, I use the attatchment on my vaccum cleaner to dust EVERYTHING. It not only helps the environment but our budget as well.

  13. 63

We grow our own produce and do not use harsh chemicals. We also recycle what we can and ALWAYS turn the lights off when we don’t need them!

  14. 64

We are big recyclers. Once we started recycling anything we could we realized how much less trash we send to the curb!

  15. 65

One thing my family and i do is recycle and reuse everthing, cutting the tops off plastic bottles works great as cylinders and the bottoms are good for storing things, we use cold water whenever possiable and donate what others can use.. every little bit counts..

  16. 66

We recycle soda cans from anywhere that we can find them. We crush and then sell. We send the money to needy children around the world.

  17. 67

I couldn’t live without my vinegar, baking soda & EO’s. Reusable shopping bags are the greatest. Clean green would be great for my house as we have an aging kitty who is not liking his litter box anymore. I can’t find anything to help clean his new “potty” spot in the basement.

  18. 68

One thing I do to keep my home clean AND green is using old t-shirts and socks as rags. I have never purchased a Swiffer & don’t need to. An old t-shirt over an old mop head does the work, saves $$ and the environment and I can wash it & reuse it again & again.

  19. 69

I cut up several old towels into wash rags that I use to clean up my son after meals, instead of paper towels. Works well!

Our biggest thing is no paper napkins. With two toddlers we would go through so many napkins so we use cloth. We also use them for paper towel substitutes. We also use green cleaning products which is nice for when the girls want to help clean. I don’t need them near the chemicals.
