The Motherloot Blog: Product Reviews

Sorry this giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to Commenter #105 (Jessica) on winning this cool new game console. Happy Holidays!

I told you that we were offering some amazing giveaways this month and I guarantee that this is one you are going to want to enter!

Today we are giving away a Swinxs Game Console that will be the perfect gaming system…  for the family that does not want to sit in front of the television! It is the first of it’s kind because it is an interactive game that does not use a screen. Once your kids get over the shock that there is no screen (and I am sure my kids will be shocked), they can get ready to have some good old-fashioned fun in a high-tech way.

Without a screen, cords, or controllers to weigh them down, your children can feel free to play one of the ten already loaded games on the console. Games like charades, hide-and-go-seek, tag, and quizzes come installed. Want more games? No problem! Additional games are FREE and can be added by plugging in your unit and visiting the site to keep this console fresh without the additional expense.

Within two months into its U.S. launch, the new family-friendly games pod has received five coveted awards: 1) The 2009 Game of the Year Award in the Electronic Toy category by Creative Child Magazine 2) The National Parenting Center’s 2009 Seal of Approval 3) The Gold Award by the National Parenting Publications Awards 4) The 10 Best Audio Award by Dr. Toy and 5) The 100 Best Children’s Products Award by Dr. Toy. Phew! That is A LOT of awards!

This game console is valued at $150 and would be a worthy addition underneath your Christmas tree!

To enter this giveaway, head over to our review and read all about what this game console has to offer or visit the Swinxs website for more details. Come back here and tell me which feature you think you love the most on this new gaming system. Entries will be taken through Tuesday (11/10) at 8PM EST. Our winner will be drawn at random. Good luck, everyone!

I would love to win this. Something to get the whole family involved with. Fun for famiy game night. thank you

  2. 52

I love that it is lightweigt and portable. My daughter has a muscle disorder and since it is lightweight this would be perfect for her. Since you can use it indoor or outdoor, then this would let her play outside more often!

  3. 53

I love that you can download new games for free, which keeps it fun for kids!! Hope I win!

This sounds great. I think it would be great for my to play with the grandkids. Don’t need a lot of techno knowledge.

This sounds right up my alley! I thought my kids were watching too much t.v. so I got rid of satellite… I hate seeing my children sit inside staring at a television, practically drooling… this is a game I would totally approve of! Plus, there are no cords or wires to make it confusing! I am in! Thanks for the chance!

  8. 58

5 grandkids, all playing corded games and sitting in front of a tv. This sounds so great, no cords getting up to move around, and all could play a one time.

  9. 59

great way to incorporate classic games into the new age of technology! kids respond well to whats new and cool and this is it.

  10. 60

I love that there are no cords and games are able to be downloaded, my kids and I love to be outside this woould be great to win

  11. 61

I’m impressed that Swinxs has received an award from Creative Child magazine..a highly respected parenting publication in addition to 3 other major awards. Love the fact that it is a game that doesn’t involve just one or two players…practically the whole neighborhood could join in! This game even has a built in referee (which sometimes the kids really need!)
A big plus is that it is screen-free, so Swinxs could be brought outdoors on a deck or patio in nice weather. Looking forward to seeing this toy in action. As a grandparent, we like to get toys that have developmental and educational factors, and not just something boring that will be forgotten the next day.

  12. 62

I love that there are 4 wristbands and no added costs to game download. This would be terrific to win for the kids. It sounds like it is an extended version of the hyperdash which my kids enjoy and encourages them to get up and move around.

I love that both adults and kids can play, especially the outdoor games such as a relay! Our friends have Swinxs and both families had a blast with it for several hours!

  14. 64

I love the fact that it is portable, larger groups of kids can play all at once and you can download more games for FREE! What a terrific giveaway.

  15. 65

I love that it doesn’t add more “screen time” and that so many people can play. That makes it a great family fun night addition.

  16. 66

What’s not to like? A way to get multiple kids active, sounds like a great game! I like that games can be downloaded from the computer, so it can be updated.

  17. 67

I love the idea that once you purchase the original system you do not have to keep purchasing more and more games but just download the ones you want. The only extra out of pocket expense would be the wrist bands since I would definitely want to have ten on hand. I also like the portability of the unit.

I love the fact that there is zero T.V. involved! that is a miracle. My husband is a video game addict and I’m afraid he could be teaching this bad habit to our son. so this could help both of them have some good fun away from the t.v. or as I call it (the zombie cube) this is a great idea! thanks so much for reviewing this, it would be great for our family!

This is incredible. What a way to have fun without the distraction of a TV screen. The ability to upload more games is a plus too.

Our family would enjoy a system like this!

  22. 72
  23. 73

My favorite feature of this console is that you do not have to buy games for it but can get the games for free online!

  24. 74
  25. 75
  26. 76

I can’t think of what I don’t love about this game, but I can’t wait to unleash it on my kids! The function I think I’m going to enjoy most is the ability to create your own games. This thing sounds like it has limitless possibilities!

  27. 77

Although I found many things I loved about this I really love the fact that you don’t have to be in doors to enjoy it.

I like the fact that it doesn’t involve a TV and no cords and FREE games!!! Who doesn’t love FREE games? LOL This is a really neat concept….

  32. 82
  33. 83

This sounds awesome! I am totally against gaming systems that you sit in front of the TV & get carpal tunnel. They are banned from our house! I was thinking about a WII but they are so expensive with everything you have to buy to go with it! This is absolutely awesome!

  34. 84
  35. 85

What is NOT to love about this?! I love that it’s interactive and can be taken inside and outside. It’s got the modern technology, but with old-school games. Perfect!

  36. 86

I love this gaming console!! My fave feature is that 10 kids could play at ONE time!! No more fussing about leaving someone out at birthday parties or sleepovers!! :)

  37. 87

I love the fact that you don’t have to buy a lot of extra things to work this system and that they actually have free downloads to add new games.
It actually sounds like there is a lot to love about this system.
    Thanks for the chance.

  38. 88

I like the fact that updates will always be free and that so many games are already available. We would have a lot of fun with one of these!

  41. 91
  42. 92

I think it’s great that you can add more games for free! Just the ability to be versatile and have options makes this gaming system a slam dunk for me!

  43. 93
  44. 94

This is AWESOME! My kids and their cousins could all play it together. I love that it can be inside or outside. And we could add it to our nightly game of hide-and-go-seek after dinner!

  45. 95
  46. 96

I like that a group can play at the same time, instead of just one or two. Avoids the fights of “it’s my turn.”

  47. 97

I love that it encourages “Old Fashioned” play. Get up and move kind of play. It’s not often I can engage my kids in tag or hide and seek, but with electronics fueling the game I bet we’d play more! More play equals more quality family time and less cell phones. It’s a win win situation!

  48. 98

I LOVE IT! Finally a game system that isn’t TV and that is the best quality about this game system! A way to bring the family together, interact, and have fun especially around the holidays with the Christmas music playing softly in the background and the TV turned off!

  50. 100

i love pretty much every feature about this: how versatile it is, how its damage resistant, how you can download the games. its really just amazing!
