Castle Knights

Sorry! This giveaway is now closed! We would like to congratulate Karl (Commenter #11) on winning this great board game! Please check back each Tuesday for a new giveaway!

Christmas is just around the corner and nothing says Christmas like a beautifully wrapped board game underneath the tree. HABA has an expansive selection of games available, in a variety of play styles, sizes and age ranges.

Perhaps the best part about HABA’s games though, is that they grow with children. Most HABA games offer alternate play variations, so as children learn new skills, the game adapts with them. HABA also offers many cooperative games, perfect for families with young children. In these cooperative games, siblings aren’t playing against each other, they’re working with one another to accomplish a common goal. A great example of this type of game is Castle Knights.

The knights are racing to build the towers before King Duncan gets home! Players use a stretchy band, not their hands, to lift and build different castle towers shown on the picture cards. But watch the timer – you have to move quickly. Build a tower on each of the three levels before the King’s arrival. Cooperative game designed for 2-4 players ages 5 and up.

To enter this giveaway, head over to our review and read all about what this board game offers. Come back here and tell me why this would be the perfect holiday gift for your children. Entries will be taken through Tuesday (11/03) at 8PM EST. Our winner will be drawn at random. Good luck, everyone!

My almost 5-year-old is really into building things, and this game sounds perfect for him! It sounds like it also teaches how to work together, something he will need to learn as he heads to kindergarten.

  2. 2

I like that the players are working together instead of playing against each other! We have enough of that already!

  3. 3

This would be the perfect game for my children because it not only encourages imagination but involves building. My husband is a contractor and I think he would be interested in playing the game with my kids.

  4. 4

This looks like a great game! My son would be interested in the tower since he is a little young yet. I love how this encourages teamwork for kids.

  5. 5

My two boys (3 and 6) love to play knights. They are great defenders against dragons. A board game about castles would be right up their alley!

  6. 6

My kids would ADORE this game. In fact, it has been on my son’s wish list for a few years, but my mother-in-law has been unable to find it in the past.

My favorite feature is that it is a game – seriously, that is the most fun thing to do with kids of all ages – a great way to spend time as a family.

  7. 7

I think that the hand eye coordination would be a great skill to build on with such a fun game! What a wonderful holiday gift this would make.

  8. 8

This looks like a game that my husband would enjoy playing with my kids. Anything to help provide quality Daddy time is a must in my book!

  9. 9

I’m a big fan of quality toys, and this sounds like it would hold up well and be more of an imaginative, interactive game than a passive one, which would perfect for my kid(s) – both current and future!

  10. 10

I love the idea that kids can work together on this game! that is very rare in board games! The building aspect is really nice too!

  11. 11

I think my kids would like that it is really a theme. It would hold their interest and mine too.

  12. 12

We love to play games in our family. My son is totally into castles and knights, so I really think he would love getting this game for Christmas.

  13. 13

This is perfect for my kids because it encourages working as a team instead of against each other. It also looks really sturdy – something we need in our household!

  14. 14

We are trying to build a library of GOOD board games, ones that all of us want to play vs just enduring. This one looks interesting because of the teamwork aspect. The topic also would interest my boys just as much as my daughter – who doesn’t like castles? The quality looks great as well – I’ve been disappointed many times buying games I fondly remembered and seeing the flimsiness of the games now (Trouble is one I was surprised at when I bought it for my kids – I remembered it as being so much sturdier!)

  15. 15

I like that it encourages hand-to-eye coordination and teamwork. My boys are starting to become interested in knights and castles so the subject would be of interest. Thanks for offering this!

  16. 16

This would be a perfect addition to our family! I love that the age span would include all of us. It is so hard to find a game my youngest could play, while still fun for my oldest. Thanks!

My grandson loves castles and dragons. This summer we built castles in the sand and then toy soldiers and dragons tore them down. The team work is a plus in any game and using the imagination is necessary for a well rounded teen and adult. Board games are great for kids. Thanks for the entry chance.

My daughter loves to build, she’s always begging us to play “lego-land” with her! My husband and I got rid or our T.V.’s a couple of years ago, which makes family game nights a frequent necessity at our house. We’re always looking for family friendly games that my daughter, my husband, and I can all enjoy! This game looks like it would be a perfect addition to our family time together!

My kids love castles and knights and princesses and building, well pretty much anything involving their imaginations. Having a game that also encourages them to work together and can work with a variety of ages is a huge bonus!

  35. 35

We have noticed that all our toys get destroyed if they are sturdy. The wooden pieces will be great.

  36. 36

I think it would be nice to have a game that the family could enjoy through time and because of the quality in wokmanship, you could play it with your grandchildren once your children grew up.

Both of my kids love to build things, so this game would be perfect. With the Castle Knights game they could work together on something. I like that it improves hand – eye coordination and builds team spirit. Looks like a good one.

  42. 42

I like that everyone has to work together instead of playing against each other. That’s a good idea in teaching cooperation. There’s already plenty of games that teach competition.
