We are blessed to have 2 bread outlet stores!  I go there about once a month and STOCK up.  We go through a ton of bread... 3 lunch packers every day.  Anyway, I just leave the loaves in the store bag and tie it shut.  I freeze them in my upright freezer with out any problems.  We each it within a month, it might not be good to leave bread in the freezer for a LONG time, but we don't have any problems.  I really love to stock up on reduced priced bread!!!

Hi Heather! I freeze bread and baked goods, too. I also love baking up large batches of cookies and muffins , pancakes, waffles, etc. and freezing them.

I do the same thing!  We have an Entemen's/Orowheat outlet and I usually go every 4 to 6 weeks.  I stock up on bread and english muffins and have never had a problem with them going bad from the freezer.  Wink  Ellie

That is great! We have a bread outlet, but they raised their prices so much that I don't feel it is any savings for me to drive there anymore. When I find a really good sale though, I try to really stock up. Our supermarket ran a 12/$10 on Aunt Millie's 100% whole wheat bread and I bought six loaves. Our family goes through bread and milk so quickly that nothing lasts very long here! Wink

Yes, most outlets have closed because their companies went bankrupt and the independant outlet owners cannot afford to pay the drivers to deliver to their stores. Thus the high prices in the ones that remain. It's really sad, many people lost their jobs and pensions. I buy most of my bread at the grocer's now, it's just cheaper.

Luckily, I haven't seen our outlet store prices rise.....they had mentioned last year they might raise prices because of the cost of gas but it never did happen (thank goodness). With gas almost at 3.40 here though that could be a possibilty in the near future.  Ellie

Sad Yes, gas prices are out of control! You can buy 2 loaves of 24 oz. bread at Ralph's ( Kroger's)  for 2.00 or a 16 oz. loaf for .89.  The 2 remaining  bread outlets are way over a dollar a loaf here now.  Thank goodness for coupons!
