What things do you make yourself? Post your ideas and potions here to share, please!

Make your own furniture polish:

One cup of Olive Oil.
Or
One cup of Vegetable Oil.
And
Half a cup of Lemon Juice.
Mix together and put into a reusable pump action spray bottle.
Now get to work!

I  do that one too Mimi, with olive oil.   Great minds think alike! Wink I'll post my potions later.  Have to get the recipes out. Tongue

I love making my own yogurt.  We save $1.75 per quart by making our own.  My recipe is:

4 c. milk
1/4 c. nonfat powdered milk
2 Tbsp starter yogurt

Combine milk and powdered milk, bring to a temp of 180 degrees F (or until tiny bubbles start forming around the edges of the pot, but not when it boils over!), and then cool to 110 degrees.  Right around 115 degrees, take a ladle or two of warm milk, combine it with the starter yogurt in a separate dish, and recombine in the milk in the pan.  Pour the mixture into a container, and then place in a cooler surrounded by jars of warm water, or into a water jug that fits the container.  Let sit for 6 hrs, and you will find the most delicious, creamy, tangy yogurt you've ever tasted (hopefully Wink)!

Oops . . just as an addendum to my previous post on yogurt, you need to cover/seal the cooler or water jug (and by water jug, I mean a thermos-style water cooler with a lid) - otherwise, the heat needed to incubate the yogurt will escape, and your yogurt probably will not set!

And just as a comparison, we were in a supermarket today where plain, whole-milk yogurt was selling for $3.49/qt on sale (this is in California, though, so maybe it's cheaper normally in your neck of the woods).  I can make it now for 75 cents a quart, garnering us a 2.75/qt savings!  Add to that the fact we eat 1/2 gallon of yogurt a week, and we're saving $22 a month!
