I am just getting a couple of loops going as I need to work on answering a question about homemade cleaners.

Do you use homemade cleaners? What is your favorite homemade cleaning solution?

I love my furniture polish.
1 cup of olive oil and 1/2 cup of lemon juice mixed well. Shake before using.  It only takes a little bit and it leaves your hands soooooo very soft!

Marva,

Do you refrigerate this. I just posted one on my blog and the suggestion was to refrigerate it because lemon juice could sour. Maybe you use yours very quickly? How do you store it?

Thanks!

I usually use it all, if not I put it in the fridge.

I Love the Clorox Anywhere spray so I bought one bottle and now I keep reusing the bottle and make my own by adding just 1/8 teaspoon of Clorox to the bottle then filling it with water.  It is practically free and works exactly the same, even smells the same.  I never had trouble with it bleaching colors at this solution and I can spray it on the baby toys without worrying about her putting them in her mouth (once it dries its safe).

That is a great tip! I did buy some of the Clorox spray when it came out since they ran a really good sale on it. I haven't bought it since, but I love using that when someone in the family gets sick. I sterilize all of our toys and the changing table.

I also have a little spray bottle of it and a cloth to spray the heck out of the grocery carts. My daughter loves to put everything in her mouth and that is the only way I can make that situation better Smiley

Washing powder.

1 cup Borax
1 cup Washing soda
1 bar of grated Octagon soap
10 drops of Teatree oil
2.5 gallons water

Boil water, dissolve all of above in the water and store in air tight container.  I use about 2 table spoons per load of washing.

An easier variation is to just mix the Borax, Washing soda and Octagon and  use that in a load of washing, but then you cannot add your nice smelling oils.
