This is one passed down from my husband's grandmother. It is guaranteed to get out any stain, even really old stains that you thought would never come out.

Stain Remover

1 Cup Clorox 2, powder
1 Cup Cascade dishwashing detergent, powder
1 bucket of water

Make sure you wear rubber gloves when putting your clothing in this. Pour the two powdered solutions in the bottom of the bucket and then fill it with cool water. Make sure you swirl the detergent around and then drop clothing in. Allow the garment to soak overnight and then dump the clothing and solution into the washer and wash as usual. The solution should take your stains right out. Make sure you do not leave the item of clothing in the solution longer than overnight- I have found that it can start to take color out of clothes if left longer than this.

This was my favorite stain remover when my son was drinking that horrible soy formula which stained every piece of clothing and bib he owned. This saved me a lot of heartache- let others on the forum know if you have had success with this solution.

This is an awesome stain remover...it's removed stains from clothes I thought would never see the light of day again, but it has also ruined a couple of items that I loved!  I don't know if there is any way to tell this before you soak clothes, but do not put dyed items into it or it will strip the color off in minutes!  I put my daughter's favorite Hanna Andersson turtleneck in when she spilled carrots all over the sleeve and it took the mouse pattern right off.  It also took the color out of an Osh Kosh dress...I'm very careful now and only use it if I absolutely can't get the stain out any other way.

It is definitely harsher then a lot of other stain removers out there, but I have found it to be most effective. I definitely wouldn't recommend mixing more than one color together and make sure to take it out in twenty-four hours and not let it soak longer then that- this is where I have run into trouble. Maybe for your more beloved items a quick soak might not produce the dye removal problems?

My son was on soy formula when he was little and I couldn't get those stains out of his bibs, his clothes, my clothes, and it was turning into a huge laundry nightmare. That is when my husband's grandmother passed the recipe on to me. Saved me a lot of time because I would just soak these in buckets and throw them in the wash.
