"We've done a huge amount of improvement on our yard, adding in hundreds of square feet of raised beds, so the link about the compost for the beds was very informative. We too can get free compost and mulch from our city. We put it in large plastic footlockers that we originally used to ship some of our belongings back to the States when we returned from living in England. They're not in the best of shape now, but it gives you an easy to handle amount of dirt to move and work with, they have handles, and they're on wheels. Since they have lids you can store them until you need them and they don't dissolve away like a pile of dirt would, or turn into a mud pit. The dirt doesn't get all over your vehicle either. This isn't a problem for us because we both have pickups, but if you have a car you really don't want that inside on your upholstery!"

"Amy, thanks for linking the chicken. We made those spaghetti dogs a few weeks ago and just for fun I added some blue food coloring to cheese sauce to have the dogs swimming in green goo. They were a hit with my crew of under 6."
