Frugal Hacks: Frugality Superiority Complex

Today on Frugal Hacks, I wanted to talk about something that I refer to as the, "frugality superiority complex." This is just a phrase I came up with to describe something that I sometimes find myself doing when it comes to discussions on saving money. I immediately feel like I know the answer, like I have been around the block a few times (and saved a few dimes) before I even know what the other person might be talking about.

This idea has been floating in my head for so long that it was almost therapeutic when I was able to finally share my feelings in writing.

I hope I am not building it up too much, but I am just thrilled to share this piece. Please join me over at Frugal Hacks for my frugality journey.

"Aha...good to hear that someone else has this complex too!

When I'm at the grocery store or Costco, I can't help but watch everyone and feel like they are throwing away money! I want to scream "STOP!! Go back home and read my blog! You don't have to spend this much money!!!" We've have 3 blogs aimed at sharing how we've been able to dramatically cut our household budget and guiding others to do the same."

"Thanks for this great post over at Frugal Hacks! I really appreciated the reminder that this is a journey. I often feel like I'm not doing enough in the area of frugality when in reality I am working pretty hard at it. I think one does have to adapt their frugal activities to the needs and desires one has for their family, and not feel inferior if they read or hear about others doing it "better". In this area, too, there must be grace. Also, I do want to be frugal, but that's not ALL I want to be."
