Frugal Hacks: Movies On a Budget

Today on Frugal Hacks I share some different ways you can watch movies on a budget. I hope you can join me over there and read my post for the week!

We are always looking for new ways to watch movies inexpensively and recently I have become a big fan of just searching for movies using a search function that we have on our DVR. It has been so nice to find holiday movies on television and just tape them for our enjoyment over the weekend.

We also rent a lot of movies from our library because the price is just right for a family on a tight budget! Children's movies and nonfiction movies are free at our library and all other movies only cost us a quarter a day.

We also happen to live just a mile down the road from a second-run theater and I love to go see movies there. $1 admission can sometimes be even cheaper than renting them from the movie rental store and I get the movie-theater experience for the same price.

"We have a "neighborhood" theatre in town. It shows one new release per week (7pm each night for 7 nights and weekend matinees). It's 3 bucks a person and the popcorn is $1. If you go on Monday night it's 2 for one! Over Christmas break, Spring break, and summer vacation they show family matinees for FREE. Love it! Our friends from "the city" drive 45 minutes to go to the movies with us during free matinees!"

"If you haven't tried Swaptree.com yet you should. You can add DVDs you would like to your Want List and add the Books, Music, DVDs, and Video Games you want to get rid of to your Have List. The system makes matches for you and when all of the parties accepts a trade, you mail your item to the other party for the mere cost of shipping (usually less than 2.50). Then the item you get is yours to keep and you can leave feedback for your trade partner.

If there is a Hollywood Video Store near you, you might also want to find out when they are having their clearance sales. DVDs get as low as three or four dollars each."

"Try redbox sometime, seems just about every McDonalds around my town has them now- only $1, but if you go to www.insideredbox.com, there are codes that are available that you can use to get a free movie rental and if you sign up at Redbox.com, they will send you free codes as well"
